I'm expecting Crash to sit out tonight I don't think our chances of improving our record tonight are good if he doesn't play I hope I'm wrong though. One thing I do in fact know is that KG will be a problem like Howard was last night, if Mek is in foul trouble early and J-Rich has another slow/off shooting night we'll be in for a very long game.

With that being said if Gerald is out I hope Matt gets the start over Jeff McInnis our line up SHOULD look like this to start the game Felton, Hammer, J-Rich, Emeka and Fabio.

It was man. Im tired of this team folding up at the end of games. We had 2 straight possessions at the end of the game were we turned the ball over. Somebody's gotta step up and snatch victory in these tight ball games.

Guys, the game summary is saying J-Rich made the bad pass, not Felton. What did Felton do to piss everyone off on that play? I did not get the game on TV?

Spectre: I think people are referring to his error with 16 secs left that resulted in a TO. At least that is what I can figure by the Recap I read.

I thought the Houston loss was bad. This rips your Soul out of your body. Talk about grabbing Defeat from the jaws of Victory. We literally threw it away. It's Karma, just out bad Karma this year.

Hey, they said we had a sell out tonight! Great news! But, somehow I think it was more to do with our opponent than Charlotte's love for the Bobcats. Anyway, the great effort tonight will hopefully get more people coming to the games, at least I hope so!

Those were my exact same thoughts.
47 minutes and 44 seconds of good basketball was thrown completely out of the window with that last play.

Hopefully they're all in the lockeroom kicking each other's ass right now.

Wow. I feel bad for our guys tonight. This is so deflating. I've only seen parts of this game, but by the last 14 or so seconds, I can see that they (JRich, et al) won this game. But it got taken away from us all the same. This is so much worse than the Knicks last year. I just don't know what to say, I'm so pissed off and frustrated. On the bright side, Gerald did not even play tonight. JRich showed that he can be the piece we traded for (aside from inbounding). Ach, screw bright side. This f()cking rediculous.

omg. i was pissed for hours tonight after that mishap. we had the game locked and a bad pass made us lose against a team we are good against and we could have stopped.

omfg.

lets start a damn rivalry right damn now. when gerald wallace comes back, our team better shape the hell up and win the next meet against them. we were without wallace which means we can win the next. and i hope its friggin at their house so we can demolish them.

Come now Ziggy. Ray was just doing his job. People thought he was washed up. Hey, we didn't try to get him, so we cannot complain. Besides, I think it was just our way of leading off the NBA highlights on SportsCenter. Look how we managed to bungle this Victory and make it a loss - that took a hell of a lot of effort.

For all the great that J-Rich did us tonight, he is going to feel like he lost this game with that pass. Truth is, the other guys on the Court did not space out well at all and forced J-Rich to throw into a bad situation. WAIT A MINUTE. DID WE HAVE A TIME OUT AVAILABLE?? IF SO, WHY DID WE NOT TAKE IT THEN?? MAYBE WE DID NOT. CAN SOMEONE FIND OUT IF WE STILL HAD ONE LEFT?

Yes, we had a 20 second TO left, as the scoreboard plainly indicated. Not only that, why the hell didn't Sam put Matt into the game for free throws, as opposed to Jeff. Also, why the hell didn't 3 of our guys get back to our end of the court, keeping either Matt or Raymond on the inbound side, as opposed to fucking lining up as if we were simply inbounding the ball from underneath the basket with 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter?!?!?!? Everybody I was sitting with was screaming for them to break toward our basket or call the 20, and instead we bungle the pass, and it happened.

We are so close, yet so far; still haven't learned to close out a game, and our coach isn't doing us any favors with his late game management. But he isn't the only one to blame:

Two defensive 3 second violations resulting in 2 points; Not getting a shot up on our last 3 possessions; an 8 second violation thrown in for good measure.

All I could do was look up at the scaffolding at the ceiling of the arena, with my hands behind my head. That there was long agonizing shreik of Bobcats fans mixed with yells of euphoria from the Celts fans that was just surreal to hear. On the plus side, as Allen was being carried off the court toward the visitors tunnel, close to our seats, I was able to shoot him a pair of birds, which really felt so much better than having to merely shout at the TV.

Thankfully we're on the road the next 3 games and have a few games of inbetween the games, so this one will be out of the players systems by then and they'll trudge on, and try to put an end to the losing streak.

All in all, it was an incredible game, with great atmosphere with a damn good Bobcats backing (there were Celtics fans to be sure, but we outnumbered them very very easily, which was a great sign since I was expecting us to be outnumbered!), it was just a tragic end due to terrible late game management and an All Star doing what he gets paid to do. What else can you say? :-\

Do you mean the drive and dish to Mek under the rim? Lord. After the screwup at the very end I think it's kind of telling to come in and complain about that. The angle wasn't good, but it looked like Mek was looking at the rim getting ready to rebound and not looking for the pass.

The very last play overshadows pretty much everything else in figuring out this loss...we had the game. I feel bad for all the guys, but esp. JRich because he had a great game. Not all his fault either (using the timeout, spacing, etc.) but he's going to shoulder it.

11-25-2007, 07:52 AM
I was wondering why we didn't put it in the backcourt. I thought maybe I didn't understand the rule or something. The timeout I knew we had and defintely did not understand why we didn't call one instead of forcing it in there.

I can't understand if it was a bad play or bad coaching or both. Someone(s) better be getting reamed out for that. That game was as good as won.

Elite teams get wins like that (and Washington and in Houston). Simple as that.

Can someone explain the lineup at the end. Why did coach have a lineup of McInnis(.889 ft%), Ray(.795), JRich(.586), EO(.516) and Dud(.630)? They combine for a .662 FT%! We have one of the best in the league in Hammer(.945) plus Fabio (6/6 this year) on the bench. Any Division 3 coach would have had Hammer on the court.
What kind of inbound play was that. Coach is not a good coach!

Beagle: If we had the 20 sec TO available, then Sam should have reminded J-Rich of that, and told him to Call the TO if there was no clear inbounds play available. Also, J-Rich should have known without reminding! If he did not remind J-Rich, the fault lies with Sam and J-Rich equally.

I did see where Sam was saying they reminded J-Rich of the TO they had, but did not see where J-Rich took the blame himself. Perhaps you were saying since they clearly reminded J-Rich, you were saying the blame lies with J-Rich. If so, I must agree with you completely. A high school player knows to call a TO in that situation. How can someone of his stature and salary not be smart enough to do that?

Sorry Ohara...the quote was in the Observer piece:

"It was a stupid turnover on my behalf," said Richardson, whose 25 points included several critical fourth-quarter baskets. "I lost the game for my team."

I really feel bad for the guys and hope they can shake this off for Miami. We can point fingers at all the stupid plays (a timeline penalty on Touche' for instance!), but the game was excellent to watch. A lot of our guys stepped up and threw it all into this game...let's not forget that.

Spectre and Eaton: Thanks for clarifying where the quote came from. And I do agree, J-Rich is a good guy who probably feels terrible. Like I've said before, he has been the reason we won a couple games by his getting hot in the 3rd or 4th qtr when we needed it; but he is the Goat tonight. He would have been the player of the game had he not blown that play. Too bad.

It dont matter who's fault it was, it was just a bad play on our part, chalk it up for experience and try to make sure that dont happen again. Im looking at the overall picture here, we played the team with the best record in the NBA and should have beaten them if not for that last 4 seconds. I have to agree "what were we thinking?". I see us right now as a team on the verge of learning how to win the close games. If we knew how to do it at this point we would be 9-4 right now. I do feel we are 1 more key player (a big) from being a really good team. I dont feel as bad about last nights loss as I feel like we got robbed at gun point because we were in the wrong place at the wrong time doing something we shouldnt have been doing....:g:

Mek has got to learn how to be available and READY to catch the ball on Felton's drives to the cup. People get mad when he shoots it, but when he dishes and the teammate isn't doing their part of being available, ready, and catching the ball it still goes back on him. We made the right play going to the basket instead of shooting a jumper, but the execution fell short. To the guy who said trade Felton (who has kept us in and help lead us to wins in as many games as anyone else on the team), it just personifies the simplemindedness of the Charlotte fanbase that has been fostered with the writing of Rick Bonnell.

The biggest issues were the poor design of the play (everyone being in the backcourt), J-Rich not using the timeout, and who was in to receive in that order. In the end, it was a tough ending to a great effort and game that doesn't warrant anyone being fired, traded, or chastised.

All the Catz need more of is familiarity. Why are you all so hyped, you expected them to lose anyway. I commend them for a well played game every quarter, and proving they can hang with the best in the east.

Why did J-Rich inbound the ball, and not one of our two point guards on the court.

All in all, this was the best game I have seen the Catz play this season, and in front of my family, who were saying they are scrubs. They were eating their words all game :)

I was at this game, just got home, but at the end when we got the foul and had the ball with 4.7 seconds left all 19,000 of us were standing in cheers, sadly we made a terrible mistake...why not throw it down to our side of the court, at least if it goes out they have to run all the way across the court...at the end all of us were just shaking our heads...I was on the side of the winning shot and we were all sitting there in shock....it was terrible...good game, but sad lose...me living 4 hours from the Arena it sucked to go all the way and lose, even dispite it being one hell of a game, guess I'll go back next year and we could do better....IMO though Carroll or Herrmann should have been in instead of Dudley...better foul shooters and IMO Carroll did well defensively last night...

No one can't say we can't hang with the best though....

When you're up by 2 points with the ball and 4 seconds to go, and you lose it, especially the pathetic way that it unfolded, if you aren't "hyped" you don't have a pulse. The previous 3 seasons, moral victories were cool; the time has passed for that; it's time to win games you put yourself in a great position to win, instead of bungling it away like we've done for 3 years. Some of the people have changed, but the continuous meltdowns against very good teams when we have them where we want them still happens. The guys, God bless them, need to get a clue on how to close games out, or this is the kind of game the Bobcats will be known for around the league. For every step forward we take, we inevitably take 2 back.

If you are content with moral victories, you are content with mediocrity and a culture of losing, because that's all moral victories give you: a loss.

Basketball 101, Throw it towards your basket, not the other teams. I would not have been a violation, because it would have been tossed towards their basket. If the C's steal it, they have a 80 foot shot.

Baby steps Beagle, baby steps.
I am not content with losing, but I do realize this is a new team this season, who are not yet familiar with one another. PP knew exactly where RA would be when he got the steal. Jason could not inbound the ball, because either he didnot know his teamates or the coaches game plan. I'll go with teamates.Just like Mek didnot know Felts were going to drive and pass him the ball under the basket. They have to get more familiar with one another. I hope this makes sense it's early in the morning.

I still say they played one hell of a game, that everyone and their mother thought they would get blown out in. Now that's entertainment :)

Yeah, I just watched the game. I had recorded it. Now, I've seen the last play many many times, but I didn't really feel like watching the rest of it.

We played very very well. Even Primoz played well. I hope he continues to do so. Dudley stepped into Wallace's shot beautifully. I hope Gerald was watching the youngster play and will use it to elevate his play even more. Last 4 seconds aside, if we play like this night in and night out, then the rest of the season will go very well.
