Might be as dumb as a house brick, but man what a shot blocker!!

There are some promising signs in the "house brick" stakes though. He improved his FT shooting from last year to this year by almost 20% - which is nothing short of amazing and shows his ability to learn, work on his game and improve. He's playing with more aggression and dunking more (as shown by his rise in FG%) and isn't as lost on D and still has all the other tools that peaked peoples interests last year.

He rarely bites on fakes so he is a very efficient shot blocker and is rarely in foul trouble. He runs the floor well and establishes good position in the post, but his problem is still defending the pick and roll and knowing when to rotate.

I also get a little worried that when he hits the NBA he wont be able just to camp out in the paint on D and if he gets pulled out of the paint he looses his effectiveness.

Comparisons: Dalembert (IQ) meets Mutumbo (shot blocking)

Best Fits: Denver, Suns, Toronto

Thabeet should really stay at least one more year in college. He's shown a huge ineffectiveness against the pick-and-roll, and anyone who pulls him out of the paint basically renders him useless. His offensive game is still SUPER raw, he's just not anywhere near NBA-ready, except when it comes to blocking shots.

Agreed amour217. Another year or two in school would be perfect for him given the improvement he's shown already after 2 years.

In saying that, he would join the NBA today and be a factor from day 1 due to his shot blocking and size alone.

But if he did stay in school, he would have the chance to:

A - improve his offense
B - improve his BBIQ
C - seriously improve his draft stock

If he stays another year and keeps progressing the way he does, he'll possibly be a top 5 pick.

I'd love to draft him next year :afro:
