View Full Version : Very difficult not to think tank now.

Don't get me wrong: tanking is a loser's mentality, and one we would be poor to embrace.
However, when you see the team playing so badly and making so many stupid mistakes, you can't help but have big ideas about the lottery, which begins with having as many ping pong balls as possible.
Man... such a disappointing season. I feel like we all need to meet in Charlotte when the season's over and drown our collective sorrows.

We dont need to tank. We suck bad enough. We just need to realize it is time to blow this mother up and start from scratch. Keep J-Rich and I'd keep Ray as I feel he really can be a top 10 PG when we give him the players around he needs.
Okafor has got to go. He is really becoming a downer. I did not see the game, but 20 minutes and only 2 pts and 3 reb. If he was hurt, I understand. Or was he pulled for being ineffective? Anyway, there is some sucker out there who will give us a Lottery pick for him. Crash, he can bring us a Lottery pick also. If we can get a couple bodies and two Lottery picks to to along with our 1st, I'd be happy. I could grab 3 great young players to put alongside Ray and J-Rich and make this team a great young team.
Don't worry Dnbman,
I don't think we've got many wins in us regardless. I just hope we win vs. Miami this Saturday. I have two tickets left on the season and I doubt we have a shot at Boston. I'd like to see one more win in person.
Other than that, there's no one on the schedule I feel like we will beat. I mean, to get clobbered by the Grizz, then lose to the Pacers I only having us beating Miami and Minnesota the rest of the way, and those are debatable.

Lets say we went all out and tanked. Theres no player that we can draft (Beasley and Rose included) that is so good that it will keep Sam from coaching us back into the lottery next season.

I agree that the team and its coaching staff are bad enough that they don't need to tank. But even if they did tank, and win 2 more games, or maybe even no games the rest of the season, we're still stuck around 6-8 worst team. Seriously guys, there are some terrible-ass teams out there that couldn't catch us if we played a 120 game schedule: Miami, Seattle, Memphis, Knicks, have no way of catching us even if we go winless.
T'Wolves are borderline: they are a very much improved team, but because they are in the west, they won't catch us either, but they're good enough that they aren't lumped with the losers listed above.
Clippers, Bucks, and us will battle it out for the 6-8 spots, as we are equally atrocious with one another. Now can we pull a miracle and get a top 3 spot even with a 6-8 finish? Possibly. But losing from here on out isn't going to improve out lottery position, and I imagine we'll catch somebody who's sleeping more than us, and we'll pull one or two more out.
I was gonna buy tickets to the last game of the season, it has been tradition with me every single season but I'm not spending money to see this. 5 game winning streak to 5 game losing streak, you've got to be kidding me.

Tanking would not put us a better position for lottery. Like you said, we'd be around 6-8 anyway. Look at how Miami lost to Toronto. There are some other teams with the same situation, those will never pass 20 victories, not even 25.
So let the guys play, as well as they can under Sam Vincent.

If we weren't willing to tank for a better chance at Greg Oden then it doesn't make sense to tank for a better chance at Beasley.

That's true, except we were on an upward trajectory leading to Oden. With the current pilot, we appear to be on a downward trajectory... with no landing gear, one working engine, a busted rudder, and not a single mini-bottle left on the plane.

Isn't he just fun to watch! It's like a man amongst boys. He just has so much talent. God, if we had him, tickets would be hard to come by in Charlotte. He takes you inside, he takes you outside, and he is a rebounding fool. The ball just seems to gravitate to him, the way Dennis Rodman could just always be in the right spot.

Sam would find a way to screw Beasley's game up... Trust me.

Good lord Ham Biscuit would have ruined MJ's carrier if he would have been his coach....

I agree with ohara's assessment of Be Easy, but zig is absolutely right. Hell, we've seen how "coach" utilizes rookies with JD: lets them accumulate moss on the bottom of their warm up pants sitting on the bench for the first 3 months, then plays them sporadically the rest of the season. I know he'd give Be more PT (at least I think I can give him that benefit of the doubt :g: ), but he'd find a way to hamper his game be it with rotations, poor play calling, putting him out of position.....you know, like he's done for the entire Bobcats roster from Day 1!
Like most all of us are in agreement on, true progress and improvement can't even begin until the "coach" on the bench is dismissed.

I think in a way we should and probably are, finishing out the season giving a majority of the minutes to rookies and hollins. No reason to even play GW again, let him rest and get his brain (concussion stuff) at 100% along with his shoulders etc. Jrich can still start so he goes 82 games, so can mek, but continue to give Jermareo, Dudley, and Hollins more minutes

We play some horrible teams, outside of Philly, to finish the season, but I still think we lose 2 more games with "coach" at the helm. So, yeah, we're back in the 50 loss club after getting out of there last year... :(

We have a shot tonight vs Minn. But after that, we are at NY, at Ind, at NJ and home vs Philly. I see a 1-4 ending and a 30 - 52 record at worse, and a 3 - 1 at best for a 32 - 50 season. Either way, its Ugly!
