View Full Version : I'm Convinced. Jordan is getting Durant.

Jordan is absolutely enamaored with Durant (as are many other teams, obviously).
I think Jordan is going to trade with Seattle. Seattle only has 10 players signed for the upcoming season (11 if you include Rashard Lewis) and they are near the salary cap. I think Seattle will re-sign Lewis. Now this is where it gets interesting.
We've got tons of cash. While Seattle doesn't have any really glaring "bad" contracts (On Allen and Lewis have 10+ mil contracts a year) they are definitely on rebuilding road. Durant does not fill a need since Lewis plays SF and Allen plays SG. I honestly see Jordan pursuing this heavily because they could fill a need with the 2 draft picks (I see a trade with hometown man Morrison). They could even aim towards Raymond because the Sonics are not sold on Ridnour at all and need someone to lead the team, even though I'd like to avoid giving Ray up.
I think that it may take a conditional 1st rounder of next year, the #8 this year, and Adam but I think Jordan is gearing up to try to hit a homerun for this franchise.
If Portland/Seattle were switched I wouldn't even consider it. But since Lewis is likely to be resigned I don't see a glaring need for another SF, even if he is the potential next MJ.
Get it done Jordan. Get it done!

I think it was you that said on another thread "why have a message board if you can't post dreams(maybe it was wishful thinking)" Nobody is going to pry either of those pics away. I'd love to have Durant, but we could offer them or next 3 first round pics with no conditions and they'd still laugh at us.

Jordan is going to surprise us somehow. I'm not certain what (hopefully my durant dream comes true). I don't know how. He's going to pull off something HUGE. Our first bigtime deal of any sort. I can feel it. As soon as the playoffs are over, we're going to spend like Jordan told us he would: like a champion.

So, with the trade scenerio you have here then you must be thinking of a line-up somewhere along the lines of
Felton
Wallace
Hermann or Durant
Durant or Hermann
Okafor
Well, that would be my line-up anyway.

It wouldn't surprise me at all I'd love for us to make that kind of move on draft day we just have to wait and see.

I would do close, except I would switch Durant and Wallace since Durant is a better perimeter shooter.

This should add some feul to Bumpus' argument. There are others who also think (me included) that neither Oden or Durant will ever suit up for the Sonics

I'll have to see it to belive it. Jordan has done NOTHING, from his past experience's as a front office guy in Washington until now. What makes you think he's gonna start now? Jordan was the greatest NBA player ever, but he's one of the shittiest owners ever!

i could see it happening.... Seattle is in turmoil and they have no need for a SG or a SF. nor do they have the money to keep all the players once they sign either oden or durant.
Not to mention their owner is completly useless in seattle and really doesnt care about the team.
Having Durant in Charlotte would do so many thing. Jordan is here. this kid is a lot like jordan in that hes heartless and near unstoppable. so that connection would be priceless. We need that big name star. and a lineup of Felton, Durant, Wallace, Okafor/May, and Okafor/primoz... is a stout lineup, capable of scoring and defending. i honestly think if the big guys hold up their end we would be among the best teams in the east immediately.
dont hate on Jordans GM skills yet, he gets a bad wrap for takin Kwame Brown... but most GM's would have done it too, and Kwame is actually playing well now.
I see that a big problem in Pro leagues everywhere that owners and GMs are scared to trade for fear of getting hosed. (someone gets the shaft in every trade almost). I look at Jordan and see the one guy in charge of personell in sports, as the guy who has balls to gamble(we know he likes to gamble).
what it takes, and if Seattle would ever consider it... are the only obstacles.

I'd give them #8, #22, Next year's first round pick and hometown boy "Spokane's Most Wanted" Adam Morrison.

thats a lot for potential
im thinkin more along the lines... 8, Ammo and a conditional 1st from next year.
or
8, 22 and Ammo
or
8, 22 and a conditional 1st next year

I rather give up Ammo, the 8th and 22 I want the next year pick.

I'd rather keep who we have and use both picks. There are more than 22 players in this years draft that would be great contributors to our team. Yes it'd be nice to have Oden,Durant but not at the expence of everything else.

if all it takes is Adam, the number 8 and the number 22... what everything else are we losing Jmart.
we lose 3 unproven picks for 1 unproven pick with a lot more potential and upside. its not a lot to lose i dont think.
i love adam, but if he has to go for Durant id do it.

I say keep everthing and hope that Brewer or Jianlian fall to us at the 8 spot.
Although getting Durant would be ballin as hell.

I'm not knocking Durrant. But are his numbers that much better than what Adam's was coming out of college? I would rather have 2 potentialy great players versus 1. Especaily playing for us seeing as nobody can seem to stay healthy, the more bodies the better.

I can understand you wanting two picks but a Durrant dont come around that often . He has the ability to change a game by his self a closer thats what we need . Would not think twice about giving up both picks and Ammo for him. I just dont see anybody geting him. I think his value is more than Lewis or Allens value considering age and money he should be thair the next four years at the very least. I do think in drafting him makes Lewis and his big contract expendable.

ok. I'll agree to disagree. I don't think that one player would change us significantly enough to warrant giving up 3 1st round picks. Adam had a bad rookie season, at least in the eyes of a lot of people on the board and in the press. I felt let down, expected more but it was just his 1st year. He was being heralded as "The next Larry Bird". He still could get there, now that Hibbert is off the board we don't really have a big man worthy of the 8th pick unless somebody slips down to us like Yi. Getting Brewer and say Gasol, or Splitter with the 22nd pick. I would think would be better for the team. Although it'd be alot more fun to see Durant get 40 pts and 20 reb by himself for the fans lol.

its weird portland is set in their frontcourt with randolph, aldridge and darius miles. seattle is set with ray allen and lewis. both picks would be adding great players where they already have their best players. this could be interesting. i'd say give up the #8, #22 and morrison (maybe too much?) for durant.

That's definitely not too much to give up when you have a potential next Jordan.

Durant Freshman year:
25.8 Points 11.1 Rebounds 2 steals 2 blocks 47.3% FG and 41% 3 pointers in 35.8 minutes
Morrison Freshman year:
11.2 Points 4.3 rebounds .3 steals .4 blocks 52% fg with 30% 3 pointers in unknown minutes
Morrison Final year:
28.1 Points 5.5 Rebounds .3 blocks 1.1 steals 49% fg and 43% 3 pointers in unknown minutes
SO:
Durant, 2 years younger with tougher competition is: bigger, faster, stronger, better rebounder, defender, passer, blocker, and is compared to the next Michael Jordan without any doubts.
With that, we need to get him if at ALL possible. #8, #22 and Adam for him. I'll even throw in Brevin in a sign and trade while accepting as much salary as possible and giving as much cash as possible.

Durant is a Supersonic now, he's likely enough to keep that team in Seattle.
Just be glad he didn't end up in Atlanta/Boston or anywhere in the East for that matter

Dude hes not a supersonic yet. Im convinced that portland could still take him. and NO ONE is sure that the supersonics will stay the supersonics.

I hope they implode and it causes us to be able to drive a trade.

That woud be horrible to be continuously owned by him.
