I hope everyone's excited for tonights game! Not only is this going to be a game of epic offensive proportions, featuring some of the most athletic players in the game, but will be the epic return of J-rich to face the Warriors for the first time. Here's the projected lineup:
PG: Jeff Mcinnis VS. Baron Davis
SG: Raymond Felton VS. Monta Ellis
SF: Jason Richardson VS. Stephen Jackson
PF: Gerald Wallace VS. Al Harrington
C: Emeka Okafor VS. Andris Biedrins
One thing of note that is a bummer: It's not expected for Earl Boykins to be ready to play tonight. The same thing goes for Chris Webber. Having those two in the lineups would have made the game even more interesting.
The big storyline thought tonight will be the epic return of Jason Richardson. Long a fan favorite, Richardson is remembered in the bay area for his intensity, love of the city, and having that inner drive to bring success to the then-perpetual losers that were the Warriors. He is often remembered for his front page newspaper piece apologizing to Warriors fans for failing to make the playoffs. Here's a link to show how much heart Richardson really has:

I think tonight we really match up well. Not only is this the team we modeled ourselves after (with obvious less success) but this is one of the rare teams that we are equally sized across the board at each position. Al Harrington plays a small 6'9 and Gerald should be able to obliterate him tonight. It will be even worse if Matt Barnes starts, even though he has proven time and again he's a feisty player and can bring it on any given night.
Once again, the marquee matchup tonight will be the battles between J-rich and Captain Jack. Honestly, can you remember a game this year where a Bobcats player has had implications and such a memorable past as Jason? In fact, has there ever been a game like this? A battle of Team leaders. Fortunately J-rich is more mobile and should prove that he is superior.
Will all this project to a win? I can only hope so, but I think we will have a fire lit under us tonight for Richardson.

This game is HUGE. It is so late at night though....
J-Rich will have some emotion tonight I think. I'd bet the place goes nuts when he gets announced.

Great job with the game thread Bumpus
For those that like to spy on the opposing team, here is the game thread for tonights game on Golden State of Mind (http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/story/2008/2/1/05918/60844).
Golden State of Mind is absolutely THE best Warriors site out there, and one of the top 2 or 3 fan sites on the web period. :afro:
I strongly urge you to check it out.

I'm telling you guys, you gotta get there early, if you don't have season tickets just walk up buy a $10 ticket and get in the rock the rooftop area. I think it's first come first serve. If you get in a seat that is assigned the usher for our section is like a hawk and she will get you out of it, shes a cool chick though. 216 is where it's at. Oakland fans are nuts, GSW fans are some of the smartest and best fans in the league. Man they miss J-Rich. Were people pissed we gave the Branden Wright for him on this board at draft time?

I was 100% pleased!
Really worried about Monta and Baron. Ellis is faster than Felton and boy can he finish, so that's going to be tough. Jeff McInnis on Baron Davis...geesh, made me kind of sick just typing it.
Crash & Mek should have monster nights and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for JSwish...hopefully tonight's his best this season.

Ditto!
I feel like we usually get killed by being "out-bigged" (over the course of the game, that is, not just Jeff's play). So, being "out-guard"-ed instead on paper is a little less frightening. But, the Warriors have been playing well. I hope JRich goes ballistic on the nets tonight, as that will almost be necessary to the win. I know we can do it.

Found this on ESPN's rumor central
Earl Boykins joined the team in the Bay Area on Thursday, and Sam Vincent plans to play him in tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors.

We really need this win tonight! It'll be a really interesting game, what with JRich and Boykins! Let's go Bobcats!

Love the pace of the game so far. Gotta keep the score low. Need to stop jacking up 3s and look to move the ball and get inside. Other than that, much better performance to begin than last year's game where we were already down by 12 or so.

Eh. Guys are still sleepwalking on defense like at Sacramento. If we don't show any interest on that side of the court, this game's over by the half. Also, terrible movement on offense, plus too many close misses by JRich. Inauspicious to say the least... :g:

A 36-8 run. They have 53 with 8 minutes to go in 2nd. I'm going to watch Flash Gordon now and go to bed. Another wasted opportunity to gain on those ahead of us who lost tonight. Another wasted chance.
I'm beginning to think we are not as good as we want to believe we are. Pity.

Sucks to be right. One positive to take from this so far: our starters can at least not lose any ground when their bench is in....okay, so that's not really a positive, but there's not much to grasp at at this point

Excellent game from Mek in 1st half!! Aggresive at both ends and on the boards! WAY TO GO, MEK!!!
Very good half from GW (FTs are still off though).
Good half from Raymond. I'm sure the ankle's making it tough to stay with Ellis, so I can't criticize him for that.
Everybody else? Maybe they'll get on the plane to Denver and we can get some guys from the stands to take their place; won't play any worse. ::)

Raymond is playing good, and he needs to be running the point for at least the rest of the game. JRich needs to hit shots. Other than that, I think we could use two bigs offensively to get more baskets underneath. Mek's doing great, but we're missing too much from outside. Let's give ourselves two options down by the basket. This may affect us on Defense, but I haven't seen any yet in the 1st half so what's it matter? (Okay maybe we played a little D towards the end there, but how many times does Jeff have to get blown by before Coach sits his ass down?)

Boykins isnt comfortable yet, fine. But damn what is goin on? seriously we need to step it up, but its not like it cannot happen 21 points is not insurmountable, and the warriors are well streaky. We can do this with solid d and good shots.
AND NO FUCKING MCINNIS... he is a joke out there, turning it over, getting killed on d. hes pathetic. Good lord dont play him. I am getting so pissed

im watching the bobcats presenters and they arent that stupid. McInnis needs to go. Frankly after watching this horrible game, I'd be happy to trade everyone but jrich crash and mek. Mek has been stepping it up, which says two things to me.
one. hes not as bad as i thought
or
two. he doesnt try and since its a contract year hes now started to try. bad attitude

Well, he's finally getting to see the floor.
Man, I hate to say it, but we suck. This reminds me of the Warriors game in Oakland last year in which we got trampled in the high 20s or low 30s.
And our coach, boy, there aren't words strong enough to describe his suckage. Vincent is single handedly taking my love for the bobcats and flushing it down the toilet. Not only are we at a slight talent disadvantage on most nights, but he wouldn't know a decent lineup if it hit him right in his bug eyes.
Oh, and Boykins, McInnis, and Vincent's brain are the freaking death of Raymond Felton's basketball career. Take a talented player, make him play a position he's not used to playing, give him some PG time every now and then, and then continue to criticize him while playing the worst player in the NBA instead and signing a player who has played on 7 or 8 freaking teams.
I am sick, sick, sick of this.

Random thoughts about the game:
1. It's criminal that JD isn't geting any regular playing time. Admittedly, he was playing against their bench, but he was working his ass off on the boards, great passes, and he did well on Jackson when he was still in the game in the 3rd. What a waste :(
2. This is the best kind of loss you can possibly ask for; you can have your "moral victories" and the inherent heartbreak that accompanies it, but give me a good ol' ass kicking. This was the least frustrating loss since the Suns game earlier in the season. It was apparent, we wouldn't have won this game if we played good. They were on, just like last year; contested 3s or not, they were going in all night long, and it was the 2nd qtr burst that combined with our offensive woes that put it away. Also, we have plenty of rest for tomorrow night's game.
3. It was a blast seeing the Nut (AKA Ryan Hollins) have a mini dunk fest and get T'ed up for taunting after slamming over O'bryant so hard he knocked him to the ground. Was it classy? No. Was it funny? Yes. Give me funny on a night like this.
4. Despite the rest for our starter's in the 4th, tomorrow night is probably going to be ugly. Raymond irritated his ankle again, and GW sprained his ankle also, so it's likely we'll be without one of them, and highly possible will be without both of them. :(
5. This season is crumbling before our eyes. We're 11 under for the first time this season (I'm pretty sure) and it'll be 13 under after this trip is over. I thought our guys could rise to the challenge, but it's not going to happen apparently. It's disappointing, but I'm okay with it: the fact is we are a VERY flawed team with an even more flawed coach. Still....maybe we can reel off some wins once Boykins gets into the flow, and then we should be right back in the chase, but there are no expectation on my part. I just want the guys to continue to bust their hump, and not give up.
6. I can't see the Warriors getting into the playoffs this year at all. They are such a flawed team. I'd "Box and 1" their asses, with the 1 being BD. The box would keep Ellis from getting to the basket over and over and over and over. I'd widen the box significantly so that you can close out quickly on their wings Jackson and Barnes, and I'd invite them with the wide box to look inside for their scoring, which they can't do against good teams. As long as you don't try to run with this team, you're good. They hate to play defense it looks like, and overplay the passing lanes which makes them susceptible to being outmanned in the half court. They're a good team, and they're a great team when they're making their shots, and when they play a poor defensive team, but they aren't that good.
hahahaha McGinnis got the most PT out of anybody on our roster. HILARIOUS.
fire vincent please.

when a team shoots better from the 3 then from the field, you know they are going to beat you. They shot 10-18 from the three. We shot 3-17. that defines the game right there.
Then to have jeff play thirty minutes and rack up wait for it.... 4 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE. At least in 23 minutes, Earl 5 points and 3 assists. and he was bricking them like crazy, once he gets into the flow of things, he better start over McInnis. Seriously.
On a more positive note, how about Ryan Hollins, 4-4 from the field, 2-4 from the line (not usually that bad) with 10 points. Thats nice.
Basically we looked like shit, I am not going to lie, I fell asleep in the 4th. That game blew. Damn. Sorry Jrich.
I feel so bad for Jason Richardson. He had just elevated (yeah elevated) his team to the next level, they had fun, great chemistry. And then he gets dished to us, where we cannot support the team, we cannot hire a coach who knows how to coach basketball. Vincent has no idea how to coach on this level, its apparent every night, and its disgusting. Its upsetting we only have 18 wins this far into the season. We have a lot of talent and a decent bench.
FIRE VINCENT.
MJ For Coach.
