I really think the day after the season he'll be gone. I think he is still trying to put Ray into the combo/SG role. Why the hell would you have him and Earl Boykins on the court at the same time? Then you put Matt Carrol out there at SF? His line-ups baffle me. I don't know but I think don't think there is a team in the league that comes out of the half flatter than the Bobcats, what does he say in there? It's worse than them not listening, it has to be something that makes them come out with the attitude of "What the hell? Screw him!"
Worse than giving up on him I think the team has decided if they win it's in spite of him. Where is this run and gun style? He doesn't have it, he just doesn't work as a coach.

a party might insinuate that this is personal. I have nothing against the man whatsoever. In fact when he first popped up on the radar i thought it was a cool idea to bring some new blood into the league and do things a little differently. and anything was better than bernie.
Now its just evident the team doesnt respect him, and no one can call anything he does good coaching. IF and thats a big IF we win a game.... its usually a scenario that even Sam couldnt screw up. Coaching the Bobcats just isnt his thing... i hope he goes on to a better suited life choice.

On the Bobcats page off ESPN.com, there is a taped segment with Ric Bucher and Marc Stein talking abuot Coaches in trouble. Stein was addressing Larry Brown rumors, and mentioned Charlotte. He said MJ does not want to fire Vincent, but that a growing number of people in the organizaton feel that Vincent was the wrong move. They feel that Brown would be a way that MJ could let go of Vincent for the good of the team, hence saving some face for picking a bad Coach.

Bonnell weighs in with things we've already said:
The roster is flawed, but is it this flawed? They have to win their last two games to match last season's 33 victories. They played harder, night-in and night-out, under Vincent's predecessor, Bernie Bickerstaff. Whether or not they admit it publicly, there are plenty of players frustrated with Vincent's management style and rotations.
Do you cut the cord now or hope Vincent improves? I'd say the odds are 50-50, and I suspect this could hinge on the feedback Jordan and general manager Rod Higgins get from players and their agents after the season.
I believe we've discussed this here already. I really hope that management listens to the players and does the right thing.

Notice how Bonnell played it safe by giving the 50-50 chance? We need a real coach to get to the next level, HB is a hope crusher, he dont get it and has to be reminded to make changes during the game. We need a good players coach, someone that can not only teach but also unify our players.... :g:

My year end prediction is mathamatics in nature
With the way we turned things around the past few weeks, we are playing harder and better. More cohesiveness as a team; more unity. This is the good news.
The bad news:
Given the J-Rich and Dudley additions, and the loss of May and Adam for the entire yr, and factor in the new Coach and the team having to learn him and his having to learn the team. Then the "X-factor" of MJ wanting to save face on the hiring.
Having roughly the same record as last yr = Vincent returns

Get rid of him now we didnt even match last seasons record, who cares if we win the last game now, it dont matter this coach sucks. Get us a flippen coach that knows how to win basketball games. :g:

I seem to agree with your assessment. Also, I hate to say it, but lately with all of the bad press, I seem to think that Jordan and Bob purposely make the worse decision possible. Whatever doesn't please the public . . . sign them up.

32 - 50. one less than last season. We added J-Rich and Dudley, but lost May and Morrison. Coach is coming back, so might as well bury this Thread. We can revive it next season if he starts us off in the crapper again.

If Sam isn't fired; there is no way the Bobcats are getting one more penny from me. This is serious now, especially after all the punk talk this past week.
MJ needing to be paid to make a public appearance for the team?....my God
and Nellie goes off too? Ugh what a horrible way to end this horrible season.
I have a feeling Vincent will be our coach next season too. He's MJ's guy, they used to be teammates. I don't think he's gonna be gone. Get ready for another off season of promises followed by disappointment.

Awesome, Keetch!!! We're definitely in agreement with this. My cousin and I are talking about going in for STs, and there's no way in hell that happens with the coaching situation as it is now. To do so now would be an act of support for the status quo and I'm not having any part of that

I'd like Sammy gone as well. Our D sucks and every game almost we get killed in the 3rd qt. To me thats a sign of a bad coach. I've watched the Bobcats sence they came here and never have I seen them not play hard like I did sometimes this season. You never saw that when Bernie was here. I hope they do something soon.

Its been less than 24 hours since the end of the regular season and 2 coaches have bee fired. Jim Boylan and Larry Kry(random series of consonants)... Unfortunately The Biscuit is still on the payroll. If he makes it through the first week of the offseason then we're probably stuck with him.

Exactly. They dont fire coaches several weeks after the regular season ends. It's quick. By the end of next week, Friday 4/25, if he's still with us, he's back. Bank on it. And no one will be making a big deal of it as the NFL Draft is next weekend, and that, the Playoffs and Baseball will be all people care about.

Well that would be unfortunate. I just can't picture going to games next year if Vincent is coach. I just can't see it right now. How absurd.

Hell, I guess your're right, ziggy. Maybe though it'll take a little longer because they want to make sure they have their next coach ready to sign on the dotted line while Vincent is packing his things, which presupposes they have one main candidate for the job, or at most, two. Plus, a quick firing would make it look like MJ didn't give the matter any critical decision, making his guy Vincent look even more pathetic. Let's face it, because of personal issues, this won't be an easy decision for him, so I think if it goes on for longer than a week, there's no need to be too worried. With Boylan, Krystowiak, and Thomas, the writing was pretty much on the wall months ago, and we've known with MJ and Vincent, it won't be so cut and dry.

It does bother me that other East teams have already released their coaches, and we have not. But I just can't imagine Vincent being around next year. That would be a terrible move if for no other reason than public image. There's a poll on The Observer's website, I'm sure some of you have already seen, asking folks what they think the team needs most. "New Coach" is currently in 2nd place with 28% behind "New Management" at 35%. I'm willing to bet that if "new management" wasn't an option then "new coach" would have half the votes. Also, maybe management wouldn't get such a bad rap if they didn't hire ill-prepared head coaches.
Sam Vincent must go now.
perhaps having to buy him out has something to do with it also. maybe they are negotiating some sort of buyout/ demotion plan.
addendum: it's too bad you can't reassign a coach to the D-league like you can players.

Things are starting to even out on the poll. It's now 30% "new coach" and 32% "new management." Assuming that MJ and BJ read the Observer, it could be helpful in reminding them that they need to Fire Sam Vincent if the results were overwhelmingly in favor of getting a new coach. (Almost as much as a season ticket holder withholding funds until the coaching situation has been addressed.)
Chef, if we could send Sam to the D-League, then who would have to step into that role that is already with the team? (Assuming we're at the max roster for coaches...) I'd say not Paul Mokeski. Is it too late to call up Del Curry?

Beagle,
Micheal Jordan need to put person issues aside, after all, this is a business.
Sam Vincent's hints of coaching philosophy, inability to motivate, communication with the players, establishing authority, or look like he knew what he was doing on the bench is enough for termination.

That the players have effectively tuned him out is reason enough to let him go. And that happening on this team of all teams, with the character of the players that we have, makes it even more immediate of a requirement.
If they're going lose motivation by keeping the coach (no matter who he is), then that coach must go.

we could leave a roster spot open like we did earlier in the year and use DA as player coach. he couldn't possibly do worse.

Very True. He should've posted a team picture, because nobody had any clue what he was doing. One of Bonnell's actual decent pro-Bobcats blogs.
