Tonight's game against the Timberwolves will be televised live on FSN South. Below is the schedule for the remainder of the season:
Tuesday, April 8 @ 7 p.m. ET – vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – FSN South
Wednesday, April 9 @ 7:30 p.m. ET – @ New York Knicks – SportSouth*
Saturday, April 12 @ 7 p.m. ET – @ Indiana Pacers – FSN South
Tuesday, April 15 @ 7:30 p.m. ET – @ New Jersey Nets – FSN South
Wednesday, April 16 @ 7 p.m. ET – vs. Philadelphia 76ers – SportSouth*
*Time Warner customers in the Raleigh DMA can see the SportSouth telecasts on FSN South.
Are these all regular (i.e., non-HD) feeds? If not, will HD happen for next season?

HD would be awesomeness for sure!!
In the press conference the FSN guy mentioned we could see some HD games next fall but I believe he said for select games. I don't why it would only be select games except maybe they have to bring in the HD equipment to broadcast it? If that's the case then the Bobcats just need to go ahead and outfit the arena for HD camera work so that we get HD on all games. :D

I have full cable channels in HD so I'm guessing the game tonight will be that way for me.
This is huge for a fan like me. Being an hour away from Charlotte in upstate SC the only games I get on tv are the MYTV games. I think there are only like 8 or 9 a year on. Having the option to watch 70 games next year is colossal.
Hopefully even if the HD games aren't on for every game, the quality will be better than the ones I get to see. Those are pretty ghetto. And there can be non-hd telecasts and non-hd shows on an hd channel, so eaton, just because you have FSN in HD doesn't mean that the game tonight will be in HD. We can all hope though.
Good job to the organization for getting this done finally. It's huge. People in the Carolinas will notice this team so much more. Now, if we can get some more #'s in the W column next year!

It is not coming in on my TV here in the Upstate of SC! What the heck is going on? Maybe it starts at 7:30 and not 7:00. O/W, I'll be very very pissed off. I can get SportsSouth, but the Braves are on tonight, not the Bobcats.
From the Minnesota game thread . . .
Michael, if you read this can you comment.

My Fox Sports South is the Best Damn Show . . . . Not the Bobcats game.
SportsSouth is a show on Joe Johnson.
Is this just the Charlotte area seeing these games on FSN South?

Same with me here in the Upstate of SC! The Braves play on SportsSouth tonight later. What the heck is going on?
I'm upstate too. Spartanburg to be precise. If I look in my TiVo guide channel 27 is listed as FSN South - Western NC. So in my eyes that is even worse. I guess we're getting Asheville's FSN region, which I would think would still be Bobcats' market.
Why can't FSN South be FSN South? I was excited about watching games on a regular basis. Maybe they'll phase us in for next season, who knows? I doubt it.
This region of SC (which was crazy about the Hornets) will still be oblivious about the Bobcats. We can't watch them on TV . . . still.

I am only 15 minutes from you, here in Boiling Springs, SC. Hey neighbor!
Well, I think we'll at least get the SportsSouth games on Ch 61 when the Braves are not on it.

Well, aint that a nice kick in the balls!!!! Thanks for the screw job, MJ. You and Bob can shove that extra money up your asses!
You know, I am only 15 minutes from the NC border. I am 1 hr from Charlotte and 2.5 from Atlanta. Yet Fox Sports South and SportsSouth have shown Braves, Hawks and Thrasher games on a regular basis. I wonder if the Upstate is not being sacrificed to Atlanta. Do those dumbasses want us to be Atlanta fans and not Bobcat fans?
I wrote Michael Thompson a letter on the BobcatsReport website. I hope this matter can get straightened out, because if they want to push away their fans in the Upstate, they seem to be doing a good job of it. Or at least they seem to be trying awful hard to run us off.

Like I said earlier (when I was praising this move) is that this area was hardcore into the Hornets and we're currently pretty decent Panthers fans. The training camp is even in the area. The Hornets really marketed down here. I remember getting Muggsy's autograph in my younger days at the Belk at Westgate Mall. The sports stores carried all kinds of Hornets gear.
In my opinion I think the Bobcats would be greatly served to reach out beyond Charlotte, and considering that Charlotte sits on a state border they could probably gain lots of fans here in the palmetto state.
What is the challenge in bringing them to this area? There is nothing of note on FSN South right now. Nothing local to supercede or interrupt. I'd rather have Bobcats games on my FSN than filler.

I really hope it wasn't, but, it's a possiblility this was somewhat thrown together. They announce today, the do it today. I don't know how these networks work, whether there is some guy on the local level that flips a switch or something, who knows. Maybe they didn't get the memo. Other than south west SC, it seems like both states should be all Bobcats all the time. Seriously, NBA action is better than best damn anything.

While some of you guys were watching the game we were treated to the top 20 "best damn catches". I did actually watch 5 minutes of it. I won't lie.
I'll continue to watch whatever big market teams are on ESPN, come to the biscuit (cable box) two times a year, and wear the opposing teams jersey because I know those teams well.

I watched the press conference live on TV and Fred Whitfield, Bob Johnson, and all of the other execs from Time Warner and FSN kept saying North AND South Carolina together when talking about expanding their reach. I took it to assume that both NC and SC would be getting Bobcats game coverage now.
They did make a big deal as to how complicated it is to switch from one network to another. Maybe it was just a glitch and was hurried somewhat to make it happen for tonight's game. From the way everyone was talking I would be really surprised if SC is not included in game coverage for FSN.
Also, for those who actually got to watch, but please tell me you could actually tell the 6, 8, and 9s apart on the scoreboard on the screen. News 14 would kill my eyes because I would have to put my nose on the TV to figure out the score.

Yeah, I think something like that had to've happened. I'll be honest, I'm 20 minutes south of Winston salem, NC, and am 1:30 hours north of Charlotte if traffic is okay. I had no problems getting the games on NewsChannel 14, as a TWC subscriber, and I taped the game tonight so I could see myself on TV (and I can!! pretty damn cool!! I was the guy in the reddish-orange polo shirt, 4 rows behind the 'Cats bench...I stick out pretty good cause some little kids were in front of my and my friend, but I digress...) and FSN South aired the game, and not Best damn, like the interactive TV guide said would be on.
I'm slightly concerned because ohara and CM say they would get, maybe even still get Hawks games on FSN South.... I never got those games....ever. The interactive guide would say the Hawks or Thrashers would be playing, but we'd get something like a Best damn replay, or some other filler. That worries me because maybe SC is patched into the Atlanta market and not the Carolinas, which makes no sense at all.
This is a problem that MUST be solved, or else you're going to alienate more fans than those that are now being reached because of the deal. I'd be pissed like ohara too if this happened to me. Especially with the big to-do they've made of the event at the game tonight....giving speeches at the end of the 1st quarter, giving out TWC Arena/FSN Home of Bobcats T-shirts, etc. Makes me wonder if anybody in SC got the game....

I only hope that the message I sent Michael Thompson with the Cats reached him so he can look into the problem. If we got 1/2 the games and could at least see those on SportsSouth, I'd be happy. But with TBS not showing Braves games anymore, they are all being shown on SportsSouth and Fox Sports South on a rotating basis, unless the game is national on FOX regular TV.
Thanks for contacting Michael, ohara.
I think that anytime they said "the carolinas" or mentioned SC specifically they were talking about the Rock Hill area or any other part of SC that would be considered "charlotte area" (people who get charlotte's local news, etc).
Maybe we'll get the Knicks game tonight. We'll have to wait and see.

Peezie, this may have been a figment of my imagination, but the first thing I noticed at the beginning of the game was the font was much better. It was the usual FSN scoreboard, with black numerals on a white background. Then, when the second have started it changed. I actually turned to my girlfriend and said, "Oh no! The font changed back to suck!" I wonder if Steve Martin just thinks that the font is better and they have to use it.(?)
I never had a problem scoring News14 games here in Raleigh. Occasionally, we'd get a TV12 game too when they weren't showing the great media masterpiece that is "Paradise Hotel 2" - I'm sure no one could stand to miss that show. My main reason for wanting them to get this deal worked out is for the same reason that Bob and MJ should want this deal worked out: selling the product. There's no reason that the ENTIRE Carolinas shouldn't be the Bobcat's market.
I'd be willing to guess, though, that this was a case of poor communication within FSN and it will all be ironed out for the next game. At the very least, it needs to be fixed by next season. There's probably tons of Palmetto-ers sitting around that would happen to randomly change the channel to FSN just to see what's on and would catch a Bobcats game. All of a sudden they're saying to the TV, "What's that Mr. Martin? There's another game on tomorrow night you say? On this same channel, which I receive through my cable proscriber? Well, I'll be. I think I might tune in to that." Is it possible that the Bobcat powers-that-be do not see that? Perhaps it's out of their hands. In any case, I hope the problem is remedied soon.

Are you an Atlanta Braves fan? There are 2 channels which show the Braves games. One is FSN South and the other is SportsSouth. If you can remember seeing them on 2 different channels, that would be the two to look at for Bobcat games now.

Tupac, first of all, yeah Mets! Second of all, the games might come on FSN there (even the ones on sportsouth) because that's what they're doing for Raleigh. It's worth hoping for.

The Braves games starting this year, I think, are no longer on TBS and have moved to SportsSouth. My guess is that you have it, maybe not, but you should.
Sometimes it's listed as Turner Sports South. Look for abbreviations of all sorts and just see what is on. The logo to look for is green and black on the screen.

Your taste in baseball sucks, but I love your taste in the NBA! HaHa! Braves and Mets sucking it up big time so far. Braves lost all 5 of their games by 1 run each. Mets cannot keep pitchers healthy. Santana is good, but he can only pitch every 5 games. Neither will win the Division and neither will get the Wild Card.
That bit of fun out of the way, we will know in a little while if we are being shut out again in SC or if they got their act together.
