The Charlotte Bobcats plan to re-sign veteran Derek Anderson to fill out their roster on the eve of training camp.
Anderson, who played for the Honets most of last season, will serve as third-string point guard and play some shooting guard and small forward.
Not only does Bonnell call us the Hornets...he mispells it!
Good move.

You have GOT to be freaking kidding me?!?!?!
I think Bonnell was so intent on beating out the Gaston Gazette that he logged on and just threw that in there.
Must suck to constantly get beat out by the JV team.
But besides that...getting DA back is very good news. Now if Pigboy will go ahead and retire we can sign Jackson and get on with taking this season by storm!

Wonderful move by the Bobcats front office.
Bonnell really embarrasses me. Charlotte is a major city, and Observer is a major newspaper. The Bobcats coverage is embarrassing.
Sorry - I didn't mean to gloss over the DA signing.
I'm STOKED he's coming back!! Still wish we had brought in Dee instead of Touche and now that we are bringing back DA it makes more sense than ever.
Either way, he and JRich give us some classy vet leadership.
P.S. I sent Bonnell an e-mail asking why the heck he would do that. It's inexcusable.

I assume Harrington wants to give training camp another try before he makes his decision. If I thought Jackson had a market out there I'd be rushing him out the door but I can give him a few weeks. Just hope he doesn't stay.
DA coming back though is great news. I feel much more comfortable knowing he'll be back there and we can go away from Touche if needed.
Slam, did you ask why he called us the Honets or the Hornets? lol

Prediction: Derek Anderson plus 1/3 of the PG minutes for the Bobcats by the end of the season.

My only concern is Orlando jumping on him since Battie has gone down. Rumors have them chasing Webber, but I think he wants more money than they have available.
Not that Jackson is any kind of savior or anything.
I know we all have ideas about Pigboy (mostly bad)...but IF HEALTHY is he any better or worse than Jackson other than an inch and 18 lbs?

Glad to hear D.A back good signing
He needs to be fired, this is just sad.

He definitely has to make the team, and I think he could easily jump over McInnis for the primary back-up position...

Marc Jackson is not a very good player. Stats from last season:
Marc Jackson in 2006: 995 minutes, 41% FG, 191 rebounds, 57 assists, 7 blocks, 65 turnovers, WP of -0.079
For comparison's sake:
Sean May in 2006: 837 minutes, 50% FG, 233 rebounds, 66 assists, 24 blocks, 56 turnovers, WP of 0.187
I'm not sure why everyone is clamoring for Jackson. Those stats are terrible.

Finally, now we gotta get Harrington out and Jackson in.

bobcatsden... wow those stats say a lot. if he cant outperform the oft-injured May... with more minutes mind you... why the hell do we want him?
welcome back DA... always liked you.. great guy to have on the court... keep the team calm with all the new found pressure.
good move by the FO.
i dont think he will play over Touche.... but i could be wrong. have been before.

good! I dig DA. Wonder what number he'll take this season.

We know it won't be number 23...I think he goes single digets....like Number 8 or something...
I agree bobcatsden. I don't see that Jackson would be any better than Primoz.

I think he will play over Torch because Torch can't play defence. Torch might have a slightly better handle . But D . Anderson is a lot better leader and a slightly better floor general.

The Honets... Thats just beautiful :banghead:
I'm glad to see DA back on the squad though.

Yeah we had to do something in the BU PG area.
Now whats up with Harrington; Is he going to play or retire or get put on waviers? We really would like to have someone else a bit younger to sit on the bench.
What cha know Bonnell cant spell the wrong team name.... :g:

Probably because of when he played extensive minutes, he gave them stats of 13pts, 7.5 boards on 47% shooting. This was mainly during the last month, but it still shows he's got something left.
I think it's a risk/reward signing. if he put up those stats part of the time i'd be happy.

He's not replacing Primoz (tho I'd like nothing more than to do just that). He's a "last resort" type of guy.

And the risk is infintesimal...a vet contract where we put up like 700k.
It's all about having another body to throw some fouls...anything else would be a plus. If I remember right Harrington (when healthy) was a 4 fouls in 4 minutes type of guy...which is pretty much worthless. Maybe he'd be better this year, which was why I asked.
There just isn't any quality left. I'd have loved to brought in a better PF/C in trade, but I can understand the Bobcats wanting to fully understand what they have under a REAL coach.

DA is back! yes!
i hope he signs a deal to be in AMC #4.
FWIW:
Bonnell e-mailed me back and said that it wasn't him who posted that snippet. It was some internet desk jockey who doesn't know shit from clay. Bonnell seemed pretty pissed about it.
I have no reason to doubt him. He might be a lot of things but I seriously doubt he would make a mistake like that.

Yeah but I wouldnt admit a dumb mistake like that if I had done it either, Id blame it on some internet desk jockey.... :g:
