lol, why not just sign Troy aikman.
Vinny Testaverde has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. The 43-year-old quarterback
is expected to be on the practice field Wednesday.
He had an opportunity to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, but he chose Carolina because of the proximity to his home base on the East Coast.
Jake Delhomme, who began the season as the Panthers' starting quarterback, will have season-ending elbow surgery next week.
Delhomme's backup, David Carr -- now the starter -- is also banged-up.
Carr, signed in the offseason after being a five-year starter in Houston, sustained a back injury against the Saints and his status for Sunday's game at Arizona is uncertain.
The only other QB on the roster is undrafted rookie Matt Moore, who completed a 43-yard pass against the Saints while briefly subbing for Carr in the first half. Quinton Porter was signed two weeks ago to the practice squad.
The top overall selection in the 1987 draft, by the Bucs, the much-traveled Testaverde has played with six different franchises during his long career. He has completed 3,693 of 6,259 passes for 45,281 yards, with 270 touchdowns passes and 261 interceptions, for an efficiency rating of 75.2.
In stints with Tampa Bay (1987-92), Cleveland (1993-95), Baltimore (1996-97), the New York Jets (1998-2003, 2005), Dallas (2004) and New England (2006), he has compiled six seasons with 3,000 or more passing yards and four years with 20 or more touchdown passes.

You mean he's still alive?

The only purpose of him being here will be to mentor Carr and Moore. Even if Carr get's hurt and can't play I think we'll see Moore play before we see Verde play. Decent signing, I guess.

They wanted Tim Rattay but he signed with the Cardnals. I would rather have neither of them. Just play Carr, and if he get's hurt then put in that rookie. Season is basicly over anyway, unless our D comes to play every down we will not be scoring many points. Sucks too, I thought the panther's had a good shot at winning the division at least, maybe even the NFC. I said from the fist game however that the Pat's will win it all.

Lets just pray that Vinny never has to take the field.

Yeah, I definitely say the Patriots are the clear favorite to win it all...even though I HATE THEM SO DAMN BAD!

Vinny is still a decent QB. He did good in Dallas in 2006. He isnt mobile though, definately a pocket passer these days..... I say lets try Matt Moore.... :g:

The only thing I like about Vinny is that he has (or at least had) a lightning quick release. So he didn't get hit much even though he stayed in the pocket.
We should stick with Carr for now, and even let moore play and fail before we put in Vinny.

If I'm not mistaken Carr didn't practice today...
Start Moore please.

Vinny has always had a good arm, no problems with his arm but the O line will have to play at the top of their game.... :g:

Vinny Vinny Vinny!
This reminds me of when we had Jim Harbough for a year. God help us all!
On a serious note, we will be fine guys. Once Carr gets his chemistry with # 89 down, and stops freaking out every time he gets rushed, we will be okay. Just don't turn the ball over, and be consistent, that will give our defense a chance.
I know that sounds crazy....but what can I say. I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

The Panthers suck out loud.
Vinny was with the Pats last year, IIRC. Flutie the year before.

I really hope Moore starts this week if Carr can't, instead of a rushed Vinny.

I agree, even though it may not be the smartest idea.

Carr has too many problems, his release stinks, he over throws alot, his passes look like he is throwing rocks and missing, he is just a choker. Originally I thought he would be good for us, but after seeing him in these games, yuk. My mother can throw better... :g:

Looks like Vinny will start today against Arizona our Defense and Foster need to have a big game for us to come out with a W today.

See? we finally have a good QB run the team and we score points and the defence plays well to boot. You go Vinny!!!! Great Job.... I really hope Fox isnt set on starting Carr when he is done healing, in that case I hope he never heals until his contract is up.... :o

Wow, I was completely wrong about Vinny. He came in and ran the offense like he had been with us all through TC. That bomb to Smitty was a thing of Beauty...something Carr wouldn't have done. Fox, please start Vinny against the Colts.

Props to Vinny but major props to our Defense 3 picks and I think 2 or 3 forced fumbles? you gotta love that. Also it was great to see DeAngelo Williams have a standout game and outplay butter fingers (Foster).
The thing I liked about Vinnys play is that he got the ball to our Wideouts in good positions even though it looked like it was double covers we had there CB beat a lot especially Smitty I don't care what people say I think he'll start at Indy over Carr.

Vinny showed all you guys. The washed up old man at 43 . Good for him . Once he learns the plays he really looks like he still has a stronger arm than Jake . He looked better than Jake and Carr both Yesterday. Hes more mobie still than Carr and Jake and has more composure. The old man showed you all. He should start the rest of the season.

Thats the difference between a good QB and a not so good QB. Age really dont have alot to do with it. You are either good or not. Carr isnt a good QB, he needs to go hang out with his buddy McMann and not QB a football team.... :g:
