According to Stein at ESPN, on this "weekend's dime," http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-071117-18
asserts that Rick Bonnell is not only on the panel that selects the all-star ballot, but is also the PRESIDENT of the Pro Basketball Writers Association! This is news to me. I can't imagine how this guy is president of an association that promotes something at which he so often fails, while he is getting scooped by the Gaston Gazette!
I mean, I hate to rehash the dislike of this man. I know that this is probably a tired topic, and we now are fortunate to have the season to focus on and discuss now. However, this is seriously disturbing for all of Pro Sports Journalism.
Was there a time when he did thorough investigations into stories about his team and was actually good at his job?

I forgot the name of him, that guy who has that Queencityhoops website should be president of the Pro Basketball Writers Association.

It's Brett, and I agree.

Totally agreed about Brett!!!
He got elected this year (president) during the summer. I figure he paid someone.
That's pretty much an indictment of that organization then. Bonnell blows.

My guess is he was elected by his peers, who are largely a bunch of older guys that are pissed off nobody remembers their favorite players from the "glory days" of the 70s and 80s.

Bonnell sucks at reporting and I can't believe a man based in NC would be the head of the probasketball writers association! He gives us Carolinians a bad name

Or perhaps the Alliance of Professional Basketball Writers...
In reality, the Pro Basketball Writers Association has a member count of one, and SOMEONE has to be President.

He's probably lauded in some circles as being "unbiased," "discerning" and "objective."
When, in reality he's "hardheaded," "hypercritical" and "a douche-bag."

I liked that official branding of "a douche bag." Not that I hate Bonnell, but merely b/c it made me giggle :D
Seriously though, I wonder sometimes about his posts, compared to the guys who cover the Panthers (on charlotte.com) they seem to have about a 10:1 blog post ratio to Bonnell's posts (even w/that dinosaur Stan Olson, hell, he at least pops a few cialis pills and has a long island iced tea and gives it a shot more than Bonnell seems to).
Is it too late to hop on the Brett for President bandwagon? I just started my own blog (http://thebrokeststudent.blogspot.com/ shameless plug, ) and I hope that maybe I can just barely live up to the reputation he has (of course, it would be by attracting those who don't realize that 2 and 3 are numbers or who think I'm going to post in spanish).
