Seriously, why is he still in a Bobcats uniform? He hasn't played in more than 1 game at a time in years. He is like Sean May, but old, which is worse.

Can someone please tell me why he is still a Bobcat? To make trades equal in $$$? I don't even think that is a good answer.

Thoughts?

you dont know what he does for the team in practice and in the locker room. He may be a mentor for some of the younger bigs (mek and ryan) or he could be a big piece of team "glue" though what hes putting together I dont know.

As soon as I saw the topic I said to myself "Get him out." Useless roster spot. I'd rather bring a kid out of D League or something.

Small trade idea:

Harrington for Elson/Spurs’ 08 1st (currently 25th).

Why for us…25th pick.

Why for the Spurs…Studemire put them approximately 200,000 over the luxury tax limit which will cost them a little over 2 million in revenue sharing. This deal saves them 800,000 and in total contracts and approx. 300k-350k this year…giving them a total savings of roughly 2.5 million bucks.*

Be nice to get something out of that fat piece of worthlessness.

*all numbers are rough.

if these numbers are correct spectre.... this is the best trade idea ive seen proposed on this site in 2 years.

they would definetly want to save some money and we definetly could use an extra first rounder (maybe trade their pick and our second for a lottery)

We dont necessarily have the cap space to go out and get another huge player without a trade. so going smart in the draft is about the only way to make this team better at this point. that and firing sam vincent of course. thats an instant 10 games right there.

Wrong, your coffee table would stay in the way if it was between me and a basket.

This is what they ended up doing, and it saved them about 400k in salary and put them under the luxury tax... allowing the 2 million in revenue shares as well:

The San Antonio Spurs have reached agreement with the SuperSonics that will bring them center Kurt Thomas in exchange for guard Brent Barry, center Francisco Elson and a 2009 first-round draft pick, league sources said Wednesday.

Take note of how a smart winning franchise operates. The other teams knee jerk and make gigantic moves...the Spurs on the other hand save money AND fill a need with basically a late pick. Thomas is going to contribute and he provides an 8 million expiring.

The Seattle management is pretty bright too. They parlayed essentially nothing into three first round picks. Even though they're late round picks, that's still strong and provides them a lot of possibilities to continue to rebuild.

What I find odd is that we can't (or won't) trade expiring contracts like what many teams seem to be doing....what's up with that?

We want to free up our money, not take on any more long contracts is the only reason I can think of... :g:

Nick Fazekas was cut by Dallas after the trade for Kidd and he may be a perfect fit. We could give him the minutes Othella is not getting. I don't know much about Nick but he played solidly in the D-League. He can't be any worse than having a guy like Othella warming the bench, getting paid and doing nothing to earn his pay. I say take a reasonably cheap rookie off waivers and give him a chance. With that said, the way SV uses his players a healthy Fazekas may not play either.
