All right guys, who would like to do the honors and give us something cool for our opening day game thread?

How about the starting line up......I'm hoping for......

1)Felton
2)J-Rich
3)Wallace
4)Herrmann
5)Oka4

To me this is the only line up that makes sence....

But will probably end up.....

1)Felton
2)J-Rich
3)Wallace
4)Oka4
5)Primoz

oh well.... :g:

With Brezec rumored to start, I can only hope that he's ready to face Bogut, as he can score pretty well and is a superior player.

The J-rich vs. Michael Redd combo should be fun, however. As will be Felton Vs. Mo Williams. Crash vs. Yi or Villanueva could be interesting as well.

I think we're gonna win this game. I don't know why but I just have a REALLY good feeling about this game and I think we're gonna win running away with it.

Can't wait! The season is here! Year 4 here we come!

hmm...michael redd, felton, crash, and yi jianlin are all on my fantasy team...but i benched yi for ruben patterson so i can root for crash to hold him to 0 points =-D

and redd can only score all of the bucks points...but they HAVE to lose

It'd be sweet if Yi got faced. Welcome to the NBA, son!

Will Yi be starting at the 4? If so, that would put him up against EO50 right? Oh yes, Welcome to the NBA Yi!

With Yi starting at the four i would feel better with Herrmann starting. I just don't feel good about OK50 coming out to the 3pt line. I all so don't think Yi can stop Herrmann off the drible. This will end up being key match ups.

Wouldn't Mek be on Bogut and Primoz be on Yi?

I agree, Mek is NOT good out on the perimeter. Primoz isn't good anywhere, so might as well let him run around out there so he won't be in Mek's way.

dav7z
10-31-2007, 04:31 PM
Would feel much better with Herrmann out thair as Yi can drive by Primoz easy . And that puts OK50 in quick foul truble. Trying to stop Yi and Bogut.

Alex
10-31-2007, 04:35 PM
Neither Okafor or Pillow can guard Yi since he likes to go all over the place, I would suggest putting Wallace on him when he's on the perimeter and switching to Pillow when he goes downlow. Although he shouldn't be our main concern going into this game, that part belongs to Mr. Redd.

dav7z
10-31-2007, 04:41 PM
I would put Wallace on Redd, Herrmann on Yi, Ok50 on Bogut,Felton on Mo, and Rich on Mason.
I would bring the Pillow, off the beanch along with Hammer and Dudley,

On paper both teams are about even . They have a nice squad

Wallace15
10-31-2007, 04:50 PM
Damn, when I made the comment about Yi being up against Oak I wasn't really thinking about Yi being on the perimeter a lot. If Yi's playing outside a lot I would rather have Wallace or Hermann on him, but if Yi tries to come inside with Oak down there then he'll definitely get a hell of a welcome with EO50 in his face.

Welcome to Bobcatsplanet . Glad to have a packer fan with us. Look to see OK50 HAVING A 20 -10 GAME. All so i don't think no one stops Wallace. Rich will get his. Hope to see good games out of Felton, Primoz , Dudley , Herrmann , Hammer. Like i said be for the key will be how we guard Yi and with who.

I don't think there's anything to fear with Yi. He's got quite a bit of work to do before he becomes any kind of real threat; I say let him live behind the arc and take your chances. Plus, Mek should be able to push him around if he tries to do anything in the paint. Then again, the guy'll probably get his first career double double on us, so what do I know?

Man they got man-handled by the Magic tonight.  We seriously should be these guys.

Dwight set the tone with his defense...absolutely no reason why Mek can't do the same thing.

Simmons looked good...Crash is going to have to stay in his grill. Same with Felts and Mo (Nelson did it, he can too).  JRich is going to have his hands full with Redd, but if everyone else just does their job we can afford to let him get his.

We need to get off to a fast start and win the home opener.
Yi is going to eat Primoz alive hope coach is smart enough to see that and put either Herrmann or Dudley on him quick. It's no way Primoz can stop him on a drive. Felton is not got a easy job stoping Mo. I would put Wallace on Redd amd Rich on Mason . Just let OK control the middle.

Felton - Mo even
Rich < Redd ADVANTAGE 5PTS
Wallace > Mason 5pts
Yi > Primoz 3pts
OK50 > Bogut 5pts Total +2 Bobcats

Beanches
Simmons 14 pts Charlie V. 10 PTS center 4pts 28 BUCKS
Herrmann12PTS Dudley 8PTS Hammer 10PTS Hollins -Davidson 4 34 Bobcats Total + 6 Bobcats

Gaston Gazette (http://www.gastongazette.com/sports/vincent_12274___article.html/season_bobcats.html)

Vincent has established guards Raymond Felton and Jason Richardson, forwards Gerald Wallace and Emeka Okafor and center Primoz Brezec as his starting lineup, with Matt Carroll, Jeff McInnis, Jared Dudley, Jermareo Davidson and Ryan Hollins as top reserves off the bench. That makes veteran Derek Anderson and second-year Walter Herrman, a pair of productive players from last year, the team’s deepest reserves.

Fabio at the bottom of the pecking order.

BTW, that's a good article.

I am at a loss as to why Herrmann would be at the bottom of the depth chart. He is a lethal threat from 3 and can bring their rookie from China out to the 3 pt line to help us with rebounds. Unless Jermareo has impressed Coach more than we all thought. Wow, that really does surprise me. Many were talking of Herrmann starting at the 4 in a smaller quicker lineup. Now, he's at the bottom of the pecking order? I jsut don't quite get this guys. Can someone give me a rational view on what the Coach is seeing here?

What a game! 3 more from Oak and we would have had 4 with 20 pts.! But wow, did we almost throw it away at the line. My gosh, 22 of 43 just sucks! J-Rich was huge in the 4th and that is why we brought him to Charlotte. I am pleased with everything tonight except the FT. Heck, we only lost the rebounds by 44 - 41. That is not bad against Bucks.

Wallace15
11-02-2007, 10:13 PM

Good game guys. Felton played studly? Sweet! I was glad to see that he shot the 3rd most behind J-rich and Wallace, and nearly outshot by Okafor. He works best it seems when he's the 3rd or 4th scoring option. It clearly showed tonight. 12 assists and only 3 TO's in the first game impresses me.

Touche played too much. he needs 15 minutes max, from the PG spot only. He played decent filler minutes, however (4 pts, 3 assists, 1 TO), which isn't too bad, if he's playing less that his 24 minutes he had tonight....

The FT problem was just a 1 time thing. Okafor missed 10, and that just killed the stat. I see us doing much better than that.

Hopefully the Okafor and Crash rebounding duo can continue. I can't bear to watch more games where 3 people have more than 3 rebounds. That'll just kill us, just as much as the FT's.

Start Davidson @ center!

What can i say i was in the sweit and i could not set down the whole forth. Happy one second and pissed the next . lol
I bet we get some plays on sports center for this game . Wallace had at least 3 dunks you would not belive. In the 1st he set the tone of the game . He was the man early. Ive not seen OK50 ever as intense as he was tonight. He had a block thet will have to mack sports center. He had to have five or six bolcks . Jeff suprized me big time . He stayed in Redds face and had him pissed most of the 2nd half.
Rich came alive in the 2nd half . He looks as if he can be a go to late in the games . Or at least that seemed he wanted the ball at the end. Can't belive he missed 3 straight free throughs. Missed his second and NO body boxed him out and he got fouled again and missed the next two . WOW PISSED ME OFF SO BAD ,LOL Felton had a nice game . He shot the three ball well . Way to go 81 more wins

Woooohooooo we got the win!! 1-0 for the first time ever. That was an exciting game and a great atmosphere in the fourth quarter. It's a shame we missed all those FTs though, that was abysmal, I mean it should of never even been a game down the stretch.

The guys played fantastic though, we just have to figure out our free throw issues.

Just got back from the game. Thoughts:

Primoz started, and didn't do much after that.

Our depth chart should have Jeff McInnis as the #1 PG, not because he deserves it necessarily, but because that's who it seemed was bringing the ball up the court the entire game. Is Felts really that crappy? Was this just a product of the fact that Felts was shooting well, so they wanted someone else in the game to feed the hot hand? Perhaps. I'm not sure, but in general, I'd rather he played less. I mean, we didn't play DA at all.

Oaks DID play intense. There was one really bad foul call on him at one point and he got PISSED. It was fantastic to see. Play that hyped, and he'll earn his money come July 1, 2008.

JRich was JRich, and I dig it.

Crash was more than Crash, and he doesn't cease to amaze. He really set the tone with his hustle and some jams early on. When he's in the game, the 'Cats seem to just want the ball more, and it's due to the way he fights for it. There really are no words...

Hollins came in at point and contributed well, I thought. He got a couple big rebounds and two points. In seven minutes, I'll take it.

Hermann didn't do a whole lot. Except towards the end of the game, when he let a Buck slip past him for the easy two. Since we weren't exactly hitting from the line at this point, I was understandably enojado con el Argentino.

As many others have mentioned, the end of the game was a mix of elation and terror. If I hadn't read the stats I would have said that Felton can't hit a FT period. However, he actually hit 73.333%, it's just he missed almost all of the ones at the end of the game. The real one to talk about was the Oak tree. At the stripe 13 times and hits 3. I know that he can do better than that, so I'm not worried, but it got me real nervous towards the end there. I hope they practice there FTs soon. Our FT% was better than our FG% by about a whopping 3 percentage points. Not steller. Not steller at all.

LAST NOTE that I've got was that the arena looked empty during the 1st quarter. It got a little better as the game went on (4th quarter was pumped), but it was really pathetic. This team deserves better.

In any case, AWESOME GAME Bobcats! You played very well as a whole, and the end result was exactly what we want. Keep the streak going!

After all that, though

Was there as well and can't say much more than has already been said....

The Bobs clearly love Jeff McInnis. His main job seemed to be to bring the ball up court and then once he got across the half-court line; give it to Ray. In the fourth Q some guy behind us yelled "McInnis Sucks" loud enough to get some of the teams attention on the bench and a couple coaches turned and shot him some ugly looks.....It's clear that Sam has a lot of confidence in him. And I'll admit, Jeff has plenty of confidence in himself and is playing with a lot of spirit and heart. Still....every minute he plays I keep thinking, are minutes that Hermann, Carroll and even Dudley don't.

Same with Brezac. He also played with great spirit and heart, fist pumping and hustling. Still, he's pretty much a liability on the court; and is stealing minutes from Hollins, Hermann, Davidson and Dudley. Don't care for that much.

Couldn't help but notice that Jermario looked like he hadn't slept in a while. His eyes were glassy and he kept yawning and sagging his head down. Maybe he couldn't sleep last night with the first game heebeejeebees :)

Overall though, so many positives tonight. No need to rehash, the other posters have covered it well...can't wait for the next home game against the Suns!

Just finished my number crunching - http://www.queencityhoops.com/GameRecap110207.php - check it out.
1 and 0. Nice way to start the season. 2 and 0 would be even better. And might we even be favored heading into the game?

What a win!
I scalped tickets out front from some guy named greg and they were 3 rows back in the corner. I just have to comment on the great performance by Felton. His 12 assists are huge and set a great tone for this year.
I also loved the way that Gerald got all his touches while JRich got his as well. It was nice to have Richardson in the 4th where it seemed he carried this team to victory. Great opening night, even though it was only the bucks i hope it is a sign of things to come.

From the Bobcats official website:

http://www.nba.com/bobcats/recap_bucks_071102.html

This one’s a tie. Standing at his locker after the game, Wallace was caught mumbling to himself, “We’re going to be shooting free throws all day tomorrow.” To which veteran Derek Anderson responded laughing, “What were you doing out there? You made Shaq look like Reggie Miller out there.” All Wallace could do was shake his head saying, “That’s cold man, that’s cold.”

That's hilarious.

P.S. The suns are getting dominated 90-61 by the lakers tonight in the 3rd quarter.

From the sounds of this thread, it looks like the Bucks fans are ready to mail in the season already. (http://www2.jsonline.com/idealbb/view.asp?mode=viewtopic&topicID=52867)

Wow, the bucks forum is a hilarious read. One of my favs:

Seriously, what the f*** is Mo Williams doing out there? You cannot possibly win with that stupid of a point guard. He goes for two points with less than a second on the clock? What am absolute idiot. They HAD to take a three there.

Well, 0-3 after they get destroyed by the Bulls tomorrow. Probably won't even be a sell-out. This team REALLY sucks.

He is right, WTF was williams doing? Down 3 with a few seconds to go and he drives for a 2? GET THE BALL TO REDD!!!

It seems like EVERYBODY hates Williams, as well as the entire team.

Gotta agree Bumpus...we were happily relieved when the Bucks went for two (twice) in the closing seconds. With the missed free throws, the Cats were leaving the door wide open but the Bucks seemed inept about taking advantage. No idea why they didn't feed Redd in the last minute. Maybe it was good Bobcats defense, but more likely poor Bucks coaching and poor Mo Williams play.

Absolutely, my cousin and I were forecasting a Redd 3 when we were only up by 2 to win the game, then a Redd 3 to tie the game. Mo had a good game early on, but I have no clue what that drive to the hoop was all about. I'm still not sure how the clock didn't run out; from my end of the court (behind the Bucks bench on platform 107) it looked like the clock stopped before the ball was out of bounds, and I was screaming why did they stop the clock?!?!? Yes, like everyone else, I was a basketcase b/c of the woeful FTs. That was pure torture. One funny thing, which I can say is funny b/c we won the game, did y'all notice how every time Mek, Raymond, GW or JRich went to the line, the others would meet at the line to give him a pep talk? Once, GW cradled Mek's shaved head as if he was trying to rub some good vibes into him.

I don't know of the attendance numbers, but I too was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. I have to agree with Edrow, it did have a little bit of the college atmosphere to it! Let's hope we're looking at 2-0 when Phoenix comes to town!!

As usaul I got the highlights and thats all unfortunetly I wont get to add to my quota of 15 bobcats games watched, I saw the stats and they looked good except for like everyone has already said the ft%.

Mo Williams is a gig issue for the Bucks I think they need to ship him out to be honest, I think he is a good third option on a team but most of the scoring should be through Bogut and Redd and perhaps even Villanueva he is stifling there growth and the best thing for them to do would be to trade him, such a stupid move by a supposed team leader taking that drive.LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD!

Go Bobcats

Man that was a great game last night. So much to talk about but you guys have went over most of it. The only player I think isn't getting enough credit is McInnis. I was shocked at how much he was playing while there but then I realized how good of defense he was playing on Redd. He only scored 5pts in the 2nd half. He was bodying him up. Cutting off his drives and pestering him to death. I guess Touche can play some decent defense as long as his man isn't faster than him.

Yes, you have to give McGinnis his props. he played tough D and was important in our victory.
I agree with Bumpus. I would like to start Jermareo at the 5 and let Primoz and Hollins play behind him by committee. Oak at the 4 is brutal on our competition. Jermareo may be a rookie, and will make rookie mistakes. But he is not as inept and down right goofy at times as Primoz and Hollins. I think he would be pumped to try and battle Shaq his first start. Likely would pick up some fouls early, but let him try. This is a depleted Miami without Wade, so it will be easier to take them now than take them later when they have Wade.

Yeah, I agree that Super Mareo deserves a chance to start. I'd say give him that opportunity against the heat.

I was suprised McInnis was in as much as he was. I thought Carroll would come in at the end if we needed foul shots.

We were effective taking it to the hole. Playing a half court game, not so much.

Our big 3 did well. Hermann and Dudley were disappointing.

I loved the dunk on Yi in the 3rd quarter. Nice.

Haven't got to talk about this game, but nice to see the season start off with a win. Just think we are on the way to going 82-0 lol. Anyways Felton looked real good last night, and I was happy to see the double digit assist. Three guys in twenty points, hopefully it can keep up. Okafor with 5 blocks, Crash with 4 steals, even Matt Carroll and Primoz Brezec had a block...nice going, and no better way to start off the season than with a win...BUT we have to learn to shoot some free throws...

Also, something I found on the Bobcats.com recap:

The reigns of the offense were handed over to Raymond Felton this season, and he handled them well tonight. He scored a game-high 26 points and dished out a game-high 12 assists – all while battling a virus that might have left other players sidelined.
“Yes, I have a virus, but it doesn’t matter,” Felton said. “It’s not going to stop me. I just play through it.”(perhaps why he wasn't bringing the ball up the court?)

If this game is any indication, I can't wait to see Felton play at 100%!

Heh, Felts always seems to play best when he's tired or hurt...maybe it takes some of the nervousness off?

Being as how it was the first game I'm going to give V the benefit of the doubt and suggest Touche's PT was a result of our coach recognizing that he was the best to defend Redd. He really did a pretty good job, esp. at the end.

Regardless, this wasn't Bernie's 2 PG situation; Touche' just brought the ball across the timeline...soon as that happened he passed to Felts and he started the offense.

Muttley
11-03-2007, 03:28 PM
That's true spectre. I gotta say, Touche wasn't terrible. If he was brought in solely to guard Redd, then good. He did a good job of containing him. However, if he came in to bring it up the court because Felts couldn't, then that's a serious reason for concern.

After that dreadful preseason, I thought last night was reason to be excited again, even though we sputtered through much of the game.

Crash: Holy hell. the guy is for real.
Felton: Played a great game.
Okafor: Total stud (even with the free throw debacle).
JRich: The addition we hoped for.

we ARE a better team, and I'm back to thinking we'll make the playoffs. The trick is using our other resources well. Decinding when Matt gets big minutes, or touche, etc. It's going to take masterful use of our talent, but we do have it. There were some moments last night when we were on the verge of blowing those guys out of the gym. I think we'll get there over the next few weeks, as our core starts to gel.

Pumped up again - but damn i wish ammo could be part of this. and yes, May would be helpful too.

go Bcats!!!

Coach V said he was going to play match ups . I think he made a great choice in putting Jeff on Redd . He had Redd flustrated in the 2nd half . I think that was a great choice and the key to the game. So i have to give Coach V cradit for a good move. I would like to have seen Davidson get some burn . All so Dudley needed more burn. A concern i noticed is beanch production . We need to try to devolope a good rotation and i feel Dudley needs to be part of that rotation. Notice our starters have to come back in early in the forth to keep control as we need to devolope a rotation thet can maintain after a few games we will get tired legs.
