Notables in bold.
Felton won't play much, but he's there because he wants to work on his defense. Morrison is expected to get a lot of minutes to get his confidence up. Hollins is expected to showcase his progress. Burleson and Anderson are fighting for the 15th spot on the Bobcats roster. Jawad Williams is just trying to find a home after bouncing around a lot over the past two years.

Dammit, he keeps turning up like a bad penny.

I thought since we got rid of J.B. we wouldn't have to have a spot go to one of his friends. Dammit. Why couldn't he play somewhere else!

Does anyone know who picked up Zabian Dowdell? He killed the Heels last year and seemed like a servicable PG.

I think Brown will outshine him to be honest.

I think we'll see more of a Brown, Morrison, Dudley, Davidson, Hollins line-up rather than Felton being in there at the point.
Dowdell is headed to Seattle, so I hear. (That's why I think the Cats should pursue Watson)

You don't think Watson's a little pricey for our purposes?
Free agents that are out there will command the full MLE, same as what Watson makes, or more:
1) Steve Blake
2) Maurice Williams wants $8-mill
3) Billups is going to be even more
Free agents that are possible for less than the MLE, maybe, but there's a serious talent drop off:
1) Jason Hart
2) Smush Parker
3) Jannero Pargo
4) Dee Brown (but he's restricted)
Other realistic backup point guard options via trade with the pieces the Bobcats will be able and ready to offer (Harrington, Voskuhl) will be equally expensive but not as skilled:
1) Eric Snow
2) Rafer Alston
3) Marcus Banks - tough to get because the Suns don't want to add salary at any cost - you can make a deal here if you send cash to get a buyout done for whoever the Bobcats trade
So .. the cupboard is pretty bare for a backup PG. Plus, any free agents will charge more to go to Charlotte, so the team will be overpaying anyway - why not do so while shedding the salaries of Harrington and Voskuhl as well? You could have four really good guards in Felton, Watson, J-Rich, and Carroll at the end of the day and still have the money to re-sign guys as well. Its adding a lot of payroll, yes, but when the players are productive, it'll be hard for Bob to say no. This is the benefit of having Jordan - he refuses to field a losing team if his name will be attached to it.

Williams just played 30 games with the Lakers last year before getting cut. Cota played for the Panama team, and just signed with an Israeli team.

Jeez, I hope you're right about this. As anyone can tell from previous posts, my confidence in Bob is precarious to put it mildly. On your second point: I think he refuses to field a losing team that is losing because it didn't spend the money or make the moves he wants. He has no qualms about fielding a losing team, a la Washington, though. That said, I'm getting the impression this is a wiser, more battle-tested MJ than the previous model.
True, he might field a loser, but it isn't because of lack of trying.
Plus, people that clown on MJ about taking Kwame are hypocrites - go back and look at the 01 Draft and everyone was high on Kwame. Plus, that draft wasn't very good - other than Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, and Joe Johnson, you've got a lot of guys that are just slightly above average in that draft (J-Rich, Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph, Shane Battier) taken in the top 10. Lot of players no longer even in the league.

@pree
Yeah I have never understood that thing about the Kwame Draft, he was the consensus 1 that year, it started off Eddy and then Tyson, and finally when it was all said and done everyone was on Kwame's jock, they were all highschool kids that were untested. That was the huge unknown draft where it was all Euros and HS kids that were picked in the top 10. Who else should have been the first pick, none of those guys have lived up to first pick billing except maybe Gasol or Curry if he keeps improving.
Some one also used a first pick on Joe Smith(Warriors) and Kandi man(Clips).

This came out in the observer today about B.K. if he was willing to take less money and take a lesser role, i don't understand why they didn't work something out. He's probably better than any one that we are going to get in the open market. There has to be something else going on right? Am I wrong?

I can only figure two things:
1. There were issues behind the scenes making a distraction. Of course, it may be just to eliminate the fan debate over Knight vs. Felton, which seemed to be a sore spot with many fans.
2. They didn't want to use a roster spot on him since he likely wouldn't be here after this coming season. Instead, they get a younger, cheaper guy who might grow with the team.
I'm curious about this too.

yeah, he says he was willing to reduce his contract... but if they have plans on getting someone else in here like Darko... they are probally trying to mow down as much room as possible.
with their playoff hopes... i think they are trying to craft the best starting lineup available, and then trying to get younger on the bench.
i dont know though.. it was a little fishy when i read it. I got no problem with BK being the bench guy (he says he is willing to do that??? strange turn of events).
BK always did struggle throwing alley oops (which we will need soon) for some reason and i think hes best suited in a slow down half court game.

I'm not sure how sincere Brevins statements are about taking a back up role to Felton, if he was then I don't understand why we let him go maybe we're one of the 25 teams trying to target Darko? who knows.

Brevin's better than many backups we could get. I'd consider resigning him depending on the situation and the style of offense, as well as the $$$ he wants.

My thoughts on BK aren't hidden: I've always liked the guy as a Bobcat. As I mentioned elsewhere, he will always be considered (for me at least) the foundation of the franchise and their blue-collar work ethic, along with Bernie, GW, and 'Mek. Some of you had said he was not a team player, and didn't mentor Raymond, and if that's the case, he shouldn't be re-signed. I heard Felton say today, though, that he wishes BK would not've been released, and that if it were up to him, he'd still be a Bobcat. I personally think he'd be a great back-up, and we'd be foolish not to conisder this in the face of the dearth of PGs available.
