From everything I've seen. This guy made a great pass early in the 1st, soft hands, hitting jumpers from 18 ft. out, and has scored 4 of our 6 points early... I'm liking everything I'm seeing. The guy looks great. I thought he was a throw-in pick, I was apparently wrong.

When i turned on the game my friend told me to watch him, and wow, hes made some very nice moves, cant wait to see what he can do in the regular season against other competition.

Yea but then again this is Summer league and they are facing players who are really nobodys...not people like Shaq or Yao...

its early and its against weaker opponents... but i agree.. kid looks special to me. at the very least i think hes a good option because he can run like hell. he plays like a skinny sean may.... good jumper from 18-20, some nice post moves except hes not hurt.
i could definetly deal with this.
Ray
Richardson
Crash
Okafor
Davidson(or PF and Oak at C)

was he projected as a PF?
but yeah, he's got some post-up moves and a nice range.
but i'm not so high on his rebounding, since he's a big, and that's what we actually have to address in our roster.

he played both PF and C in college I believe...

The kid looks good . Hes not starter material yet but he looks like hes got all the tools to be good, He looks better than Hollins all ready.

Put the kid @ PF when Okafor is in there, and C when he is not. Should be an excellent option off the bench, hopefully.
What are your guys' opinions on Hollins and how he's lookin?

Well, I haven't seen him play as a Bobcat (I've got no idea how anybody's actually even seeing these games in the first place, but that's an aside), but I was always impressed with him at Bama, when they were on ESPN and FSN. I thought he might've spent too much time outside the lane, but I remember him having a good touch and long arms so that nobody could get close to blocking his shots. Hearing he's showing good post moves is great! On draft night, I never considered JD as a "throw-in" with JRich; I thought it was a smart pick, and came close to replacing Brandan Wright. I said it that night, and I'll say it again, Dudley and Davidson were really good picks!

thats the cool thing.... we got the scorer/all star we needed to team with Crash, and we got the pick Davidson that is looking better than Wright already... looks more and more like the best trade ever.
And as far as Davidson, he had a couple moves yesterday that were outstanding. one was about the nastiest spin moves ive ever seen from a 6'10 guy ever.... it of course resulted in a help defense block by tyrus thomas, but if he had a clear route to the basket it would have ended badly for the bulls... it was nice. his jumper is as good as Sean May is, almost automatic from 18. hes gonna be of immediate help but i agree hes got some work to do before starting. For instance on one play he had room to take it to the basket, but took a weird shot instead and instead of following up the shot, he kinda stood there and when the ball came his way didnt make a huge effort to get it. little crap like that.
Hollins looks ok to me... they started the game off with a nice 1-2 with davidson to hollins ending in one of Hollin's nasty dunks. He still fouls a little too easy, and still makes the silly mistake, but i think thats just due to his goofiness a little. You can tell he worked on his back to the basket game, but i still think hes got a ways to go before he is a starter as well.
good start from both of these guys though in my opinion

Summer league games...
http://www.nba.com/magic/multimedia/07sl_video.html once their games comes on, go there and if it works like it did yesterday it's not terrible, but it's not good either, but at least you can watch it...

yeah dunk and thats how im grading them. They are both doing well.... in the summer league.
THE league. is another story.
however, it is very nice to know that our draft picks that were picked 22, and 36th or something are proving what they got against this sub par talent... where as the No.1 and No.2 picks are struggling like hell right now. maybe a sign of things to come, more than likely not, haha... but what would the internet be without instant analysis and feedback.

yeah, davidson could very easily be a productive player for us this year, at either the 4 or the 5

Oh man, Khalid El-Amin was playing for my favourite team two years ago, he was absolutely a fan favorite including me. And he came back to Turkey, transferred to my city's basketball team this year, so I'll be watching him live at last.
But you are right bumpus, he was very overweight. I guess he had a nickname while playing for Connecticut something like "the fat butterfly".

I know...and being the Uconn fan that I am it sucked....having Richard Hamilton running around and his fat ass going around...was frustrating.

Agreed. I definitely liked him when he played.
Khalid
Rip Hamilton
Jake Voskuhl
I liked the team they had. Many of their reserves were former starter seniors, and had even beaten Allan Iverson's Georgetown teams.

I'm excited about this guy.
We really don't need anything major for him. If he can just learn the game and be a playmaker on defense and the glass he'll fill a role we've really been missing the past few years with unathletic bigs like Primoz, Voskuhl, and Harrington.
If he suits up for 65 games and can put up decent stats for 10-12 minutes per game this will be a great pick.
I just hope McRoberts doesn't develop into the player I think he can be.... He could easily be a more athletic Luke Walton...

Rally my thoughts exactly.
At center, (and this may be a bad idea for consitency reasons but) I think a rotation of Jake, Primoz, Hollins, Davidson will suit us just fine.
Same thing with PF. i think we have a number of semi talented bigs and then Emeka. so rotating these guys will give us numerous looks and styles to run with to confuse opponents.
if we wanna go small, we can go hermann, dudley at PF and Oak at C.
we wanna bang go with Mek at PF and primoz, Jake, hollins, davidson at C.

If Davidson and Hollins shape up some more, I think our Center Position problems are solved. Stick Hollins to start, and Davidson to replace and put Okafor is his most comfortable position, Power Forward and i think we got ourselves a locked lineup.

Watching Hollins in Summer league I doubt he's ready to start going into the season I think our 4 and 5 will be Emeka and Primo with Hermann and Davidson backing them.

Well fortunately Bernie won't have Hollins rotting away this year at the end of the bench. I figure he'll get 15 minutes or so a night, depending on if he has the hot hand or night.

10-20 minutes for Davidson
10-20 minutes for Hollins
15-25 minutes for Primoz
Then we can hinge this on if Voskuhl resigns. Then it would look like this:
10-15 minutes for Davidson
10-20 Minutes for Hollins
10-20 Minutes for Primoz
10-25 Minutes for Jake

I really doubt we re-sign Voskuhl.
He wants a long term deal and I can't see why we'd be interested in wasting our cap space on someone so easily replaceable.
Okafor should get a decent amount of minutes at the center spot because we have so many wings that need playing time.
Brezec can hopefully give us a few more minutes this year since he basically took all of last season off. Expect Davidson/Hollins to pick up the rest of the minutes.
We'd be idiots to re-sign Voskuhl, it would just make it that much harder for us to land a quality big man in the next season or two if we added another long term unmovable contract.
I wouldn't expect someone to give him more than a 4 year, $4 million deal somewhere... ultimately, he'll probably regret opting out when he sees how little interest there is for a useless big man in a market where people are looking to shed salary rather than add it. I wouldn't even be shocked to see him sign a one year deal for the league minimum somewhere.

I dont look to see Davidson get much playing time this year. Unless some one gets hurt . I think he makes the 15 man but as a 13 ,14 or 15, With a little devolopment i think he will be ready to move in to the top 12, Same with Bobby Brown if he makes it. If you look at our roster Hollins is even bodor line top 12.
1. Felton , Vetran point
2. J- Rich , Carroll, Morrison
3. Wallace, Dudley
4 Walter, May
5. OK50 ,Premoz, Hollins or vet big [Jake if he signs]
Davidson , Brown , and Hollins will all have truble geting min unless some one gets hurt .[ FACT]

I think Davidson still might surprise people in how he can contribute. For one, he can probably shoot better than any big on our roster outside of Hermann. He can also block shots. Granted, he needs to work harder to rebound. However, he can be a spark plug off the bench and should be able to provide solid scoring with our uptempo attack.

the fact that none of our current bigs stand out.. to me says that Davidson and Hollins will get plenty of minutes.
Davidson and Hollins potential outweighs Primoz contributions and Jake as well.
i have a feeling with this new coach that those two young uns will get plenty of shine.
