I guess EO50 wasn't as "positive" as he thought he was when he said he would be getting a new extension before the season started. But I'm not worried about it. I'm positive that we'll re-sign after the season is over......wait a second?

You would think this might be news the Observer would want to cover....

Still a few hours until the end of business.... it's absolutely embarrassing if the team doesn't re-sign Okafor today. We're going to wind up paying $4 million more PER YEAR when he becomes a restricted free agent next summer. Okafor is the cornerstone of our franchise, our best player, a model citizen, and a necessary element in the Bobcats continued success.

It makes me furious.

Since we don't know what's being offered or demanded I don't see how you can be embarrased or furious.

What if Mek's agent is demanding the max?

A grand total of 2 significant players have been extended out of the 2004 class, Dwight Howard (a max contract no brainer) and Devin Harris...who took around 9-10 per.  The rest...most of which could conceivably get a maximum contract but probably won't have not.

Don't forget...in order for Mek to get that "4 million more per year" someone has to actually offer it to him.

With all the free agents next year and the market being a owners market. I think we get by wthout paying him a max contract. It might be just good bisness , yes i would like for him to haved signed . But i think we get him cheaper next year . Lessons are being taught to all the free agents right now in Vareajo. I think no one signs him but Cleavland. A example is being used in Vareajo. With Jefferson, Jameison ,Gordon, Deng, OK50, and so on with no teams having money its not much danger in loosing OK50. He will sign for less than a max deal next year.

If we get out with a 57 milion dollar deal MJ will look like a genious.
