Wouldn't it be great if there were one team that generated unanimous hatred from the Bobcats players and fans when they came to town.
Who do you hope that team becomes and why.
For me it the friggin Orlando Magic. I hated them when they had Shaq & Penny, I hated them when they had T-Mac and Grant Hill and I still hate them now that they have Dwight Howard (even moreso).
They've always been overhyped regardless of what kind of talent and there is no team that I enjoy seeing us beat more than them... (except maybe the Hornets, but its close)

With out a doubt... the Orlando Magic.
and now we can forever hold over their head the ridiculous Lewis signing so it makes that rivalry sweeter for us.
id also like to have a reason for my hatred of anything Boston and the Celtics make a good excuse i think.

The Hornets have to be the Most Hated. Announcers still call us the Hornets from time to time.

Announcers still call us the Hornets from time to time.
Yes, that's true. And very annoying.
My most hated team nominee is Cavs. Having LeBron is all along a reason to be most hated, but what is more, they have Anderson "the elbower and cheater" Varejao. Personally, they have enough tools to be it.
But in 3 years' history of Bobcats, we had a close rivalry with Magic. They can be our arch rivals very well.

I don't hate the Hornets as a team, just the owners....especially George Shinn - but he did sell his share so he's not part of that team anymore.....

i really dont think i can ever hate the hornets man...
i wanna beat them... but i can never hate them.
Magic, Atlanta(easy win), and New Jersey. for me those three teams make me nauseous

Well I'd say Atlanta because of the boring new uni's and that ballhog Josh Smith, but what's the point? I don't REALLY hate them, it's more like pity..so hmmm...who do I hate...
I'd have to go with Miami. I love Wade, but despise Riley. And have Always been p-o'd at them ever since Zo deserted us. That sucked. Of course they're in our division too.

I believe Shinn is still in control down in NOLA. I think he just sold the part of the team he bought back from Woolridge(who was worse than Shinn for the city of Charlotte), but we don't play them enough to be a true rival.
As for the "close" Eastern Conference teams:
The Hawks are too hapless.
Wiz too likable.
Whorelando, I am indifferenet towards them, for some reason, but I also admit this one feels like the best rivalry since the whole Howard-Okafor draft was the rebuilding/genisis of the franchises; howerer my vote goes to...
The Miami Heat, and i completely acknowldge that this may be too personal to be relevant.
I really loathe the Heat (except for Wade really), I hate their typically sporific, plodding style of Riley ball; I detest Riley and what he did regarding Fat Van Gundy and Zo from back in the Hornets days (I also hate how he set the NBA back 15 years with his game plan for the Knicks and Heat); I abhored Ronny Seikaly who will always be indelibly linked with the Heat for me; they were our Charlotte's first natural rival; but i also admit they are kind of far to be a true rival and it doesn't feel right (the championship two year removed puts them out of our league for now), nevertheless in the words of Kris Jenkins "I hate their soul."

the hawks are our biggest rival right now sadly. we always play close games and we won about the same over the past 3 years. but in year 4, a new rival will emerge

And the D-Wade rule. Hopefully that'll change with the gamble scandal.
Does anyone else hate the Pacers as much as I do?

Hell yea I've always hated them mainly because they had Reggie and the way he use to light up the Hornets so many times :(
I concur with most of what has already been stated in this thread about our rival being the Magic. It makes the most sense when you look at head to head players at the same position and not to mention were in the same division.

While I feel our natural rival would be the Hornets - especially that punk Chris Paul, who punched Julius Hodge in the balls - they're in a different conference, so it doesn't really make sense.
I think Orlando or the Heat make fine choices. Division rivals are better, but I feel over the next year one will present itself in the race for the playoffs. Rivalries take time, you see.
Also, having Richard Jefferson as a one-man rival is probably the best idea I've ever heard. I hope he gets traded to the Heat or Magic so it makes this rivalry discussion moot.

Im not sure one message board could hold the amount of hate if Dick Jefferson got traded to the Magic.
I just think the Magic make the most sense. and the Heat as well really... we all came in about the same time... all in the same division.
Okafor - Howard
Morrison - Reddick
Richardson/Wallace - Lewis
those are just three great matchups and similarities to start on.... and i honestly cant stand all three of those players on the Magic so it just makes sense.

i actually like dwight howard...but i do not like jj reddick or lewis
but my hatred for douchebag mcgee...i mean richard jefferson goes far beyond anything
the nets...until he is traded to another team...then that team...even if it is a frickin NBA-DL team
You can't have a true rival until you meet in the playoffs and some really crazy stuff goes down. The thing with the NBA is that there aren't any traditional rivalries like there are in the MLB for example (Giants vs. Dodgers, Red Sox vs. Yankees etc..), no matter how much their rosters change the rivalry remains, with the NBA it doesn't seem that way at all.

Definitely the Hornets for me. Even if George The Antichrist Shinn did sell his share, the memory of him screwing us over still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
As for other teams, the Heat and Hawks. The Heat b/c I had to sit and listen to their fans boast about how great they were (I'm convinced that people that live in Miami are the cockiest in the country), and the Hawks only b/c of their affiliation with the city of Atlanta.
I really enjoy the Charlotte vs Atlanta rivalry as a whole, not just in sports.

Another team that is really, reeeeeeally hateable is the Boston Celtics.

check out the arrogance of this Celtics graphic ::)
I lost a lot of respect for the Celts and the Bucks plus their fans on RGM after the way they approached last season.
I don't know if I could have been happier when the lotto balls dropped the wrong way for them.

couldnt agree more... screw the celtics and the entire tanking, whining, moaning lousy fan base of Boston.
If they start wearing pink Celtics hats its over in my opinion...

damn everyone forgot about the friggin knicks... gets my nerves everytime. and i definitely think we're their complete opposite among all the nba teams.

I'm with Keetch and Grandmama: The Heat. Losing Zo from the Hornets turned me against them, and their playoff series with the Knicks during the 90's was some of the worst basketball I had ever seen. I don't like Riley or what he did to Ron Jeremy either. Shaq will be playing cop full-time soon enough, so there won't even be him to like about them.

We can't really have a significant rivalry with the Knicks or Heat; they already have pretty significant rivalries, albeit out of conference rivals.
The Knicks will always take it's old rivalries with the Celtics, Bulls, and Lakers more seriously than us. Plus, they're universally hated by non-Knick fans. Choosing the Knicks is like choosing Satan as your central rival. It would be better if we chose someone a bit more mortal.
The Heat would be a bad rivalry for two reasons: they have a more significant rivalry with the Lakers and they're likely on the way down. I see Wade becoming the new Paul Pierce very soon, a guy who can lead his team to a playoff birth or two, but keeps them in a pit of mediocrity.
My two picks are obvious ones:
Atlanta and Orlando. Both are division rivals that should be getting better over the next few years. Both have marquee talent that should build some nice one-on-one battles (Okafor v. Howard, Lewis v. Wallace, Johnson v. Richardson, Smith v. Wallace, Nelson v. Felton, Law v. Felton, Okafor v. Horford).
Atlanta would be a great rival if they are competitive, which they should they. As someone already mentioned, the football rivalry is already strong. These should be some great games in the future, but for now they lack the passion I want in a series.
Orlando on the other hand has two intriguing stories: 2007 free agency summer and the 2004 NBA draft. Here both organizations came at a crossroads and made their respective choice. Orlando decided first in both cases, but we got the man we wanted in each. The fact that those players play the same position only adds more intrigue. Also, we had the notorious game last year where Orlando essentially laughed us off the court, showing us immense disrespect.
Now both squads could be serious Eastern Conference tenders for a long time with notable bigs and a marginal all-star caliber wing. They both have some interesting supporting players as well.
I'm picking Orlando as the best rivalry.

Itd have to be either Orlando with the Lewis signing or Indiana with that Danny Granger i think who injured Gerald Wallace. Either way it would be some team that almost made us lose Wallace.
