Would Jordan risk trading his #8 pick to Portland and in return get Zach Randolph?

Personally, I like the stat sheet that he fills and his low post scoring, and the fact he's a constant 20/10 guy playing PF(which we could use). BUT other than that I've always heard that Randolph was a cancer, a baby, a whiner, a crappy defender, a person that doesn't have passion for the game, etc etc.

I know whenever we played him he always spanked us, and it was not enjoyable to watch :banghead:.

Now would you guys trade the #8 with the uncertainty of who we get (I'd rather have Randolph than Noah), so that Portland could in theory draft Mike Conley Jr. We are one of the few teams that can take his max contract, so we might be an attractive spot to try.

Personally, while I like his low post scoring and think it would be an excellent complemenet to Okafor's inside defense, I would not want the baggage he brings.

Thoughts?

I'd hate to add Randolph.

Why would we?

He has a fat contract, only plays one end of the court, has off court issues and is one dimensional.

If McMay can stay healthy he's every bit of Randolph but a whole lot cheaper and able to pass the ball

What are his off court issues? I like him, but not as much as I do 20mil we have shell out to him. Would rather trade the 8th pick to Boston and get Paul Peirce! now he would fill a need!

IMO if we took Randolph for anything...much less the 8th pick...we'd be making a colossal blunder. Just last year around the beginning of April he demanded a trade...didn't like Nate McMillen because he wasn't a "player's coach". He lives in strip bars and plays virtually no defense. He's also a terrible passer.

Compare that to Vincent's "players shouldn't take time off in the offseason"...Randolph would never do it. Imagine if our 1st FA signing plays a year then starts to pout and then demands a trade because Vincent is too "tough".

Heh, if anyone thinks the idiots in Charlotte are having fun bashing the team now...

i wouldn't do it just for the reasons that you mentioned bumpus. we don't need a low energy player on a team full of high energy players. his poor motivation could rub off.
