This is purely a backup plan. If Matt signs elsewhere and Alan Anderson is not resigned, I say we pursue him. I hadn't watched much of him until the playoffs, but I really liked his game and defensive intensity. He was also very clutch.
What do you guys think?

Actually, I was talking to my brother last night about this. I really like Barnes game. He shoots the 3 good and play really good defence. If for some reason he doesn't re-sign with the Warriors then hell yeah we should try to sign him.

i love that idea. i just wonder how he would like to be here since we already have lots of SFs on this team. by then he would see less playing time and i don't think he'll like that given his performance this playoff season. but we should try to get him. it's part of doing the best offseason moves we could have in preparation for the next season.

His stats are inflated because of playing for an up-tempo team just like his other teammates, first of all. I think he's effective only while he plays for a team like Warriors or Suns. In other teams, I don't think it'd work. Remember, he was a journeyman before coming to Warriors. Also he's a really dirty player. So I'd prefer Sasha Pavlovic or someone else.
I'm down with tamburello. Barnes is the flavour of the month because of some of the play of the GSW's. I'd rather just hang onto Fabio and invest more time and faith in him.
Bringing in someone like Barnes would effect the PT of Ammo and Fabio and that, IMO, would be a further step backwards.

Oh I agree entirely, that's why it was brought up as a contingancy plan in case bobcat Matt leaves us and we don't resign Alan Anderson.
I definitely would like Walter to be our 6th man, and Walter wouldn't lose minutes because of his effectiveness as a PF.
I'd prefer to keep our Matt, but someone may be in love with him and overspend. A big reason I brought him up was because the aggressiveness he showed in the playoffs reminded me of a crash Jr., and I like that.

i mean this is a tough call, if he comes for the mid level exception or less, i'd pull the trigger only if carroll AND wallace walk

If we lose both of those players I'd do it too. Toataly agree with you 123
