i know it is a little early but we clearly need some changes to the roster for 08-09... some suggestions to improve on...
1. 2 big men... a scoring option if Primoz doesn't improve and a defensive option
2. a better back up point
3. just more scoring options so we can play around the 100 line rather than 80

If we landed a major scoring threat via Draft, I would not mind moving Okafor to Center and bringing in Antawn Jamison (sp?) to play the 4.

Trading or releasing Brezec, McInnis, and Harrigton.
Signing Jamison like Ohara said.
Adding a PG and Big through FA or the draft.

1. Re-sign Emeka Okafor
2. Sign Raymond Felton to a longer contract
3. Get rid of Primoz, Harrington, & possibly May.
4. Sign a quality back-up PG.
5. Antawn Jamison???
By the way Antawn Jamison made $16 million plus this year, do you think we'll have enough to sign him?

Not without a S&T. However, I've seen more than one Washington moderator on RealGM saying they think he'll take like 7 or 8 million in a new contract...where they got that I have no idea.
I'm hoping he will sign a deal like that, only with us instead.

What I want...
1. Sign Antwan Jamison as a fifth starter for about 11-12 million over 4 or 5 years so he can retire in Charlotte
2. let go of Harrington, Hermann, McGinnis and Primoz
3. Sign Carlos Arroyo for about 2-3 million per year to back up for Felton
4. Draft DeAndre Jordan in the first round and draft Kyle Weaver in the second round
Therefore it would be:
PG- Raymond Felton 6-1 190: Great point guard in transition that would help us with the up tempo pace we want to play... could play more like he did in Chapel Hill with less pressure
Projected Stats- 12.5 PPG, 8.7 APG, 1.3 SPG
SG- Jason Richardson 6-6 225: Would also play really well if he played a similar style to what he did with the Warriors... without the ability to be double teamed he could find a lot more open shots
Projected Stats- 17.7 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 3.7 APG
SF- Gerald Wallace- 6-7 220: Talk about a dream system... he could obviously thrive in the open court plus it would do wonders for his half court game by letting Jamison spend some time on the perimeter so he could do his damage going to the basket
Projected Stats- 15.6 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 2 BPG/SPG
PF- Antwan Jamison 6-9 235: Would be a perfect PF for the system as he could thrive running the floor as well as get open looks from the outside... would do great damage as our number 1.5 option (he, Richardson, Wallace could share the go-to guy role)
Projected Stats- 20.6 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.7 APG
C- Emeka Okafor 6-9 250: The best thing that could happen for him would be the signing of Jamison so he could start being to unselfish again... he and Felton would be the two role starters with the ability to succeed as scorers with the fire power this team would happen
Projected Stats- 10.4 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 2.1 BPG
2nd PG- Carlos Arroyo 6-2 195: Very quick point guard that would do great things in transition... a good shooter that would be Felton like but more consistant from the floor
5.1 PPG, 3.8 APG, 0.7 SPG
2nd SG- Matt Carroll 6-6 205: One of the hardest workers in the NBA that you cannot leave open under any conditions... Offensive firepower off the bench that would get open looks
10.2 PPG, 93% FT, 52% 3PT
2nd SF- Adam Morrison 6-8 210: Would have pretty much zero pressure on his shoulders with this line up and would be allowed to be inconsistant but when he was hot would get starters minutes
10.6 PPG, 83% FT, 41% 3PT
2nd PF- Jared Dudley 6-7 220: Obviously not your stereotypical PF but is our glue guy and one guy is needed to do the dirty work on every team... great rebounder for size
3.2 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 54% FG
2nd C- DeAndre Jordan 7-0 255: One of the revolutionary big men who would need a couple years to become Dwight Howard like and match up with him inside... would provide impact though
7.2 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.1 BPG
3rd PG/SG- Kyle Weaver 6-5 205: Provides great versatility and would be able help this team out a great deal and develop him as a great role player
2.1 PPG. 2.2 RPG, 2.1 APG
3rd PG/SG- Derek Anderson 6-5 190: Would be an insurance policy for the inevitable injuries plus be a veteran leader for this young team
1.3 PPG, 1.7 APG, 0.9 APG
3rd PF- Sean May 6-9 265: If he could ever stay healthy and get off his fat ass we would have a huge gem... just don't count on much
8.9 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 73 DNP
4th PF- Jemereo Davidson 6-10 225: Still to thin to provide a great impact on the team but would be an offensive option off of the bench
3.2 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.5
3rd C- Ryan Hollins 7-0 235: Would be great as the third big man off the bench... could play as aggressive as he wanted while developing post skills
2.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.2 BPG
Good defensive team with a blazing offense that would stack in the top 8 easily in the east and probably earn something like a 5 or 6 seed

The one thing that I want to acquire most of all is an interior player that will knock opponents squarely on their ass when they drive the lane.

I hear ya, we really need a player like that. Hopefully Dudley can become that player.

I think the Dude can be the guy to bruise and get in folks' grill. He does do so many little things well.

I like the Antawn Jamison talk. I love DeAndre Jordan in the Draft also. But, I am really torn. If we had Okafor and Jamison, then rather than Jordan, I might be very highly inclined to look at the kid from Indiana - Eric Gordon. He is going to be very very special. I would love to start him and push J-Rich to the bench. That is a lot of money on the bench, but Gordon will be too good to pass on if available. Gordan, Rose and Beasley are 3 incredible talents coming out this yr. Mayo, Jordan and a couple others will be grat players as well, but the first 3 will be more special. I would grab any of the 3 if available, and then work them into my lineup somehow, someway. Do not pass on special people, even when you think you have someone already who can "be sufficient". Sufficient sucks! Special is blissfulness!

good point... gordon is going to be scary good... kinda a faster ray allen... it would be incredible to get any of those three players... we would have our player to be the so called "face of the franchise" if we were to luck out and fall in the top three in the lottery

how about this:
arenas opts out of his deal, signs with the bobcats for 3-years $60 million (shorter contract cuz of his injury problem).
PG Felton
SG Arenas
SF Richardson
PF Wallace
C Okafor
hopefully pick up deandre jordan in the draft to get a real backup center or maybe andrew ogilvy if we're drafting later.
thoughts?

I'd love to have Gil, and I'm warming to the idea of Antawn too, despite my biases. Any of these ideas seem great if they can be pulled off.
