View Full Version : The Hollins Factor?

When Ryan Hollins plays more than 7 minutes a game the Bobcats are 8-6 two games over .500

Without Ryan Hollins the Bobcats are 0-6. Which makes the Bobcats 8-12, 4 games under .500

I pose this question to you... Is it a coincidence that the Bobcats are winless when Ryan isnt part of the game plan?

You cant go to stats here because it wont help... Ryan's numbers are lack luster to say the least. But the one stat that is mind blowing is that we NEVER win without Ryan playing at least 7 minutes.

So all you numbers guys, figure that out. what difference if any at all does Mr. Ryan Hollins have. Like maybe other players percentages are up when he is in the game or something.

By the way I bought a game worn Ryan Hollins warm up set for 20 Bucks yesterday before the game. They were selling a bunch of junk for charity. So if you see that table again I highly recommend you stop by.

My opinion on the matter is that Hollins, simply by being an energetic body in and around the paint, would enhance our teams ability to score as well as impede the other team from scoring. If nothing helps, he adds a "hustle factor" to our game.

He is going to be good someday but until he learns to get the job done without fouling so much it will continue to hold him back, if he gets that straightened out then he will start again because he is the most athletic of the bunch behind Mek.... :g:

i look at hollins and see camby like potential... he is just still raw but in 3 or 4 years he could be a great defensive big man... as for now he does deserve more minutes because:
1. he is fun to watch because he tries to dunk on people
2. he can succeed in the up tempo scheme
3. he can develop a chemistry playing beside oak

REALLY? Thats amazing, he is actually my favorite player on the bobcats has been since we drafted him (laugh at my whatever screw all yall!) and i wanted his shoes but they were selling for 300 minimum bid :(

I forgot my main point... Ryan Hollins has tremendous potential in my own opinion, he works hard and wants to succeed. With that he can become a great player in the NBA, he needs to get his fouls under control, but when he is in the game he certainly works hard to change all the shots in the paint and contain his man, even if it does lead to some fouls... a lot of fouls

on offense i really think he is starting to develop, he needs to work on his midrange so he can open up his game even more, but with his explosiveness he can lay the hammer down, which is always demoralizing... with work he can be the man, as of right now I can see what he adds, and he allows players who are our key longer minute guys a bit of a break... I think he does change the bobcats

Where was the table located?

Table location: In the main atrium, on the main level, ... if you know where the lower level entrance and team store are... its right there in front of the steps... you can see the score board through the cut through.

thread... yeah Hollins is also a favorite for me. I just wanna see what Brett and all the other stat junkies can show me using numbers.

I think Muttley gave the best example of just his hustle and the fact that you absolutely have to guard him hard down low.. because he will dunk on you.

Must, the talk of number crunching in this thread reminded me to check out Brett's site.

The first thing that pops up is an article he wrote about Hollins' importance. Don't know if you've seen it or if it really answers your question, but it pretty much confirms what you and I were thinking on the matter.

He'sgot hands of stone. Catch some of those passes and make some jams, Ryan!

Ryan brings a lot of energy and effort to the court and we need that. He's also good at grabbing offensive boards which gives us more 2nd chance points. If he cuts down on the fouling and continues to develop his offense then I can definitely see him becoming a great player for us in the next 2-4 years.

That is pretty eye opening. Do you think there are any other factors contributing to it?
