The Nets have agreed to trade Jason Kidd and Malik Allen to the Mavericks for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, two first-round picks and cash, sources tell Tony Mejia of CBSSports.com.
The deal is expected to be finalized Wednesday
If this turns out to be legit the Mavs gave up a lot but Kidd, Dirk and Howard will be a sick trio.

People are moving around arent they? Wish we could pull off some kind of miracle for our team. Lets start with a Fine Ham Biscuit..... :g:

My brother is a big Nets fan and when he heard the news he was pissed. In my opinion, the Nets got the better end of this deal. The Mavs gave up A LOT.

The Nets got an AWESOME deal for Kidd.  The guy was asking for a trade and they got Devin Harris and Diop plus 2 1sts?  Stack's a great 6th man if he's healthy, but regardless he and George (as well as Diop) are expirings.
If I were your brother I'd be partying.
I'm also reading the Nets sent Wright to Dallas for a 2nd...don't think THAT was very good. but that was probably just trying to balance the trade a little bit back towards Dallas as IMO it's heavy to NJ.

Mavs rolled the dice. They gave up insisting on Harris, and the deal immediately happened. After this trade, Mavs will have absolutely a sick line-up in Kidd-Terry-Howard-Nowitzki-Dampier. But what about the bench? They've send a starter and two solid back-ups. Cuban will definitely stay busy to upgrade Mavs bench as good as possible.
Harris might be good in near future, but definitely not will be a Kidd. This deal proves what a negotiator Rod Thorn is (remember Vince Carter deal). He insisted on Harris and got him.

Talk about mortgaging your future to win right now. The west is going crazy trying to keep up with the joneses. "They got who? We better make a move quick!" Kidd is a nice player, I don't think Harris was going to every get to be near the player he is so for right now I guess 3 years of Kidd, until he gets unhappy or retires, is better. Cuban will have to fill up the rest of his roster.

wow, crazy. I think both sides got what they wanted from this. The Nets have been worried lately with the decline of their big 3, it seems, and didn't have a direction player-wise.

Now it's being reported that the trade has been blocked lol.

With the New Jersey Nets poised to complete a blockbuster deal to send Jason Kidd back to Dallas on Wednesday night, Mavericks reserve forward Devean George has unexpectedly exercised his right to block the trade, according to NBA front-office sources. Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that the teams verbally agreed to the deal earlier Wednesday and were preparing to submit the trade for league approval when George informed the Mavericks that he wouldn't consent to being included in the deal, which is his right based on a rare provision in his one-year contract.

Ouch!!!
The Mavs could trade Eddie Jones instead...that might work alone or they could add yet another bench player.
George says he has it good as he's starting now with the Mavs...wonder how long that'll last?

This is probably a surprise to both teams. You're probably right Spectre, in that the Nets will agree to taking someone else instead of George, but damn, what kind of reputation is that going to leave you with if you're the ONE guy that stops the Mavericks from getting the PG they so desperately want. You think the fans won't turn on you for that? (No doubt the organization will hold a grudge.)

Hah, now Eddie Jones says he won't report if he's traded instead!
If they really want to do this (and it certainly looks like they do) I guess they could just cut him. Maybe Cuban can figure out a way to slip the Nets another 3 million under the table.

I respect his decession, I wouldnt want to play in NJ either. I mean if you were on a team that could maybe win a championship and find out now you are getting traded to a non contender? hell yeah I may just refuse to show up myself.... :g:

Conspiracy theory!!!
Cuban asked George's agent to nix the trade so he could sub in Hassell for Diop & George!
I wouldn't put it past him...and that probably would make this trade a little more even. Stackhouse has already said he's going to push for a buyout and then return to Dallas.

This trade has become pretty funny. First I thought the Mavs were giving up too much, then I head the $3mil is to buy out Stack so he can return to Dallas once the trade is complete, next I hear Devan George is blocking the deal. Was he ever good enough to put a no-trade clause in his contract or was that like "oh sure Devan you can have a no-trade clause" and then snicker behind his back? I would be pissed if I was one of these Mavs players. Cuban takes care of his guys better than anyone in the league and they have to go live in the swamps of NJ and play for a team that no one cares about in front of uninterested fans?

I think George has the no trade clause because he's a one year deal. If I'm not mistaken McInnis & DA have the same option.

They do. I think George's reasoning behind this was his inability to make as much money in the future.
I like the Conspiracy Theory.

I'm glad you guys know about all this contract stuff. I've only got enough space in my brain for my work stuff, pop culture, Potpourri, my limited knowledge of women and what little I learned in school. Can anyone explain to me why George thinks a team will pay him over the cap, or whatever people mean by the "early bird" or "larry Bird" rule?

It's a good thing Mark Cuban has a lot of money because he's gonna have to charter a huge plane to fit Jason Kidd's son's dome
