if the cats cannot resign oak then are we looking at a situation where we would get a joe johnson type deal... picks and a serviceable player... what would you rather have?

Really depends on the picks and the player....

If it was the Sonics unconditional 1st and one of their bigs - preferrably Wilcox or Collison. I'd consider it. Maybe trade Morrison as his value is highest there, and we could possibly get one of their high ceiling prospect big men, or maybe Ridnour to backup Felton, or even better a conditional 1st rounder in a later draft...I'd be happy getting that top 5 draft pick though...

The reason I consider it is because it gives us value in multiple spots. Big men in Wilcox, collison, etc; potential PG depth, and a high lottery pick in a deep draft that could get us Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Deandre Jordan or others that would be a great fit.

Good point with that morrison value. And also that would allow us to have two top 3 picks if the season ended now.

That Morrison value you're talking about might not matter if they pack it up for OK City.

Joe Johnson type deal = Extension + sign and trade deal for a restricted free agent to a team under cap.

Firstly I wanted to remind this, because at the beginning I couldn't remember if J-Johnson was a restricted FA and that type of deal is technically possible. It is.

Sonics looks just like the Hawks of 2005. Emeka Okafor can help them in many ways. Hopefully we will tie Okafor, but if he wants to quit, or if we wouldn't want to give him the money he wants but Sonics would, demanding 1st round picks is sounds more logical than taking back expiring Wilcox. But they will understandably be reluctant to give away their potential top 3 pick. Nick Collison or Ridnour should be included in the deal. But I don't want to lose our keeper for money. I guess he'll understand his real value (he'll admit he's not Dwight Howard) and accept our 65 million offer, exactly same as we did this summer.

I cannot imagine another team instead of Sonics. It's better to wait the end of the season to see the situation more clearly.

there are many rumors about the sonics moving to ok city and the morrison factor would lose it's luster if morrison was taken away from the pacific northwest

I'm almost sure that I read somewhere that the OKC move was almost a done deal, but I can't dig up the link where I read that.

The owner of the Sonics has "officially" requested to relocate to OKC. The owners have to get together and either approve it or not.

There's also litigation going on by the City in trying to keep them there (they're under contract thru 2010 or 2011 I think)l which has yet to be resolved.

No done deal yet...but the wheels are in motion.

Because of NOLA's dismal showing at the box office there's a lot of rumors there as well. One is the Sonics stay in Seattle, Hornets move to OKC and the owners switch teams. Another is the Sonics going to OKC and the Hornets going to Seattle.

Kind of makes sense, as no doubt the NBA would be loathe to lose the Seattle market.

Spectre, in any of these situations does the NBA lose George Shinn? Because that would probably be the best for everybody. Maybe Stern can trade him to Siberia or something.

Yesterday druing the sonics game they talked about how portland was in the same situation but the owner decided to keep the team in Portland. Hopefully for the sake of Ammo they stay, because I just dont see Adam fitting in with us after that season last year. Plus he needs to stop smoking because he is diabetic and that cant help.

Yeah, the owners officially requested the move to OK City, and Seattle is fighting like hell to keep the Sonics.

I would love their pick, but I just cannot see them accepting Okafor and Morrison for a pick in the top 3 this draft. I know Okafor was a #2 and Morrison a #3, but when you are talking about Rose, Beasley or Eric Gordon, I just dont see them trading that pick. Of course, I could be wrong. They may do something to piss of Seattle and make them not want to keep the Sonics if their ownership does that. Interesting!

eh? Was that a joke or does Adam smoke? ???

I don't see us trading Okafor unless we're getting a top pick and legit baller in return. Granted, Seattle is in the position to offer that in a Collison/top three type situation. Even still, I'm not sure I'd do it. Okafor is still pretty important to the team. As much as he's disappeared during games this season, he's pretty critical to our success.

I'm not sure the last dozen games is any basis to analyze where our guys fit into long term plans. There's obviously been some trouble adjusting over the last month and a half. The second half of the season should be much more telling.

I salivate at the thought of a top 3 pick. Okafor is great but the top 3 picks are franchise cornerstones in the mold of d-wade, bosh, etc.

And yes, Morrison does smoke, as well as chew. I can't find the article, but remember reading it in the preseason transcripts that the official site had.

- Bobcats swingman Adam Morrison. Morrison not only chews tobacco, but smokes cigarettes -- rare for NBA players.
