We will defanitely need to resign him, IMO you pay him that 10 mil + and be happy with what your getting.

i agree...many say okafor is the face of the franchise, but i think wallace is...if we dont sign him back, we will lose alot of fans

I don't know if losing him will cause a lot of fans to move on, but it will set the franchise back a long time, and that will lose us a lot of fans. Crash has been a great player for us and we have what very few teams get the opportunity to do with a 25 yearold star, and that is lock him up. It's simply something that needs to be done if we ever want to compete.

I think we resign him no truble. I read Lewis is looking for a 4year 60 milion. I think we can get it done some where between 45 and 60 milion with 4 or 5 years.
Hope he signs quick so we can go a head and sign OK50 and Matt.

Yes, it should be a "slam-dunk" resign. Gerald wants to stay here, MJ wants him to stay here, Bernie wants him to stay here, Vincent wants him to stay here, we want him to stay here, etc. I wish I could remember where I read the article, but anyway, Gerald has a great amount of loyalty to the Bobcats for rescuing him from obscurity and the bench, and letting him become what he has become: the glue of a budding franchise. Also, his relationship with Bernie is very, very strong, which was indicated by Gerald playing banged-up in the season finale, so that he could play in Bernie's last game, which was otherwise a meaningless game. I'm sometimes prone to hyperbole, but in this instance, I'm not; this deal will determine the fate of the franchise. There will be no problems re-signing GW IF Billionaire Bob gives him a deserving contract. I don't think GW is going to demand a max contract; he knows some of that money can be spent signing other players, and re-signing Mek and Carroll; but if he isn't offered a respectable contract, as much as he would like to stay, he shouldn't (and won't) do it. Basically, if Bob isn't willing to pay for an MVP of his business, he'll never pay, and the team is doomed.

Agreed, this is the biggest thing this franchise has had to deal with yet, lets hope Bob decides he actually wants to compete and gives Gerald the dough.

He'll be back. Matt, too. This draft (opr trade) will tell us about the other pieces. we still need a C & a SG.

From the Charlotte Observer

There was talk around Charlotte that Bobcats principle owner Bob Johnson wasn't prepared to pay what it takes to build a winner. This move (Richardson costs dramatically more than Wright would have under the rookie pay scale) runs counter to that impression.

"I don't know if Bob knows how much he spent today,'' Jordan joked at the trade announcement. "We said from Day 1 that if we could spend to make our team better, we would.''

Jordan was adamant Thursday night in saying there's no less urgency to re-sign Wallace and shooting guard Matt Carroll -- both free agents come Sunday -- than there was before this expensive transaction.
I think we'll get it done.

i dont understand all this crap about expense

it takes money to spend... we are willing to spend. paying 11 million for j-rich is a good deal i think... its not by any stretch overpaying. having a guard and sf combo over Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardsons caliber is well worth 22 million dollars IMO. think about it... the wolves pay that for just one player. spending half your cap on your three best players in jrich, wallace and oak.. is the way you build teams.

now we have a good solid playoff starting line up, with money to spare... and not one bad contract on the team... spare Brevin and othella. our front office is doing a great job in its 4th year of existence if you ask me.

all us bobcats fans didnt do that contest to give gerald wallace a nickname and make desktop wallpapers for him for nothing you know. they better him back. he is like the leader for the team. he took control of the team back in the 1st and 2nd year with brevin but didnt see much action like brevin did.

when we had no other scorer, he was our leading scorer. bring him back!

Bring back the crash!!!

Having J-rich and Crash along with the rest of the team gives me goosebumps, and CHarlotte should too. J-rich and Crash combo will DEFINITELY fill some seats, as that will be an exciting combo. Phoenix of the east anyone?

It wouldn't make much sense to go get Richardson and then not sign Wallace or Carroll. We could have just kept our pick and saved a bunch of money. If we can get Wallace to for $10M a year then we do it. That's pretty good for the level I think he'll perform it with better players around him. He's hitting his prime years, do it with us.

I thought his nickname was G-Force? We might need a code for all the nicknames these guys have for newbs like myself.

his G-force nickname was forced on us by the bobcats organization... no one really likes it.

we all call him Crash. due to his hustle plays usually ending up in a heap on the hardwood. hes been on the front row more than Jack Nicholson.

Ray- Ray... (no one can devise a good nickname for him yet)
Gerald Wallace - Crash, G-force(not on here though),
Sean May - McMay, Sean Mayeatyou, Fatty Arbuckle,
Emeka Okafor - Oak, Oak-nasty, Blockafor, The Emekan Dream.
Primoz Brezec - The Pillow, The Slovenian Butterfly
Walter Hermann - La Garra(the claw), The claw, Fabio, The Fabulous Herman, Bannana Hands, White Dr. J, and my fave "prime time argentine"
Adam Morrison - (this could take awhile) ahem... The Great Mustachio, Disco Thunder Dunk, Spokanes Most Wanted, Big Vanilla Earthquake, The Conundrum, Hurrican Tsunami, The Maniac, the Spokane Warrior, Mind Boggling Morrison, Mo, Dirty Mo, Stache, The Tall Ninja, Sgt. Awesome, Mr, AM to the PM, thats all i could think of for now.

Hope that helps.
