As stated here in the summer when they traded for Jason Richardson, I really didn't want to be one of those guys who rags on the Bobcats for never spending and then rags on them some more when they finally do spend.

But I can't help it. Again.

The Bobcats were already slipping out of playoff contention by the time they acquired Nazr Mohammed. You might wish to counter that claim by saying it's too early to make such declarations, but don't forget that Charlotte plays 26 of its final 41 games on the road. The Bobs desperately needed to sustain their good start but were 2-6 in December before rallying Wednesday to beat Utah.

So Charlotte is forced to believe that Mohammed works as a long-term complement to Emeka Okafor, with three more seasons at nearly $20 million left on his contract after this one. The notion that Mohammed is going to help them get to the playoffs this season already looks dubious.

The greater concern, though, has to be Richardson. He's off to an even slower start than I feared in September, misfiring from the line and struggling to click with Gerald Wallace.

...
he is such a jerk... give a rest to hating on the bobcats mark

No, let them talk. Let them all talk trash now. Then, IF we actually sustain this good play and get in Playoff contention, THEN we e-mail the folks that bad mouthed us and let them all have it. Remember, I still have the e-mail of that Jan Hubbard who wrote that crappy article on us a month ago. I'm still hoping that we perform well enough that we can e-mail him and blast his ass good too!

Sweet!! As usual, I like your thinking, ohara! Maybe we can get him to post more often about how pathetic we are, because everything he states in the post has bit him on the ass, notably, Nazr's impact and JR and GW's beginning to gell. While they're not the slashing wingmen...yet, they're definintely getting a good feel for each other, and making some nice passes, setting each other up for easy shots/scores. Very happy with this sudden turnaround, and I'm not naive enough to think MJ's mentoring on Monday and Tuesday (which these national media jacklegs portrayed as another sign of MJ's incompetence in the front office) doesn't have something to do with this.

Out of playoff contention? Is he on crack? We're a half game out with 3/4 of the season to go.

Excellent, you still have Jan's email! I expect to have some choice words for her/him come late May...
