what are everyones thoughts on the brandan wright for jason richardson deal?

personally i was shocked at the trade, because that was the complete opposite of how the bobcats had been run. they had built through the draft and gained ample salary cap space. with the addition of richardson, the cap space is gone, but we get one of the best SGs in the league.

i think wright would have complemented okafor very nicely, like he complemented hansbrough in college.

i think with j-rich we may be trying to replace wallace, i'm kinda getting the feeling that he may be gone, even tho on his part that is not very smart, the bobcats are one of the only teams where he would be the #1 option.

if the bobcats win a playoff series, this a good trade, but if not, they should have taken the growing pains of wright and just kept building through the draft.

our cap space is now gone : wallace (potentially), richardson (4 years 51 million left) and okafor is due for an extension. hopefully this works out

Wallace will resign. This is his best spot to land, and with J-Rich...can you imagine what shots that'll open up for him? We can also pay more, and you can't forget his fierce loyalty with Bernie.

I also think them bringing in J-Rich will show Wallace that the Bobcats are serious about winning which could also be a reason for him to stay with us.

agreed. he would probably be scratching his head if we kept the 8th pick and made no moves to pace up to get into the playoffs and say "project?".

I was glad when it happened and think it was very good move for us. Since we didn't draft Noah (who I thought would have been a good fit here), it was necessary. My first thought after we drafted Wright was, "@$#^#$^#~!!!!!! We don't need another young guy to develop!"

Yea, I know this is a bit old, but no one's posted in this forum, and I'm knew, so I'm going to give my thoughts on this trade. I watched the whole draft, from beginning to end, and when Corey Brewer was selected I was so pissed off. I was watching it with my family and was telling my dad, "If they select Brandan Wright I'm going to be so pissed off". Well then they did it. Now while everyone at the draft was going on about how it was a steal and all this, I thought it was terrible, we didn't need a guy who was going to take 2-3 years to be good. So then the JRich trade for Brandon Wright came along and I was like take it, well then Davidson got added, and it made it even better with a PF coming, Davidson, is a young talent, who could do well there. Well Stephan A. Smith did his rant, and I got tired of hearing his mouth so I muted his ass til he was done. Then happily knowing that Wright was gone and JRich was coming to town, I watched the rest of the draft hapily ever after...

I just threw vulgarity his way. Unfortunately he couldn't hear me as he was screaming too damn loud.

We've been in the L for three years and are going into our 4th. We want to win now and start showing some results and making this trade will do just that.

We are a MUCH better team with Jrich on the roster and wouldn't have been a better team at all with Wright on the roster - not for the 1st 2-3 years at least and maybe not ever.

I love this deal.
