View Full Version : Kansas Vs Memphis - The NCAA Championship Game!!
Not sure is this should be Bobcats games only, but there is no Bobcats game on tonight and I know there are some hardcore college hoops fans on this board who will be watching the game and thought we all might want to comment on it?

What to watch out for:
Rush Vs CDR - Should be battle of two very smart, offensive charged wings who can create their own shots.
Joey Dorsey - Expect him to try and rip the back board down on at least one occasion as he dunks tonight!!
Rose - Is the talk of his stomach ailment legit or a smoke screen? If it is legit, will it hold him back?
For the record:
I think that the Jayhawks are a slightly deeper and have a little more in the way of big men which will get them over the line by single digits.
MVP will be Mario Chalmers

Well I'm excited! ROCK CHALK for sure! Nice post SLAM. I wish I had your confidence in KU. I think Memphis is one sick team.
I don't think the Jayhawks have had this good a team since the long-gone days of Paul Mokeski and Scot Pollard. Well, the '88 team with Danny Manning (wasn't he from Greensboro?) was 'aight.
I've ROCK CHALKED at the PHOG many, many times. But since moving to NC in '85 had lost touch with the place. This past fall I had the opportunity to go back and visit for like the first time in 20 years. It was pretty surreal. After sitting in the Bobcats Arena so much, the PHOG was kind of a dump! lol. Ha its just very utilitarian is all.
Very Bright though. All the seats are Bright Red or Blue and the centercourt has this huge birdy thing on it. Nice.
go HAWKS beat those prep-schooled 20-something Memphis bad boys. OOPS Rush went to prep-school :P
I think that the Tigers will get a case of the "yips" from the free throw line and it will cost them the game.
That and the Jayhawks ability to stroke the 3 ball.

Memphis has been the best team all year. People kept doubling them, and they have dominated the last 3 schools they played. This will be close, but too many athletes for Memphis and too much talent.
Great games from CDR and Rose, but CDR with the MVP.

memphis... all that needs to be said
Entertaining game so far. Kansas has the Tigers big men in early foul trouble which will really hurt them later in the game.
At the moment I feel that Kansas' best is better than Memphis' best but Kansas is only playing their best in spurts.
They need to slow the pace and control the game.

CPR ,top 10n pick tHE mvp . The guy is a easy top 10 pick mabe evaen a top five , He can run ,slash play defence , shoot the three , a nice jumper . Its nothing this guy can't do . Hin a Rose is a deadly combo.
CDR sure is looking good dav.
I've also ben very impressed with Rush's attack on the ball. He's really using his length well.

Rush is looking very good to . He must have a hudge wing span.
Rose is not at all enjoying being played to closely.
WOW!!
And to overtime we go!!
Side note: Memphis could have iced it at the line but CDR and Rose got the "yips" and their big man dept is hurting because Dorsey fouled out!!

You called it Slam.
If (when) Kansas win, it's going to be hard to pick a MVP.
Who do you think dav?
If Memphis had won it would have been CDR for sure.

ROFL HEE HEE :) I do enjoy a good basketball game.
Mario Chalmers rocks. ICE. So does Brandon Rush; and Darrell Arthur...and and Sherron Collins....and Bill Self! How about Uncle Roy wearing a Jayhawk on his shirt! That was a very classy move. Like they said the Tar Heels and the Jayhawks have a lot of common history. Dean Smith grew up in Topeka Kansas and went to the same High School as my wife (he's older though lol). She's a year older or younger than UNLV coach Lon Kruger who went there too.
NOW BRING SOME LARRY BROWN TO CHARLOTTE AND MY WEEKS COMPLETE.
NO FURTHER WORDS....going to sleep VERY well this evening.....
Bobcats announcement tomorrow at 8 pm.....what could that be?

Keetch must be losing his shit right about now!!
Now that was funny!!!! I was thinking the same thing when Chalmers knocked down the 3. Also, great call about Memphis and their FTs, Big Slam; they'd been bragging about how it was no big deal, and they hadn't lost because of that this year, but when the pressure was at its peak, they couldn't get it done.
For Keetch, I agree about the close KU/UNC connections. My surreal experience with this phenomena was that when I received my acceptance package to UNC, on the same day, I got a packet from KU with materials about the university (something about sitting on "the Beach", is what I remeber the most about that stuff...if that makes any sense? Isn't there a place on campus called the Beach? I just remeber how strange that seemed.) That was pretty crazy, and I still don't know how they got my name and sent me the stuff, but I got a kick out of it.
Hopefully this will finally put a rest to any lingering animosity towards Roy by those still bitter after his exit; after all, Self did what he never could; plus, to be perfectly frank, he's been the better recruiter. Arthur, Jackson, Kaun, and the other big hoss white boy...we'd take any one of those guys for Thompson and Stepheson any day!
Sleep well and see you tomorrow.

I said CDR would be the MVP, and he was. He bricked 3 from the line in the last couple minutes. So sad.
Rose was still great. Yeah, he made some FR mistakes, but I think is was nerves. He needed a half to get himself together. Not even his NBA debut will give him butterflies like he had last night. But he took over the game with 12 min to go and scored 15 of his 18. 18 pts 6 reb and 8 asts. His missing 1 of 2 FT at the end was sad, but the miss was in and out, not a brick. The kid will be money at the next level.
Congrats to all the Jayhawk fans!
Agreed ohara - CDR was great all night and for the entire game. I thought Dozier played well too. As for Rose - what a freak. Does nothing for the entire first 1/2 half, nothing for a 1/4 of the second half then flicks the switch for 5 mins in the 2nd half and nearly wins the game for the Tigers!!
Most importantly, from an unbiased observer (I didn't really care who won, I have no interest in either team) it was a really good game to watch and a great way to end the NCAA season.

My boy CDR chocked with the game on the line . But i still think he will make some one a good loto pick . A draft sleeper??
Rose wow hes hard to compare to. Hes a real deal . He might be a safer pick than BEASLEY.
Rush seems to have all the tools to be a good NBA player but his brother keeps getting caught in my throat. Rush did play a nice turnament.
Great game didn't care who won . Got my tail kicked when Carolina got killed.
My personal turnament MVP .Curry, He even lit up the national champions .
