I would be stunned if Bob Johnson allowed this but considering half the article is about MJ with Oakley then would he be worth a hoot as a Bobcat?

Welcome to BobcatsPlanet James,

I wouldn't mind Oakley at the veteran minimum, if nothing else, he would be guaranteed to get us more media attention with altercations that are bound to happen... But for the money that hes asking for, I'll take a pass.

In his day though, he was the biggest badass in the NBA.

Oakley needs to put the pipe down, if he thinks he is going to get 5-10 million. I would take him for the vet minimum. Even at age 63, he is still the toughest guy in the league.

No way I'd give him 5 million a season...2 million is the max for me, nothing more...

Welcome to the board, Oakley was a true badass . Even now i bet if you took it to him down the lane he would make you pay. Like Ziggy i would love to have him at vetran mimum. But dont think he will get the big bucks.

Short answer: No. He was never much of an offensive threat, but by his last seasons, he was not even rebounding well to compensate, down to a small forward like rebound rate of 12.3 and 11.8 in his last 2 years...which, by the way, were 3 years ago. Unless MJ loses a bet with him, I don't see Oak wearing a Bobcat's uni.

the last thing this franchise needs is another FRIEND OF MICHAEL working here... much less playing on our basketball team.

can you imagine the claims of croneyism if MJ signed one of his best friends who has been retired for 3 years to play again.

all that said... hes a big body and would give us instant respect.

Like someone else said Oakley had already fallen off before he retired there is no way he is any good at this point.
