Finally! We last heard news of this roughly August 8th, and were left in the dark. Apparantly the contract will be worth 1.1 million (the veteran's minimum) instead of the predisposed 1.8 million.

Also, apparently the Phil Ford thing was blown out of proportion, as Tamburello has pointed out on previous posts. I think that this is the hard proof from the Bobcats about the situation.

Good signing guys, I think it'll work out well.

I'm glad this is finally taken care of. Now, what to do with the last roster spot? Give it to DA (Or god forbid AA), or find a big man?

Great news and im glad we finaly filled that roster spot. Another great move by Jordan and Bernie to hold out and force the player they wanted into vertran minimum. So far this off season we have made all smart moves.

I'm pleased to hear that we filled the back-up PG spot with Jeff McInnis for veteran minimum as we had expected. He was a natural candidate. Hopefully he won't be a cancer in the locker room as he did in his last days with Cavs. Now we have 14 guaranteed contracts.

I guess we'll use the final spot for Derek Anderson. We have 2 PG's, but none of our other players have the tools to bring the ball when these two are not on the court. We definitely need someone who can partially be used as an alternative PG. Derek Anderson would be a wise choice for that job. And if we find a good big man, we can let Othella Harrington go immediately. We still have the opportunity to add important contributors to the roster. We're on the right way.

Horrible signing.

Should have signed DA and Dee Brown instead.

Slam its not that bad its vetran min.I guess they want a vetran back up for Felton,To me it looks like a temp thing to get us through this year. But i would still like to have DA and a big . That means a trade . What do ya think.

Hell Yea, took a while, but we we got him to agree to the Vet min....Happy about the signing, I think we need another PG, we got a lot of bigs, and if one could step up defensively as well as Okafor...then we'll be a very good team...

I think they have been working towards a trade of some sort all along, a back up point was needed so signed one that already knows the team, now to get a big and like you say that means a trade. :g:

Good move... more minutes this year than last and he should be great in an uptempo offense

yeah, i think DA would be a solid option off the bench. mcinnis will be fine playing 10-15 mins a game, as long as he doesn't shoot jumpers. DA will provide potent depth at the 1 and 2

Coach V gets along well with Jeff and that played a part in his signing acording to Bernie,

Touche might be the nicest guy on the planet - that still doesn't mean he should be given a roster spot or that he will contribute this season.

The last "nice guy" we gave a contract to cost us 5 mill for 2 years and his fat arse rides the pine all season.

LOL. the sight of him doing random jumpers make me crack up. although mcinnis might not look to be the best replacement, he's the best we've got and he has potential

I've been outspoken in my criticism previously so I won't rehash here. Now, I'll just hope that McInnis' numbers were held down last season because of his layoff, but he bounces back to a degree this year, and holds his own.

i'm feeling positive about this one... now let's get DA back and get on w/ the season.
trashing othella out on the roster wouldn't be a bad thing at all too ^-^

Eh...we kind of figured it was gonna happen. Like Slam I'd much rather had a DA/Dee Brown combo, but I can't ignore this from Dav7's link:

Bobcats vice president of basketball operations Bernie Bickerstaff said McInnis and new coach Sam Vincent hit it off during offseason workouts.

"Jeff did a nice job for us last year and he's certainly a veteran backup," Bickerstaff said. "He and Sam were on the same page. Sam was really impressed with Jeff. They've been working together this summer and communicating."

If Coach V likes Touche' and wants him here then he should have him. By being around him during the summer he would know better than any of us...and we're only talking about a backup who'll get 10 +/- mpg.

kind of a no big deal signing. you knew it was gonna be either him or Dee Brown or Bobby Brown... and the Bobcats went the safe route (as usual) and thats ok by me i guess.

i dont share the optomism that some of you have about a trade. I dont see it happening. I see this team, plus one more safe vet signing (most likely DA) possibly a back up big... but i think we are done as far as big moves are concerned. but heres hoping.

Agree on the Harrington front. Dude should be cut. Heck, he shouldn't have ever been signed!!

As far as DA goes - I think signing Touche spells the end for DA which is a damn shame because there is no doubt he had a positive effect on the roster and our game play last year.

Having Touche AND DA on the roster at the same time would not make sense.

With one roster spot open what do you do Slam.
D.A can play the 1 2 or 3 B.T.W. all the fuss about Dee Brown
Hes been given a quilifing offer. I wouldn't mind having J. White just to knock some people on thair ass. I know he wouldn't fit the system. Just liked seeing him knocking people on thair ass .lol

Why not Slam? Are they exactly the same kind of players, are their positions the same? I think we can have both here and use them in different duties on the floor.

Hard to say whom Jordan may have his sights on, but I feel with the right pickup or trade the Bobcats could go far in the playoffs. I think we can get there with what we got but to go far we need a solid big. :g:

We already have Piggy and now touche on the roster. Bringing in a 3rd vet to only play limited mins takes up a roster space we need and can be used on youth - someone we can groom for a future role on the cheap.

After making a significant financial commitment to JRich and the Hammer means that our SG spot (short of injury) is all locked down. Same with Crash, Ammo and Dudley at the 3. So DA's more meaningful mins would have to be spent at the point - which I'm fine with because if Felts has some shaky moments, DA could be brought in to settle the ship.

Now we have to watch Touche butcher that job.

Bringing in one of the Browns and DA to mentor him and Felts made perfect sense. Bringing Touche back does not.

Unless as Spectra has said, DA wanted too much coin.

I say give Hollins a chance if you guys want to go young, he will never get any experience if he dont play. I agree with the go younger idea but I think the team wants a vet. :g:

DA is a swingman. We now have a lot swingmen now, but none of them can also bring the ball, which DA does. Depth is depth, I see your point but I just guess one of these wouldn't make the other expandable.

very well said. no surprise whatsoever; a safe solution to the PG problem. Also, I'd be shocked to see a trade, but if we can find one that improves the team without detriment to the chemstiry, I'm all for it!

I completely agree with this... except i dont think Touche is such a bad option at the point. i liked DA a lot... but now i definetly think we need to move on. i feel like we are absolutely set at SG, SF position. its point guards and big men that we need.

its time to usher in...." THE NEW EDITION" so we can groom him as the backup when Touches contract runs out at the end of the year. That way.. if the coaches dont think Bobby can handle it... we will know what we need in free agency next year or the draft.

I also think that The Stick will be gettin plenty of burn this year... same with Jermareo. Injuries... sean mays condition... and lack of starting talent among our bigs gives us no other option but to play them some decent minutes

mcinnis averages 9.9 ppg in his career
mcinnis was on the nets
mcinnis doesnt have a first name apparently

"heres hoping." no change in philosophy at all. I never said we would trade, just that its possible and holding out hope. because i wanna see the team get better.

and excuse me for being a bit pessimistic when the trade involves Jeff McInnis. I think we have quite a bit more to offer now.

Then I realized we had Ham Biscuit for a coach and he'd give Mcinnis more than 10 minutes a game. Damn you Mcinnis and Ham Biscuit!!!!
