Josh Childress is very good and I think he could blossom into a future all-star in another 2 years or so.

Atlanta has never been one to spend a lot of money and they obviously have to give Josh Smith a big extension soon.
They wasted a lot of money tying up three PGs who all suck.
They've got Joe Johnson signed to a megadeal.
Marvin Williams is a difficult decision. He's been an enormous bust but he's young and they might not wanna admit failure with him.
Shelden Williams will still be on his fairly large rookie deal.
I wouldn't be that surprised to see Childress hit the market. He'd definitely be a good fit but we REALLY need shooting and thats something he doesn't provide a lot of.

No kidding!!
After the mess that was passing on Paul and going with Marvin, they sure dug the whole a little deeper with the guy's they brought in as PG.
Speedy's almost played less that BK this year - now that's saying something!!

Childers is the man and could make the differance in tonights game. Does any one know when his contract runs out and he becomes a free agent . I would like us to make a run for him in a trade or if his cantract runs out soon..................... Does any one see any way we could get our hands on him with out giving up the house.

Childress' contract is similar to Okafor's, since they had been drafted together(2004). That means he has one more year left, but will be eligible for extension this summer. Hawks are at a relatively good cap position, so they can easily sign him to a lucrative contract. But, Josh Smith is also eligible for extension and I wonder if they will be eager to make two "probably" over-MLE contracts at the same time. Phoenix had did this in the past summer(Barbosa, Diaw), if Hawks would like to sign only one to extension, it'll be probably Smith, and consequently Childress will be a free agent in 2008 summer. But I don't see that's happening after Childress' recent performances. However, Childress' position looks crowded and they'd be interested in some kind of trade in return for some PG.
Sign and trade looks quite logical to me in Hawks' perspective.
