Hawks unveil new logo and uniforms

Atlanta Hawks had one of the worst uniforms in the league and finally they got rid of it. Check these new uniforms and logo (http://www.nba.com/hawks/news/newuniform_pr_062707.html).

I generally liked them. But look at their road uniform. Doesn't it resemble to our alternate road uniform so much? (forget the fonts)

Great catch! Hmmm...seems like somebody in Hawksland decided to kill the longstanding red-yellow in favor of something less radical; red-blue.

I'll mourn the loss of the yellow, as it was distinctly "Hawks", but since "distinctly Hawks" has come to mean, "major market basketball embarrassment", maybe this turn to the blah mainstream is an upgrade. :P

If they had Josh Smith posing in a "passing the ball" pose, then we'd know the whole thing was a ruse. So it must be legit.

They look quite similar to our alternates. I guess since the Hawks have sucked for awhile they're jealous that a new expansion team that has only exsisted for 3 seasons is already better than them. So they're trying to copy everything we've done to get better. I guess that means they even want to look like us. It doesn't matter though. They'll finish at the bottom of the Southeast again next year, while we'll be in the playoffs.

You're right Tamburello, Thats real close. Even the angular Hawks logo on the shorts at a glance resembles the Bobcats logo.

Terrible uniforms. I didn't much dislike the previous incarnation, myself. Although, as a Hawks fan as a kid until they traded 'Nique in a deadline deal in '94 for Danny Manning (What the $#!*#*$&$&#*!!@# were you thinking, Babcock!!!!!!!! We had the best record in the east, and you absolutely destroyed our chemistry so that we folded in the 2nd round to the Pacers!!), I'm a fan of the uniform they used from the mid 80's through '92. Don't know how to describe them, but you probably know what I'm talking about, because they lasted longer than any uniform that has come along since.

:biggrin: No, actually I don't hate them. I'm really neutral about them because so much has changed since those days. "My" Hawks played in the Omni, had players like Nique, Kevin Willis, Doc Rivers, Spud Webb, Stacey Augmon, Mookie Blaylock, Jon Koncak (shows you what kind of big men they had back then, eh?), and had games aired on TBS. But as it turned out, it was a good move for my by dumping them after '94 because it's been nothing but disappointment down there. That said, I wouldn't mind taking Joe Johnson or Marvin Williams off their hands!

I don't agree with that. Orange is the color of this franchise. And a distinct color. There are tons of dark jerseys in the league, but none of the teams has orange as main color(Phoenix has it as alternate) and we should enjoy that we have at least one thing unique.

I also dig the orange. Only I think it would look much sweeter if we tossed the rest of the border and side colors on the orange jerseys out and added thin white pinstripes. Yeah I said it...pinstripes :biggrin:

for the bobcats, you can keep the orange, but change the material... it looks like crap that its all shiny and what not.. if it was more like the Suns orange jersey i would love it. it looks like a bright orange polyester jump suit.. i hate it. blue and white(still a little to shiny for me) look good.

and if they had a flat orange with white pinstripe jersey i would buy 9 of them. the hornets pinstripes were so awesome... bring it back. unfortunately, jerseys today are made more for fans wear than players wear.


For atlanta, these things are ugly and dont even look like atlanta... i say bring back the Pacman logo thing, and the same colors... those unis were great.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Like a burnt orange with pinstripes. No other colors (maybe a little blue, but none of that transformer garbage on the side). Man that would look sweet...

I actually like the orange jerseys I just think they need to make the sides look like the sides of the blue alternates.

Speaking of which the Hawks become yet another franchise to use silver and navy blue in the NBA after the recent changes of Memphis and Utah. And what is up with every team getting that similar generic looking font? Haven't they realized that it's ugly? I actually liked the font the Hawks just scrapped, it was the only good thing left in their logo and the A still resembled their old logo (the hawk head in the circle).

yea. seriously we need a new orange jersey. orange signifies us. our alternate jerseys in my honest opinion dont look too hot. too mixed up with the blue and orange, black and then white.
