Apparently a referee has been betting on games he refereed.
not a big deal if its just one ref, but it just sucks cause it makes every questionable call, that much more questionable.
It wont be a big deal until some ref makes a bad call (bound to happen) and the teams and fans start wondering if hes shaving points himself.
I dont know if im worried for the NBA yet, but it could become a big concern.
anyway, what are yalls thoughts?

I heard on CNN that it was over a dozen refs...

We'll see who get the stronger ban, him or Pete Rose lol...Seriously I don't think it's a huge problem if it was 15-20 referees, then it be at a whole another level, but it's one, he's gone, not get over it and move on...

I get the feeling that its going to raise a gigantic stink.
Its just one ref, but it makes every game that he called questionable. He officiated several playoff games this season. Some of the losing teams in those games will undoubtedly scream bloody murder.

Yeah, like Mark Cuban during the Warriors-Mavs series.
I will still have faith in the game, just will hope for drastic changes and hope it's not widespread.

News evolving now is that this guy and his crew were instrumental in Game 3 of the Suns-Spurs series, which the Spurs won after HUGELY BAD officiating against the Suns.
The Spurs went on the win the NBA Finals of course and this taints it all.
We don't know if this is isolated with one referee yet. It could be, but more news will come out in short time.
LOL when my wife heard the news her reaction was "well, duh!" When I questioned her she responded with..."all sports are like wrestling; its amazing to me you don't see that..."
I hope she's wrong.
If I worked for the NBA I'd be looking long and hard about how I rate and pay officials. They are trying to spin it as one guy doing his own thing. I'd man up and say that this was a screwup and here's how it's not going to happen again.

the top ten signs of fixing:
http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/top_ten/index/php/20070724.phtml
10.) He leads the league in blocked shots :P
9.) When talking about the Spurs, he says "we" :g:
8.) After 6 seconds, calls a 24-second violation
7.) He's drawing up plays :o
6.) Before tipoff, scoreboard reads 58 to nothing
5.) Teams have scored a record number of two-pointers, three-pointers and eight
pointers
4.) Tossed one of the other officials out of the game :D
3.) Has Eddie Brill's telephone number on speed dial :afro:
2.) Miami Heat hasn't lost a game since Shaq promised to help the referee's fat son :hysterical:
1.) The Knicks are winning
sorry knicks fans, but i loved the #1. hahaha
as always the media has made this WAY bigger than it needed to be.
"the integrity of the league will be lost"
"fans will give up on the NBA"
"what will the NBA ever do about this very serious issue"
blah blah blah, it's one guy and we knew all along that some of the refs had to be involved with this stuff.
