How long and as few step as possable what will it take for vus to be contenders in the east. YOUR OPENION/

Mine we not as far as some of you think.
1st A experanced players coach[SALIS]
2ND A healthy Morrison , and May.
3rd A solid free agent to stablize the four spot[ Jamison]
4th A very solid draft pick a four /five/ point / the best left.
5th Add a solid point to back up Felton .At a cheap price . Points seem to be the cheapest position on the NBA market
With just those few moves i think we can cotend in the east next year.
THOUGHTS.

I pretty much agree, although I don't have a coach in mind.

First I need to see two things before we can really say where we're at:

1. Change in coaching
2. See if the players can play together in a system on a consistent basis.

Until then, it's somewhat difficult to see how close we are to contending.

Vincent is terrible, but this team should still be winning more games than it has. There are issues besides Vincent, but it's tough to tell exactly what they are. Although, all the things you mentioned seem to be the clearest.

Not only all that you guys are saying but what worries me right now the most is this 4th concussion of GW's. Sounds like it could be worse than we all thought, so if he were to have to retire of quit or sit out a long while it may take a while to be contenders in the East and I hate it ..... :g:

One decent coach away from 6th seed or so.

You guys are right on. I'm not pinning my hopes and dreams on Jamison because he's just not going to be there for us as far as I can tell right now. As soon as I saw the topic I said 3 players and a coach, simple as that.

My greatest optimism hopes for this next year:

PG Felton
SG JRich - Carroll
SF Wallace - Dudley
PF May - Davidson
C Okafor - Mohammed

But there are some huge problems getting to this.

1. Vincent and management will likely continue to refuse to start Felton at PG; I won't be surprised if they resign McInnis. They haven't figured it out yet and probably won't. I have few hopes that they'll change
2. They'll try to fit Morrison in somewhere.
3. Sean May won't be ready by opening night for sure; and its more likely he won't play at all.

So...some suggestions:

1. replace the coach and his staff and possibly the whole management team.
2. we need to play Morrison some in the preseason to show him off and then trade him.
3. we need a quality PF very very badly, a quality backup PG and a defensive-minded wing player.

A whole new coaching staff and a whole new roster sans maybe 3 or 4 players.

I agree it is tough to properly evaluate what we have b/c of our atrocious coach, but we are solid in 3 out of 5 positions in our starting lineup with Crash, JRich, and Mek. I hope we can get lucky in the draft and pick up a solid 5 like Hibbert. I think with a quality coach (hell I would settle for mediocre right now) we could be closer than many think.

About Crash, I am worried about the concussions becoming an issue like troy aikman and dan morgan in football. I know from reading alot on morgan last year that once you have one they are much more likely to happen again. After surrering 4 concussions, and the cavalier almost reckless way GW plays, we might have an issue on our hands.

I agree with most of what you have said. I am not so sure any pg we went and got would necessarily be a back up to Felton, the verdict is still out on him. I do feel that we could use another big man on this team. What we need is a strong intimidating presence on this team. I feel this team is just too soft. Judging by recent injuries to Crash and JRich, we really need a banger on the inside who can open lanes and grab hard fought boards imo. I do feel Nazr can play adequately on the post when given the chance to do so. Just a wild thought, but a return has been talked about in the past. What if MJ could get Dennis Rodman off retirement for at least one season? Would love to know what he could give this team for one year. That is doubtful but you can't blame a guy for dreaming can you?! Now with that out of the way, I do feel what this team could really use is a big banger, a guy who clears driving and passing lanes with his physical presence and who can grab a ton of boards. The pg spot has been weak but that is partly the fault of the teams lousy head coach and his staff.

I don't know what will be available in the off season but if anyone of value is available the Bobcats better make a move in these two directions imo.
