http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3077037 - Basically the heat got two borderline starters, Ricky Davis and Mark Blount (I imagine Ricky would start while Flash is out, and Blount would take over when Diesel misses time, since Miami can't play Zo too many minutes) for the Brick Mason, Antoine Walker, and salary cap fodder. Thanks Kevin McHale - that is two teams in the east you've made dramatically better this offseason.

I read that early this morning. I DON'T see why the heat give up so much for Davis. Hes ok but a first round pick added in that shows the heat are despret. To be averege that don't make them that much better. We should still be better. Wade is coming off two seregys and Oneal out of shape and about washed up. I DON'T THINK THEY SMELL THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR.

I agree shaq is 35 now and watching him play in GSO that night, he has slowed down alot....No big threat there....Alonzo is getting old too....No big threat there either. Like dave7z says

I'd pull the trade in a second. Anything to get rid of Walker.
I still agree though, they won't make the playoffs.
On a side note, I watched Davis play in a game against the wizards as a rookie. He played for the Hornets! another guy that would have had a better career if he had stayed in Charlotte! He had a dunk where he was under the basket and just jumped up caught it and dunked it. Nothing fancy except he almost hit his chest on the rim. No running start, no rim pulling just straight jumpin out the gym. He's an athlete, if he get's his atitude ajusted by Pat, he could be a good player for the heat.

I also remeber Ricky Davis as the same guy who shot at the wrong basket because he needed one rebound to get a triple-double, so his attitude may hurt the heat more than help. I do agree that it is alot to give up for an over the hill Antoine. I am amazed that McHale still has his job with as many questionable decisions he has made (Hello Joe Smith!) He must have some good dirt on Glen Taylor, the owner.

I wasn't knocking you by that post, I was just commenting on a memory I had of Davis.

ricky davis is very talented, however, he is selfish and a "me-first" player. once he was 1 rebound short of a triple double and he shot on the wrong side of the court and got the rebound, luckily they didn't count it on the stat sheet. i wouldn't think it was a bad deal for the heat except that they threw in a 1st round pick. cuz with how things were for them last year, that could be of the lottery variety. but i'm not sure if there are any restraints on the pick :)

Sorry ressie, another wrongly worded post for me. That didn't come out very good. I agree he's a selfish guy, and hope that pat can turn him into a team first guy. But that will be difficult.
Sorry if I came off a smart ass. I have a bad habit of that.

In July 2007, LJ has expressed interest in making a comeback with the Knicks in some type of "leadership role".
Too cool... :g:

dav7z, I don't see that Miami gave that much up to get two guys who will be in their rotation. Antoine Walker may wind up being bought out/cut by the T-Wolves and the other 2 players are third stringers. A first round pick seems fair compensation for taking on Walker's contract. Ricky Davis and Blount are not All-stars or anything, but they add depth to a Heat team that is hurting for useful players.
