... that I couldn't possibly care less about Major League Baseball.
You want to get some solid info on basketball and all you find is a bunch of people talking about 'roids, the Yankees, and historic hitting marks.
Mad love for my boy, Frank Thomas. I collected all his rookie cards back in 90-91.
However, since about 93-94... :banghead:
To bring this back to the NBA...
I was listening to a host on ESPN radio last night talking about how the slam dunk contest and home run derby were more popular than their respective all-star games. I have to disagree. No one really cares about the slam dunk contest anymore. It's much more interesting to watch the Sunday slam dunk contest when it's 5 on 5. Am I right?

Nah, the all-star game has been a disgrace for almost 10 years now.
A completely embarrassing debacle last year where everyone gave a half-hearted attempt.
The slam dunk contest is still pretty appealing to me and I always DVR it cause its nice to watch sometimes when i get home from a long nite of drinking

I stopped caring about the slam dunk contest after i got robbed by Dee Brown. The first Dee Brown.
I don't think anybody cares about either all-star games OR associated contests.
I got love for baseball, though. Growing up in MA that's what we did. Everything else was a distant second.

I have to admit that Baseball used to come first when the bobcats originally became my team. Being a diehard Blue Jays fan, I've slacked off as I've become more and more of a bobcats fan. Still love it though.
Go cats!

In my case I was never into baseball, I think that it would be more interesting though if they made a few changes like using 7 players... or possibly exploding baseballs.... or maybe strippers as umpires.... well, I'm just saying.

All Star games suck IMO, I hate them, definitely in the middle of the year, All All Star games should be at the end of the year don't reward players who have just a good first half, reward players who have a whole good year...Home run derby and Slam Dunk Contest, much more entertaining to watch than all star games, even the three point contest is more fun to watch....

Baseball is a touchy subject to some. Purists will go ape shit at the mention of how boring baseball is. For me, since we never had a pro team in the area, I grew up liking the Yankees just because my brother did. After that I just pulled for whatever was the home team in whatever city I was living in. That's why I pull for the Giants, A's, and Marlins, and still even like the Yankees.
I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I'm a huge fan of the baseball experience. There are few other sports experiences, in my opinion, that can rival that of traveling to the stadium, grabbing a beer and a dog and chewing on sunflower seeds. It's definitely a game meant to be viewed in person and not on television. The old school sandlot atmosphere is cool. Personally, I think baseball stadiums are the coolest looking sporting grounds out there.
