Are the Minnesota Timberwolves leaning towards Florida guard/forward Corey Brewer with the seventh overall pick?
"He does everything," Wolves coach Randy Wittman said. "Well, he's a scorer. He's a shooter. Those guys in that slot there bring different things, he plays an all-around game. He can put the ball on the floor. I think ... what he's going to be best known [for] early in his career at our level is his ability to defend.
I can't blame them at all for being high on Brewer and I wouldn't be surprised to see them snatch up Corey at 7.
So with that report being said if in fact they do snatch him up draft night will be very interesting while we are on the clock. I could see us taking a big man honestly at 8 so Noah or Yi seem most likely. IMO I would like to see us trade down and get Nick Young and then at the 22 get the best big man available in either Splitter, Williams or Gasal I'm leaning towards Williams but I would be a bit hesatent.
Thoughts?

I think that Wright is going to fall in the draft, I really don't see us passing on him. If he doesn't the Yi will. I think we'll end up with one of those 2 available at 8. I wouldn't be upset about getting either of them. Brandon needs to get more strength, and do something outside of 7 feet. Yi is better pick between the 2, I don't see him needing much work on anything. Would like more weight on him as well but like I said if we get either I'd be very happy.
As far as Wright goes, I think he'd fit well and come off the bench behind May, not have to log as many minutes from the get go. Which is what he needs.

I second that. I think that Wright would do well as a 6th man type and hopefully develop into a better all around player being behind Okafor and May.

Chad Fords latest mock has the Celtics taking Yi at 5... if they keep the pick...
Conely
Yi
Green
And he says that Minnesota has now claimed they have to have a big man.. and Ford says they will pick between Noah, Hawes and Thorton... no mention of takin Brewer at all..
that leaves us the choice of...
Brewer
Brandon Wright
Hawes/Noah/thorton whoever the wolves dont take..
i gotta go with Brewer man, what do you guys think now.

If that's the case, you have to take Brewer, then take your big guy at 22, the good thing about this draft is that we are in position to fill our needs no matter what happens honestly, whether it be through the picks, or through the trade with Golden State, or even Phoenix all of a sudden. What would they be offering to move up I wonder??

I'm thinking, there's no question you go with Brewer. I still haven't been able to figure out why Minnesota would pick Brewer at 7. They've already drafted McCants and Foye the last two years, they also have Trenton Hassell (I think) and Ricky Davis. How many guard/forwards does a team need? You stockpolie bigs, not off guards. The big man angle makes much more sense to me, and not just because I want us to get Brewer

Getting Brewer and Williams would be awesome. Although, I still have a feeling that we'll be cussing on Thursday night as we see Brewer get taken #7, but if that doesn't happen and we get Brewer then I'll be so happy I'd run out of my house, into the street and go insane...Literally.

My top prospects for us would be probably:
1. Brandan Wright / Yi Jilian, I think only one will be there, but I think atleast one will be there so we should hopefully get to pick between the two.
2. Jeff Green, I absolutely love the kid, I think he will be a star one day and he will be an excellent leader.
3. Corey Brewer, Pippen? I dunno, I really like this kid also and don't think you can go wrong with any of these youngsters on my list and I would be happy to have any of them.
If we take Yi or Brandan I think we have to take a scoring guard with numero 22, a guy such as a Marcus Williams, Thad Young, etc. I would be happy to go with Thad or a guy like Jarvis Crittenton, a guy who can start out as a 6th man, but go on to be a starting 2 guard that can handle the ball and be a 2nd PG on the court.
Now if we get a Guard or Small Forward, I would love for us to take a flyer on a guy like Williams, the guy is a risk reward player and IMO for the 22nd pick it is a risk I would be willing to take. Splitter is also an interesting prospect, I just like a more physical center than foreign big men usual are.

if they draft brewer on the 7th and Yi is still on the board, i see no problem w/ that, but if both are gone, then we are damned as hell. :( on draft day the least.

Haha, i just might go insane too. Honestly, I see that if Yi drops to us, we'd 99.9% trade it to GS as China has little to no interest in him coming here, but they do in GS. We can help ourselves out by getting j-rich and hopefully nabbing 18.

my only thing about bringin J-rich in, is that adam will never play, and we would be wasting a high draft pick. with Yi, adam could play and if hes gotten better we would be ok in the scoring department AND set down low.

Watching ESPN at the moment they think Yi will go to the Celtics though.
