Hmmmm. Define talent :g: Dribbling the ball out of bounds or into the opposing teams hands? Yes, we have talent out the yin-yang!!! GW, Mek and Dudley are the only ones immune from my wrath thus far

Thanks guys.

I ment young talent like Raymond Felton, Emeka Okafor, and GERALD WALLACE. That guy is a great all around player. The team has been in the league for only 3 years. I see improvement from them. Jason Richardson is a nice addition to the team too.

I heard you guys are interested in David Lee, who would you give up for him?

I think J-rich is just being totally mishandled. His talents are not being utilized properly.

I agree, he is a great player, I dont know why everyone hates him, he could be great if we used him properly

I do not understand? How is he being mishandled? He was suppose to be a high flyer wing man to play alongside Crash and be a deadly 3 point shot. That is how we use him, although he is not shooting a high %, does not run the floor so well, cannot play defense, and can only shoot when he is unguarded. He is not being mishandled in my opinion. I just think that he is suffering from a severe mental block. Once he misses something like 4 of his first 6 shots, he loses confidence quickly and starts throwing up bricks. I honestly think the % issue is mental. However, he cannot make his own shot and cannot play defense. He is just not as much as we thought we were getting. It is nothing personal and I am sure he is a great individual with high character. That is good for the team, and I would love him to be a big time 6th man for us, at maybe 1/2 the salary. But, we are stuck paying him what his Contract calls for I guess. That is why I am so critical of the move. They traded away an 8th pick for someone whom I honestly think in retrospect was worth at the most a late 1st rounder. Unfortunately, as much as I detest his attitude and arrogance, Stephan A. Smith was right on with his draft night analysis.

Jason Richardson ranks 18th in the league at 3 pt shooting % for this year (.425)...which is best on our team.

He also ranks 65th among guards in the league at free throw attempts per game with only 2.1!! He makes 60% of them. I think this fact is more crucial than making uncontested treys.

Our whole freaking team shoots a crappy FG%...we rank 30th in the league! My post was clarifying that at least his 3 pt shooting has not been bad.

I totally agree JRich needs to get more consistent, drive to the hole (and finish!) more and post up a LOT more. If he does that then those attempts will go up.

Heh, of course if he's shooting at 60% do we really want him going to the line more?

The entire team is struggling so it shouldn't be a stretch that JRich is too. This is only his 2nd NBA team, and on that one he was THE MAN until BDiddy showed up. Lots of adjustments going on. Odds are in our favor that he will get back to what he's been doing before.

And for his shortcomings...no one seems to remember the rebounds he pulls in. Do you guys realize we're 28th in the league in rebounding? Take his added rebounding away and we'd really be scraping bottom. He also has good court vision; almost every game he's made a "WOW" pass. Unlike guys like Ammo and to a lesser extent Hammer, JRich does other things.

I'm not saying everyone else in the team is great and only J-Rich sucks.. And I haven't given up on him. Most importantly, I'm not blaming him over our disappointing (all agree, huh?) record. It's still too early, but the signs aren't that good of course. I'll stay patient until all-star break, and make no "undervaluing" (hopefully such a word exists in English :D ) comments on our off-season moves (about J-Rich, Vincent etc).

Heh, of course if he's shooting at 60% do we really want him going to the line more?

Exactly. Definitely. I prefer him to see him missing 5 of 7 fts than see him sending 6 bricks per game to the rim from downtown. In 22 games, he tried 134 3 pointers compared to only 47 fts. 1 ft attempt for almost 3 three point attempt. He's never shot in his career with such a huge misbalance in FT's and 3's. I don't understand the problem, maybe he's missing Bay Area but he has to get over it, he has to behave professionally.

Look at Dwight Howard. He's still a horrible FT shooter, but even heck-a-Howard tactic by opponent (...erm) doesn't prevent Stan Van Gundy to let other guys get him the ball over and over. And since he knows he'll need to make them, he's slowly improving his percentage. Because he's not Shaquille O'Neal.

If Jason provides a mentality that he'll always try to force contact, I'm sure he'll try to improve his FT percentage. At least I think most of the people do that way, I suppose. It's embarrassing to miss 7 of 10 FT's, but not more than insisting on taking 6+ treys a game.

Tam I was paying attention to the GSW board right after JRich came back from the surgery, and most agreed that he seemed much more hesitant to get in the paint and post up...was relying much more on his outside game (which is pretty good). Remember that stretch was only about 1/3 of a season, then we traded for him.

I was starting to think he's just lost it, but slowly we're seeing him post up more and mix it up underneath. The team needs to keep pushing him...actually run plays where we iso him against his guy posting up. If/when he gets over that tentativeness fully I expect him to be doing what he has in years' past.

Realistically we should be worrying about Mek's FT% more than Jason's...he's the guy whose going to see the line a lot.

Welcome to the board!

J-Rich is hesitant to attack the basket because he has not confidence in his FT show and he probably feels like it can only hurt us. You guys are right though, he hasn't yet found his place on this team.

You're a good man, tamb (as well as probably the rest of you in the planet) for not giving up on "He who small remain nameless" because I sure have. It is agreed that he has a very nice looking % from 3, but it's not like he's working hard for those shots; he is a statue out there behind the arc making Raymond, Jeff, and GW drive and kick; he's not even got the ability to come off screens and catch and shoot like Matty.

His ball handling is even worse than his FTs. Did anybody catch highlights of today's practice where he tries to take MJ one-on-one, and he crosses himself up with his dribble, and MJ just knocks the ball out of his hands? So pitiful. He just has no apparent basketball IQ, which is surprising considering his college coach is Tom Izzo :-\

That said, I'm not blaming him for the direction of the team; he's far from the only problem; not even the worst problem; but I was hoping he would be a solution. Henceforth, though, I won't throw hate his way: instead of making fun of him, I'll turn my approach to pity. His game, and probably his confidence, like some of you've said has really regressed, and it's sad to watch this guy. I'm really pulling for him to come around, and I'll be the first person to say I was a jackass and an idiot for piling on the guy if he does turn it around, but it doesn't look likely, at least not here in Charlotte.
