View Full Version : Toughest Opponent?

Assuming all teams are healthy, who do you guys (And gals) think will be our toughest opponent in the East this year?
I'm going to stick with our division and say the Heat. Too many people are already counting them out before the season has even started, we have to play them four times, and I think it'll be four tough games.
What do you guys think? Besides the "Is Eddie on crack" theory? (Actually it's almost like crack, it's Halo 3. Don't try it. It will ruin your life)

Detroit and Chicago both scare me more than Miami.
Miami lost James Posey, who was the best player in the league no one talked about last season. Shaq is a year older, and D-Wade has health issues.
Meanwhile, Detroit returns Billups, Prince, Wallace, and possibly Webber. And Chicago is even scarier, with Ben Wallace, Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich, and Tyrus Thomas (who looks to have a breakout year).
Honorable mention to Boston and Toronto.
Anyone think any teams (aside from Boston) from the bottom of last year's Eastern standings will rise up this season? The Knicks (Balkman, David Lee, Richardson) are one possibility. The Sixers (Iguodala, Dalembert, Miller) are another.
I realize now I've named half the teams in the East!

It may be me but I always feel like we have the most problems (historically) with the Raptors (i.e. blown out), or is that not the question? We always play Detroit well, same with the Knicks and Boston (old teams of course). It will be interesting to see how it all shapes up after the eastern shakeup.

I think we can match up extremely well with the Heat if we play them the right way on defense. Gotta have a good enough coach to recognize what to do first. On offense if we live up to any of our potential. They shouldn't have the D this year to stop us.
I think the Raps are a really bad match up for us. We can NEVER stop Bosh. In two game last season he almost had a double double by the end of the 1st qtr each time.
He owns us when we play them, TJ is quick enough to stay in front of Felts (and get past him), the length of Bargs will give us trouble too.
At least now with JRich we should be better at the 2 than they will be?

i bet we can stop Bosh if we double team him with Othella and Twig.... if hes not hurt by the end of the first quarter from flagrant fouls and other various attempts at his life by Twig... then there truly is no stopping him.

I agree on Toronto...we have no answer for Bosh. I also see Washington giving us trouble. Boston might be tough but it's hard to say yet.
NY will also give us trouble; Randolph gave us fits last year and now he's teamed with Curry, another guy we have trouble stopping offensively. When we play them we have to bring our A game offensively.
Chicago can be tough, but we usually play them pretty well...same with Detroit.
This year we make Jefferson cry like a little girl.

Toronto is a tough team to beat and to match up with. With the exception of Ford and Bosh though, who do we fear on that team?
I'm gonna choose Chicago as the team that will be the toughest opponent. They're strong on every aspect of the team.

Im thinking Toronto will be our hardest competition simply because we didnt win against them last year and we are 2-8 against them all time....
Not sure about Boston yet.... :g:

I did some of my number crunching stuff, and last year, the two teams from the east who gave the Bobcats the most trouble were:
Toronto - They scored 1.13 points per possession against us, and only gave up 0.94 points per poss
Chicago - 1.08 for and 0.93 against

Brett, always coming through with the numbers. Nice job.
I think your stats show the truth. They've given us the most trouble in the East. Also, I feel like The Raps will just get better this year, unfortunately. Could prove troublesome.

chicago bulls and the pistons.
they've got a nice starting lineup and a solid bench to boot IMO.
