Agreed it's the coach. The positive is if this keeps up he'll be history come next season.

It really sucks when you reach this paradox that you want the team to win in spite of Vincent, yet he will get the credit. So, you want him to continue to fail so as to not have a team next season, but then the team fails with him.

It does seem as if he visits this board alot, which is sad, because you would think being around the team, he would have his own input.

Bonnell's actually written a couple of books about the Hornets (GASP!). I saw them at the library (Maybe It's just one, I think it was two though).
Anyways, I read that article this morning. It's pretty spot on.
NBA is struggling enough as a whole, but it's really fledgling in this city. The Bobcats are a laughing stock to lots of people right now, and I honestly don't blame casual NBA fans for not caring about how the Cats are doing.
I still love this team, and the NBA is an awesome product in my opinion. It's just hard to get motivated and excited about a team that is getting waffled stomped, squandering leads, having the coaching staff blame players, etc. night in and night out.
The funny thing is, I know (Well, I pretend I know) that the talent level is there to at least compete with other teams, it's just not getting done. So somebody upstairs has to shake things up, or this franchise is going to implode on itself, and it sure as hell won't be pretty.

Well, we just got passed by the Clippers who are now % points ahead of us. We now own the 6th worse record in the NBA. the Knicks are 2.5 behind, Memphis and Seattle are 4 behind, Minn is 6.5 behind and Miami is 7.5 behind.
The Knicks will pass us. They have too much talent not to. I expect Memphis and Seattle might, or at least 1 of them. I think with The Matrix, Miami will make a good run this 2nd half and pass us. Minn will not. If I havd to guess, I'd say there is a good liklihood we get the #3 pick based on records, #4 at worst.

You know how you can tell the season is slipping away? Because after games, there are usually posts on the Planet for a couple hours. Several and with good insight and commentary. Tonight, hardly anyone has the energy to write, even if the game was bad. It cannot be tiredness, as the game was over by 9:30. And last night was not really very bad. We played without Crash against a much better team, and we took them to the wire. I was proud of the effort last night. And even though there were not many posts, I know all of you were as well. They did at least fight to the end.

Our thoughts are hiting the news much more . The team can't continue like this. Or we loose what little fan base we might have. I bet some kinda changes are made befor the All star break is over.

The sad thing is how much of a laughingstock the Bobcats have become in the community. I was looking into setting up that group thing where my volunteers get recognized on the court before a game, plus I think it'd be fun. The reaction from one of my volunteers? "Does that mean we actually have to stay and watch the Bobcats?"
It's a shame...I love the Bobcats, win or lose...the losses may frustrate me, but I like having them in town, and I like the group of players we have. But hopefully the hiring of Hammy McBiscuit is not an indication of how the franchise will be run, because we'll continue to bungle things until someone steps down or is canned. I wish I had the time/money to attend a ton of games, but regardless I follow the team as closely as I can and I really want them to succeed. I hope management steps up and makes some smart decisions for a change, smart BASKETBALL decisions, not popularity decisions or buddy-buddy decisions. And I would love it if the players were more visible in the community...appearances and signings seem very rare to me. That Valentine's Day signing some of the players did at the Carolinas Place Mall one year was awesome and a ton of people showed up, but that's the last thing like that that I could remember

it was clear many weeks ago that we were playing worse as a team, and our players were playing worse as individuals (most of them, anyways).
it just continues to get worse. REALLY hard to watch. i zip through most games now (on DVR) and that jog speed, watching the leads grow, checking to see if we make runs, watching to see who - if anyone - is playing well for us. it's an unmittigated disaster. no denying it. and yes, i still believe with teh right coach we'd be in teh thick of the playoff chase right now. the east blows. no excuses for not competing with some of these teams.
vincent killed what might have been a breakthrough season, at least as far as reaching the level of a team truly regarded as competitive.
we're going backwards - faster and faster by the day.
our poor players look f'n miserable. proud of them for not having a serious meltdown yet ... yet.

The thing is, the team was playing very well prior to that West coast trip, but only for a few games. It almost mirrors the beginning of the season in a way.

I agree. We had a good chance to be a playoff team but we got injured. We will be better next year.
BUT!
We draft NO ONE!!! I swear the Draft doesn't solve our problems. We need to trade our pick to get a established player. again.

Sheesh, I have to tell on myself again. Like the Detroit game, I watched very little of the Lakers game. I watched the beginning and saw Gasol get slam after slam after slam, and cut the thing off and went and hung out with my dad. We ate a bit, talked some, watched some reruns, and then I informed him very dryly at 7:45 or so, "Oh, by the way, I decided not to go to the game," and we both had a good laugh. He flipped on the game during the 4th when they were down 13 and made that fierce run which was great, but then the usual happened: uninspired defense, missed shots, turnovers. I'll have to admit that was a good 2-3 minute run, and I actually got some of the old excitement back, but the fact that I had 2 tickets to the game, and not only didn't go, I only watched about 9 minutes of actual game action....not even a bloody quarter. :-\
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a Bobcats fan for life; this is just a defense mechanism I use when my teams struggle. No telling how many games I didn't watch at all last year, or the year before, and definitely year one, and sometimes I only watch about 9 innings a week when my Astros struggle during baseball season; much less stress the more you distance yourself from the team, plain and simple!
Still, this season has been particularly disheartening. Even during the 13 game losing streak last year, I may not have watched many of those games, but I thought we usually had a chance to win. I seldom remember our guys looking absolutely lost, confused, disgusted, etc., as they have this season, and it's just ugly and depressing to watch.
(As an aside, former Bobcat employee Matt Devlin, the guy who knew the inner-workings of the team for its first 3 seasons, said on Mark Packer's show that Vincent is definitely gone, but he isn't sure if it will be before or after the season. Also, he's in the LB corner, and thinks he could relate to these guys much more easily than anyone might think.)
I'll be at the Hawks game (though it's more for the Steve Smitty Smith sighting than the actual game), but I'll wear something Bocatsy, will cheer loud when the situation warrants, and hope we can play some inspired ball, and pull out a win before the All Star break. Who knows, this could be Vincent's last game at the helm........Hell, all we can do is hope at this point.

I'm in the Larry Brown corner also, or Paul Silas. One is a great teacher, the other is a good teacher. Neither has a high price tag right now, and both are ready to get back to coaching.
For the love of God Bobcats management pick one.
All this team need is a little refining. :D

terrible excuse. Great teams survive injuries, and we havent been hit that hard with injuries this season. Geralds is the first longish term injury. Cannot write every season off to injuries like we have in the past, its part of the game, and a good team should be able to deal with it. Unfortunately when you have shit for brains coaching, it doesnt work out even when your players are healthy

I was so excited about everything that was new for the Bobcats, New Coach (Not anymore I'm not by the way), Jason Richardson (After what I seen him do during the Mavs/Warriors playoff game), New Arena paint, we even had a 2-0 start first time ever for the Bobcats.

^Agreed with MattD about his "great teams survive injurys" statement but thing is I honestly couldn't put us in the rank with the elite squads of the league right now. We have a lot of potential to be a great team and make some noise in the East but once again the injury bug hit players that I thought were going to contribute this year, put that with a rookie coach and you a terrible combination.
Losing both May & Morrison for the year was huge IMO since I expected both guys to contribute to our bench scoring not to mention May could have started if he was healthy. At the moment I don't doubt for a second that we have our best team ever for the Bobcats franchise mainly because J-Rich and Wallace have gelled so well together but that doesn't mean anything with very little depth which leads to our starters having to play 40 minutes a night and getting worn out which I think resulted in most of our L's this season just my take on things.

Puts us all in a real difficult situation. You never want to pull against your Cats. At the same time, this season is a lost cause. Would one last loss before the All Star Break seal the deal to Vincent's fate? Almost worth pulling for the Hawks if you knew Vincent would be gone with a loss, eh? Not sure I can ever pull against the Cats. However, if I knew we could bet a Larry Brown or Rick Carlyle, I have to say I might actually consider pulling for Atlanta tonight. **I am not saying I will; just that it would be tempting if you knew we'd have a new Coach and established winnier when we come back from the All-Star break. Thoughts.

I would pull for the Hawks, if it had anything to do with getting rid of Vincent, and ending our season in a respectable manner with a new coach.

I'm right there with ya, O'Hara. Damned if you do, damned if you... still have Vincent as head coach.
I'd love to bring one of those high-profile coaches in, but really I think anyone right now would shake things up enough to give the guys some new fire out there. Right now they kinda look dejected, and I hate it for all of them. They need something to change for them to give them that hope again.
There's not much to say that hasn't been said. I think people want to be fans...but winning is required. When we were making that run people started asking me about tickets and what was going on. Now, not so much. I haven't watched a game in a couple weeks.
