Vincent also mentioned the team lost its starting point guard from last season. That player – Brevin Knight – left the team against his will when Bobcats management chose to buy out the remaining season on his contract. Knight so wanted to remain a Bobcat, he was willing to stay here for less money under a new deal. Instead, he’s now a Los Angeles Clipper.

I'm pretty much speechless.

Uggghh you hate to hear excuses like that from your head coach.
It almost sounds like he has given up on the season.

I'm going to split this off into its own topic, its definitely worthy of its own thread of discussion.

At best, Ammo and May might have been good for 25 pts pr game, but then you have to take away some of the production of others from the bench who would not have played at all.

I do not know if he's giving up on the season as much as he is just being honest. He made the prediction when May and Morrison were expected to play major roles this year.

*But the Brevin Knight thing. Forget that the team ran Knight off when he wanted to stay. The big thing to me is that this is a direct slam at McInnis and Felton as not being good enough PG's for the team. I think that this signals that he and mgmnt have given up on Felton as the PG of our future. That is what I take from the comments more than anything else.

I really think you may see mgmnt make a serious push for a trade involving Felton now. There are few realy good PG's coming out in the draft, and it would not surprise me now at all to see us package Okafor and Felton to get someone and another Lottery pick. On the "Trade" thread, I mentioned seeing Okafor, Felton and Carroll go to Memphis for Gasol and Memphis' 1st rounder. That could seriously go down now in myopinion IF Memphis were to consider it. We have apparently talked to them in the recent past according to articles.

He needs to accept some blame, the more I hear him, the less and less I like him.

It appears to me that Vincent is bucking management instead of being in sync with them. He's looking everywhere for excuses about our record while taking no blame.

Vincent says he can't win with the status quo and whines for another big, basically hounding management THRU THE MEDIA to get a partner for Emeka. He refused to play Fabio, stating continually that Mek must play the PF position.

Management complies, taking on salary for 2 expirings. Jordan got critiqued for that move, mainly because of the salary implications.

Management decides during the summer that Felton should have the chance to be the unquestioned PG of the team and buys out Knight, retaining McGinnis as the lone backup.

25 games in, Vincent states TO THE MEDIA that Felton's growth is being hurt by playing so much off guard and will play the PG almost exclusively from now on. TWO DAYS LATER Vincent totally reverses himself and states that Felton isn't a pure PG but a combo guard. He also says that now Emeka CAN'T play PF but is truly a Center. Last night Vincent effectively told management they were wrong in releasing Knight.

In less than a week Vincent has went against 3 of the 4 things management did this summer IN THE MEDIA. Two of those were flat out reversals, one within days of what he himself said he wanted.

Somehow I don't see Jordan admitting that he's so clueless...especially when the charges are coming from a rookie coach. Does anyone think he appreciated Vincent saying he wanted Jordan on the floor during games, basically repeating some of the crap those haters on Charlotte.com continually rant about?

This might actually work out in the end. Jordan might not fire Vincent because of his record...but running to the media with rationalizations might do the trick. Isn't that what people were worried about with Larry Brown?

We just deal with yet another year setback. Wonderful.

Wow...I'm sort of speechless too...don't really know what to say. I'm rapidly losing the desire to support this guy. He is the number one cause of the teams difficulties.

My first reaction though to the article was for Bonnell to "just stop it." That Brevin Knight is even a point of discussion is ridiculous. No team is going far with him at point guard. No one seriously misses him; other than Bonnell and Vincent I guess.

As for Vincent...well this is just further confirmation of what I've been fearing. He's not a good coach, and that's being nice.

We aren't remotely missing 40 points of production. With Morrison injured we're probably actually better off as he is potentially one of the worst players in the league; and Sean May has been injured for ummmm 2 SEASONS and pretty much we all knew that he couldn't be counted on.

Really Morrison's injury was a bonus and May was never an option.

One more time...play Felton at PG; drop McInnis to sub. When you have to play a team with 3 quality bigs; put Dudley in there with Wallace and make the most of it. Develop Davidson...now. You've got a roster spot; pick up a PF or a PG please. DAMN it isn't that hard.

And stop making excuses good God.

The negative energy around Vincent and this team is getting exhausting.

Yet there is so much positive...JRich is excelling now as is Gerald Wallace. Felton is actually a fine Point Guard if anyone would let him do that. No he isn't Chris Paul or Deron Williams, but he's Raymond Felton and he's quick as hell; is an excellant ball handler; can score the clutch shot when needed...jeez I'm sorry I know he's got some flaws, but his heart is totally connected to this team and I'd really like to see him be given the chance to succeed.

Okafor is not Dwight Howard; nope he's not. But if we'd just stop messing around, we could enjoy having an elite defensive Center and one of the leagues leading shot blockers in the paint. I hear he's not so good at guarding forwards shooting from the corner; go figure.

Okafor's had plenty of excellant games scoring in the paint on put backs and inside feeds. Just work on that. Forget the other weird stuff.

sigh...really this isn't rocket science. We have the fricking tools to be a playoff team; but enough flaws to get exploited and knocked out early in the playoffs. That's what we can be. But with the current atmosphere and lousy coaching; we're mid-lottery like last year. What a joyful place to be.

Im here with you half way, the negative energy around vincent is now rediculous, but its really frustrating to see how he deals with it, and so far its been terrible its not my fault its... but oka and ray slowly are hurting this team, emeka can go out and have 15 rebs and 5 blocks one night and score no points, and I would be happy, but he disappears, with 6 rebounds no blocks and 2 points of 1-6 shooting... thats not productive minutes. Felton is tremendous at driving, he is strong enough to really get to the rack and a hard worker wants to be the leader, but he just is not there yet, he will start off poorly and then vincent will bench him right as he starts to get into a rhythm. Its painful to see how vincent subs players out, but only mr. mike can get rid of him

I really think you will see Mike move players in a blockbuster trade before he gives up on his Coach. One character trait he has illustrated over the years is a fierce loyalty to his friends. He will dismantle the core of the team and make major adjustments before he keeps the players intact and fires his friend. That is my read on MJ. I think we would be more accurate if we were trying to predict trade scenarios which may work rather than wish for Sam's firing.

Brevin Knight? Seriously?

I'm about done with this guy. I hate to give up on anyone associated with the Bobcats, but he's gonna have to really turn himself around to get respect. I was not sorry to see Brevin go, at all.

With Sam questioning moves that MJ had a big hand in, do you still think that MJ will be loyal? I'm not so sure.

FELTON IS FINE PG, HE SHOULD NEVER BE PLAYING SG UNLESS SOME FUNKY INJURIES HAPPENS. Heck, he got 6 assists as an SG last game or the night before it, I think.

I WANT CARROL OR ANDERSON RUNNING THE POINT BEFORE MCINNIS, IF IT'S GOING TO BE 30 MINUTES A NIGHT.

We can only hope so.

But anyway I'm not surprised to hear the excuses start to come out when I saw the "Feltons a combo guard that has point guard qualitys" shit I knew the BK card would be pulled anyday now.

About missing May and Morrison I do agree with him to an extent that we would be somewhat of a better squad with a healthy Morrison and May but, injurys happen you have to work around that and use what you have. Coach Vincent is doing nothing but stating the obvious to the media with those comments. Why wont he speak on how he has/had guys on the roster that could have picked up the slack in Fabio, Jared Dudley and Davidson and him not given them any consistent minutes? God this season has been frustrating.

Coach V is flat out crazy. I never thought i would have missed Bernie so much . At least Bernie was straight up . M. J . has given him everthing hes wanted, Signed Rich, Locked up Wallace . Those two has been good for about 50 for the last five games. Got a center in Nazr who was averging over 10 and 10 while starting. Signed the great Mcinnis like Sam wanted.
A few questions i can't understand.
1. Is Rich not good enough to be a starting two guard.
2. Did Nazr not do a decent enough job starting at center.
3. Is OK50 not able to play the p/f spot he was drafted to play.
4. Is Wallace so much better at the four than the three thet we have to play a small line up.
5. If Felton sucks so bad why don't he just beanch him and start Mcinnis.
6. Dudley our first draft pick ,can some one tell me if hes a three or a four? And tell me why he's not in the rotation at all.
7. Why do we not let a big back up a big and give Hollins sone burn . He seems very active when on the floor.
8. Can someone tell me what the hells wrong with seting a rotation.
9. Can some one tell me how he gets away with all but saying Felton sucks, to bad to play NBA ball. That could only hurt his value.
10. Can some one tell me how hes getting away with lieing to the Charlotte fans[B.K for example] losing our starting point.
11 Has anyone ever heard him take the blame for ANY SCREW UP THIS YEAR.

And we can't understand why the players have truble playing toghter. I don't see how this guy could win with any team from what ive seen so far. Hell if we wanted somone just to cut the players down we could of hired Larry Brown at least he can coach a little.

Wow; that was a pretty impressive rant. I give that one 2 thumbs up! You gotta feel a little better getting that off your chest. Oh, and the answer to your questions: He is; he did; he's not; no; we will when we get someone better; he's a 3; b/c Hollins aint good either; nothing; beats me; not sure what the lie was; he did take some blame for the missed time out in the Celtics game. And Larry Brown can take a good team and make it a very good team, or a very good team and make them a great team. I do not know if Larry can take this team and turn it into something that can sniff the playoffs.

That's the best I can do with your questions tonight. Gotta get ready for the Georgia-Hawaii game.

I haven't felt good about Sam for most of the season, and this takes it to a new low. If you listen after the games on the radio they do his presser after the game, he sounds completely lost. I must admit I usually only listen after losses but every time he blames effort or if someone went down for a while with and injury. He takes no accountablility ever.
As far as Ammo and Baby Fat, I think if we had them available we'd really have lineup issues. Would one of them start over any of the "regular" starters we currently have? We've had what 6-7 different starting line-ups? Where would he put them in his "rotation?" Because the guys we currently have, I don't know if they know if they'll play that day or not, cause i sure don't.
BK was an option at PG where I don't think Jeff "How High" McInnis isn't. Ray is a solid player, has been for 2 years (avg. 13.2pts and 6.3ast through this season)(better than his time at UNC by the way) "how high" will never be a guy, let alone the guy for us at point. I think it's the system not the player when it comes to Sam's PG problem.

I don't think we know enough about his personality to be able to assume/infer what he means by those snipets Bonnell cut and pasted together. I'm not convinced he didn't qualify those quotes during the "interview", it's just that Bonnell wanted the blog to read a certain way. In the case that these quotes are totally in context, then is it possible that Vincent is trying to light a fire under the team by indicating that the playoffs aren't a realistic goal? That May, Morrison, and BK are all true difference makers?

While I'm by no means a Vincent sympathizer, I'm just saying there're other ways to interpret his comments, including the source of the blog those comments are from.

Nonetheless, I'd like a reason why Jared isn't getting any PT, which seems inexcusable. Likewise Jermareo (send him to NBDL or give him some minutes; the guy is corroding on the bench at this point.) Also, no more weak-ass zone defense: if they'd run it correctly, that's fine because there is poor team speed on D, but that lack of speed is even more exploited in zone because the recover so damn slowly, giving up open 3s, and worst of all, giving up holes in their zone for easy layups/slams!! MJ needs to bring in Dean and teach them how to play zone if Vincent isn't capable.

Any coach that makes excuses, and pulls the Brevin "starting PG" card instantly loses my respect.

Sam, You're being a horrible coach. As with the captain of a ship, you're last off the ship and it's always your fault and responsibility for what happens.

Team speed is the reason we play zone. I started thinking about that.Coach Vincent is the main reason for that.
1. Felton , hes one of the top five fastest players in the league. All so hes always in your face.
2. Wallace do any of you guys think hes slow . He does gambole in the passing lanes and gets beat that way .But that could be fixed quickly . Just tell him to stay at home.
3.OK50 hes not known for his offence but is considered a defencive stoper.
4.Rich I have been watching him close the last few games . Hes got some speed . And the last five games hes been average at worst.
5. Mcinnis now he couldn't guard a high scool player. He don't even try to keep some one out of the lane.Slow yes hes 34 years old and not in the best of shape.
6. Nazr seemed to do fine defending the paint.
The players don't communicate on the floor like last year.So im saying Vincent is giving up at least ten pts a game because hes not teaching team defence. No one is talking or helping out Zone or man to man.
Carroll, Dudley, Hollins and D.A. somtimes Davidson should be the only ones geting burn off the beanch.

What im saying is if Felton can't play the point play D.A at point because Mcinnis stinks the joint up bad . He should have never made the team. How in the hell can you be a starter and be ranked over 400 in player rankings. SO the NBA is saying its at least 399 players better than Mcinnis.
Vincent does that not give you a clue. Davidson and Dudley are both ranked way higher.
But you keep saying hes better than Frlton at the point. I know Felton is ranked in the sixtys just about 300 spots ahead of Mcinnis
COACH VINCENT GET A DAMN CLUE.

All so BIGCAT welcome to Bobcatsplanet . Great first post have fun and keep posting.

Well said dav7z, we should cut McInnis and sign Boykins but I dont think they will. V is in love with McInnis it seems like and I dont get it. I think V should "Have" to have a blog and explain himself to "we the fans". It will never happen but it would be cool to have something like that.... :g:
