View Full Version : Why? (an open letter to Sam Vincent)

Dear Sam,

Why is McGinnis starting (or playing at all...)?
Why is Narz not getting the minutes he got when we first got him?
Why are our rookies getting fat on the bench?

Why are you sticking with these so called moves of yours to finding the perfect rotation?

How long of a losing streak do you need to realize that your "tinkering" isn't doing s*it Sam?

Because as a fan, I've always been patient with this team, since day one. I knew it would be a few seasons before we would be playoff contenders. Going into this season I along with all other Bobcats fans (and apparently you as well) were talking about the playoffs. I remember you saying something about a 4th seed in the East. Really? With Jeff McGinnis as a starter? I don't think so Sam. I don't know what happened from then to now but just to let you know, unlike in seasons past, there have been no big injuries to our key players oh and um we added a legitimate 20 ppg scorer in the off-season oh and Wallace has now developed into one as well. So we have two 20 ppg scorers, one of the best defensive C/PFs in the league, a 14 and 7 PG (better than most teams), two promising rookies (which you despise for some odd reason), a veteran solid C (something we've never had in the past) and a solid scoring option off the bench in Carroll.

This right now is no doubt the best roster the Bobcats have ever had in their short history. We actually have the pieces to be able to have an identity, but you know what they say "the identity of the team is often the identity of the coach" well if that's the case then Sam, I'm sorry to say you need to walk yourself into MJs office and tell him to fire you.

Sincerely,
Alex

I completely agree. I know our expectations may have been a little high. but this is the best roster weve ever had. period. they should be doing better than this. and its the coaches fault.

ive been watching the NBA for a long time. and it may just be the fact that im scrutinizing him more because hes my coach... but ive never seen worse coaching in my life. its embarrassing.

Have you watched Isiah Thomas coach in NY? There is at least one worse coach. And at least our coach is not a pervert w/ an $11 mil verdict against the organization for his perverted actions.

Good letter. Send it to the Observer. Maybe they will print it or something.

I agree with all you guys . It takes a real smart coach to have a 4o year old starting point guard. Who had what 2pts and 1 assist in thirty mins of play last night. This has to make us the laughing stock of the NBA. Someone please do somthing about Sam and his so called experments.

Great post Alex, it brings it all back home very eloquently.

Seriously, you should send this to the Charlotte Observer. Maybe Bonnell will print it. If you were trashing Felton he'd sure print it.

I'm with the concensus: Very well written, well argued letter, Alex! I too thought in order to make the playoffs we'd have to stay healthy (which we've done) and other teams would have to have injuries (like they've done: Heat, Wiz, Bucks, Nets, etc.) and over 1/3 into the season when the playoffs are brought up, we might as well be Jim Mora: "Playoffs?!!?!?!?! Playoffs?!?!!?!?! This is the best group of talent we've ever had, and we're likely going to finish with less wins than last season, and maybe even season 2.

Wrote an email to Bonnell and he says that the players are just as confused as we are by his game decisions (and postgame comments). He also gives Vincent a 40% chance of being fired by season's end, which is "pretty high, considering it's his first season."

Lots and lots of intrigue abounds as this season rolls on, and, unfortunately, the losses roll on too...

No reason to slow the outcome, do it now salvage some sort of respect for the team and players.... :g:
