WASHINGTON -- Jeff Green is staying in the draft. Roy Hibbert is staying put.

ESPN.com's Chad Ford weighs in on Roy Hibbert's decision to remain at Georgetown for his senior season.

The juniors who led Georgetown to the Final Four are going their separate ways. Green announced Wednesday that he will keep his name in the NBA draft, while Hibbert said he will withdraw his name and return for his senior season.

"Just sitting down with my family and coach, I feel like we came to a decision that I should stay in this draft, and it would be the best thing for me after the season that the team had and that I had," said Green, the Big East player of the year. "I'm in a good position to go pretty high in this draft."

By staying in the draft, Green is leaving behind a shot at winning a national championship and is forsaking his long-stated goal of playing four years at Georgetown. With Green and Hibbert, the Hoyas might have entered next season as the No. 1 ranked team.

Green was selected as most outstanding player of the NCAA East Regional as the Hoyas reached the Final Four for the first time in 22 years. The 6-foot-9 forward has a versatile team-oriented game that should serve him well in the pros.

Roy Hibbert is staying at Georgetown for his senior season, while teammate Jeff Green heads to the NBA.

Green led Georgetown in scoring (14.3 points) and was second in both rebounding (6.4) and assists (3.2). However, he sometimes lacks aggressiveness: He took only five shots in the Final Four loss to Ohio State, further evidence that he doesn't yet know when to stop being the team player and take over the game.

Hibbert also isn't a finished product, but he has come a long way since he was a clumsy freshman. He led the Hoyas in rebounds (6.9), averaged 12.9 points and blocked 90 shots this season. A 7-foot-2, he will eventually be a coveted possession in the NBA, where big, traditional post players are becoming harder to find.

"I said to myself, 'Do I really want to go in the draft and sit on the bench?"' Hibbert said. "My heart was here."

The pair submitted their names as early entry candidates last month and have spent their time since then discerning their draft value. If anything, they've learned that the draft is far from a predictable science: Some mock drafts had Green going in the top 10 but not Hibbert, some had it the other way around, while others had both among the first 10 selections.

The draft is June 28, and Green has until June 18 to withdraw his name. He said his decision is not "set in stone," but he also said he is about to start the process of selecting an agent. If he hires an agent, he will be ineligible to return.

I think Brewer has a better chance of falling than Yi.

If Brewer is there at 8, and Yi is off the board then we have to take him.

I wonder if Brewer can play the two? I know he has some issues with his ball handling but imagine him and Wallace on the floor together.

I don't think he could play the 2 this year, but with a little coaching he could in a couple of years.

Brewer not play the 2? Brewer IS a 2 who can also play a small 3. Chad Ford now has him falling to the Cats at 8. If that happens...well...that would be just awesome...

He also shows the Cats trading the 22nd pick or if not taking some international C project. Whoa! NO on both counts! What about Fernandez, Rush or what the hell, Glen Davis?!

I see JM7 hmmmm...no worries though, he's a 2....those sites don't always try to hard on positions.

Encouraging that they show Brewer to the Cats too.

Brewer CAN play the 2.

So CAN Raymond Felton but he IS a pg.

I want Brewer with the 8th pick. I don't think the Bobcats give a darn where he plays, or anybody else really. As long as they don't make Oak bring the ball up the court and put the best 5 on the court we'll have a great year. If Raymond handles the ball mostly he'll do fine at either spot. Hopefully by catching and dunking ALOT of Ray's passes!

JM7, I'll rephrase.

Brewer IS a 2 and he CAN play 3.

Other than nbaraft.net he's projected as a two. Unfortunately, in mock drafts on Yahoo it has Brewer going 4th to the grizzlies (no fucking way becaues of Mike Miller and Rudy Gay), and has us taking Noah. Once again - NO FUCKIN WAY!

I think we may trade up to get brewer using our 2nd pick.

Fuuuuuuck that. I tired of seeing all these Mock Drafts that have us taking Noah. It's not gonna happen.
Even if Wright, Horford, Brewer, Conley, and Jianlian are all gone by our pick I still don't see us taking Noah.

Im not sure about Brewer. He plays great defence. But the rest of his game is average at best.To be conpared to Augmon is not a big clompiment. We saying he could play the s/g position but his jumper is a lot more inconsitant than a lot of players being drafted behind him.
He kinda reminds me of a Wallace with a lot less offence.
I would rather take a big with the 8th pick because its a lot of s\g thet will be left at 22 who could benefit as much as Brewer.

Spencer Hawes. Big offensive man that is the best low post scorer as a freshman, and will improve on rebounding and boards. I see him as a Carlos Boozer type with beter size.

Iagree with ya about Hawes . If Yi is gone Hawes might be the man to take. He could come in be a good back up to OK50 Til he he got adjusted then could move in to a starting role and let OK50 slide back to the four position. I dont dislike Brewer i just think hes a Wallace with a lot less offence.Besides all most our whole team is between 6.6 and 6.8 . We need a big and a true s\g .

i think Brewer is a true shooting guard... i agree with you about lacking in the offensive department... and that you compare him to Wallace is a compliment because wallace had 0 ZERO ZILCH offense when he came into the league. He was atheletic, could drive to hole, and could dunk and play great defense. Which is exactly how ive heard Brewer described.
Having a Gerald Wallace at the 2 and the 3 wouldnt be so bad would it?

I think Hawes is slow and doesnt have a Huge upside. but id take him and be ok with it. id rather have Brewer, but as long as its not Noah.. im ok with the pick.

On the note of Brewer not having an offensive game, did anyone see him rain down 3's on OSU in the championship game? I sure did :banghead:

I looked at his stats and he was a 47% FG shooter and a 34% 3 pt shooter. He also shot 72.3% on FT's. That's better than Wallace's stats for free throws. He may be more of a slasher, but he definitely has the potential, as he scored in double figures 3/4 of the games he played.

I was pulling for Ohio State, so believe me, I saw it (and cursed the TV loudly) with each of those threes that he nailed.
In my opinion his offense is under rated because his defense is SO SO good.

With his good lock down defence and speed he might fit in well. I really liked the starting five we discused on the other board . OK50,Wallace, Jamison ,Felton and Brewer. Thats speed on speed and half court scoring in Wallace and Jamison. But we would still have to take a five with that 2nd pick . Do you think drafting that far back it can be at least a solid back up five left. WHO THOUGHTS

Marc Gasol or Tiago Splitter are the two big names. I trust Sam Vincent to make a wise choice on that one because he's probably seen a lot of them.
