Was reading on YahooSports.com in the NBA Rumors section. Looks like Brandon Wright is headed for the D-League for Golden State. I knew he had a big learning curve, but did not think he was D-League bound. Surely the #8 pick will find a spot on the bench, wouldn't you think? Wonder how they view the trade now? Also, Damon Staudamire will be up for taking from Memphis since they have Mike Conley, Jr. They reportedly like their other back up and want to use Damon as trade bait. I throw that out for all those who want a prime back up for Ray who can push Ray to be better or take the job if Ray faulters. I don't think Touche' or D.A. will be capable of pushing Ray that hard, but Damon, maybe. Would you trade someone who may be good for an expiring contract with a 2nd rounder for Staudamire? Just food for thought.

We have nothing to trade for Stoudamire to make it work salarywise (not to mention we waived a 4 million per year backup PG, and part of the reason given was cost).

There are others, but this one should suffice to let you know what it'd take to get a trade to work and what won't.
Brandon Wright has always been considered a project for the 1st couple of years, so a stint in the D League shouldn't be a surprise. GSW sent POB to the D League last season and there's talk that he might begin the season as a starter. I doubt any GSW fan is concerned.

I dont think Golden State is beatin them selves up too much yet... cause he will still be on the roster, just not getting playing time. so they send him there to get some valuable PT.
so hes not a bust yet... and they needed to move Jrich for money reasons anyway.
That being said... (like weve always thought and said) We clearly got the better end of that deal.
and as far as damon stoudamire... heck no. No back up is worth giving up a draft pick for i dont think. Ray will be ok... i dont think hes gonna regress from his last year. So im thinking stick with what we got. save the pick. then in the draft go Big round one and Point round two.

yeah spectre i agree that GSW fans arent sweating yet... but damn
when you put it together it sure does look lopsided now.
Charlotte: Jermareo Davidson (looking great)
Jason Richardson (a borderline all star, proven scorer)
Golden State: Brandon Wright (NBDL)
we got an all star and a (so far) better prospect than the prospect we gave away. lopsided as hell. MJ sure does suck at GM.

I was just on thair site . They are going with a small line up to start the year while some are saying to start Wright. Over all most are happy with Wright and still think hes a good trade. For both teams . They have class fans unlike some teams like the Suns.

You'll NEVER get me to argue that one! I would easily have done it without the 36th pick, so adding Davidson in was pure gravy!
And for the record, I think BW will be a solid pro...he's just too smooth in the paint and he has that absurd wingspan. IMO though he will NEVER equal Jason Richardson.
GSW was in a bind financially. Their owner was (still is?) being sued by the IRS for muliple millions, they were destined to be in luxury land next year AND they were looking at having to sign both Ellis & Biedrins to huge deals. They had to make a move or else risk losing another Gilbert Arenas. If you look at from that perspective us coming along was a Godsend for them.
A true win-win.
Even if Wright turns out to be a Chris Bosh type player (which I doubt, and if he did it will take him many, many years to get there) I'll always be happy with the deal that MJ made on draft night. JRich was 100% what we needed.
As far as the pg question goes - I'd love to steal Lowry away from them instead!! I watched him during SL and he's a little stud.

I agree about liking Lowry more than Staudamire, but the news was about Staudamire. I would guess since Lowry is on 21 and Staudamire 34, they are wanting to keep him. He is actually listed as the #1 PG, but you know Conley, Jr. will take that before the year is out. Too much of a stud.
