Got there bigger Running back to compliment DWill in Jonathan Stewart hopefully he can get healthy and our Olineman by moving up in Jeff Otah we gave up a lot though for Otah (2nd, 4th and first round 2009 pick to Philly) but it could be worth it in the long run time will only tell.

I was pleased to see the picks that we got, though I was not aware of how much we gave to Philadelphia to get Otah.

Overall, I'm still very pleased with this offseason.

I love J. Stewart. Man is a beast and I believe he will be better than MacFadden. Otah is a mauler whom I wanted as well. I am very happy. I knew we'd have to give up our 2nd and 4th, but was hoping we would only give up next yrs 2nd. Had to make it a 1st, but I expect it will be a very late 1st at worst. We have had a great off season so far. If we can snag the San Diego QB with one of our 3rd, I'd love it!

Panthers third round picks:

Iowa Corner Back Charles Godfrey

2008 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Charles Godfrey will turn out to be a diamond in the rough for some NFL franchise. Godfrey, a senior from Iowa, is one of the bigger cornerback prospects in the country. At 6'1" and 208 lbs., Godfrey has the size and strength to jam receivers at the line, even at the next level. He was voted 2nd team All Big Ten by the coaches this season, after registering 65 tackles, 5 INTs and 9 passes broken up. Godfrey has put together a really good senior campaign, despite having to cover some of the Big Ten's best receivers like Devin Thomas, Dorien Bryant, Arrelious Benn, and James Hardy. Godfrey is not only big and strong, but has tremendous speed. He probably won't run the fastest 40 at the combine, but he's as fast in pads as most in the country. Godfrey has notched 193 tackles in his four years with the Hawkeyes. His sound open field tackling was developed during his time playing special teams as a freshman and starting at free safety as a sophomore. Godfrey shows great ball skills while in coverage and is great in run support. His experience at multiple positions, along with his strength and speed, should help him find himself amongst the top tier of cornerbacks in this draft.

2008 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Blue collar. That's the word heard most often when describing Dan Conner. The Penn State Senior linebacker has been nothing short of a tackling machine since the first game of his freshman year. In fact, according to an article by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Conner has failed to register at least 5 tackles in only 2 of his 45 career games. Conner even set the record for career tackles at Penn State against Purdue. The best tackler ever at a place referred to as Linebacker U, that's quite a ringing endorsement. Conner led Penn State with 145 tackles this year, helping their team to its stingy 93.8 rushing yards against average per game. He also tallied a season high 18 tackles against Temple in November. Conner however, doesn't just wait for backs to come at him to be tackled. Conner has racked up 15 Tackles for loss this season along with 6.5 sacks, 1 INT, and 6 passes broken up in coverage. He finished his prestigious career with 9 tackles versus Texas A&M in the Alamo Bowl. Conner has experience playing both inside and outside on the linebacking core, both with equally impressive results. Conner is often compared with his old teammate Paul Posluszny, who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills last year. He and Posluszny have a lot of similar skills and both have a nose for the football, always seeming to be in on the tackle. The best news for NFL teams is that Conner is probably a slightly more athletic version of his former teammate. What you get with Conner is a smart, versatile linebacker who never misses a tackle. He is a lock to go in the first round.

And we got him in the third round

We have put together a nice draft this year.

5 players who will see a lot of time. The first 4 taken, and then the TE from Louisville. He will be a terrific offensive outlet for our QB. Cannot block like our other TE's, but has great hands as he cought a lot from Brohm this season - very reliable. I think of the late drafted guys, a couple may stick and play. I think our 7th rounders will likely not make the team, but who knows.

Isn't trading a next years first round pick for a 19th pick (or close to that, whatever it was) like a draft day sin? Especially for a struggling team.

For instant gratification purposes, I'm happy they picked up Otah, I hope he's a freaking beast.

But boy this is something that could blow up in their faces.

Kind of like before George Bush went into Iraq I used to think "oh man, I hope they know what they're doing" and of course we found out they totally didn't.

Ok maybe its not quite THAT risky lol.

J Stewart will end up getting more carries than D Will, who will be his "compliment".

I just hope Stewart doesn't get the Eric Shelton treatment but he shouldn't if he's healthy.

Its certainly make or break time for Fox and Hurney. I think on paper both of these guys (Stewart and Otah) look good. I certainly like the idea of us getting a faster Stephen Davis type in Stewart. Dan Connor looks like a good football player as well. I don't know how much time he will get on the field with our current LB corps, but he looks like a playmaker in college.

Im not too fond of moving Gross back to Left Tackle, but I am sure he will be better there than Wharton was last year. I for one am looking forward to next season. I guess 31 other cities besides Charlotte have visions of superbowl glory this time of year, but why not dream big?

I'm psyched for what the Panthers have done. I think basically if you consider Otah next years #1 all we gave up was a 2nd rounder and that doesn't even really matter because we had 2 3rds right? Either way, make or break this year for the Furrney era. Doesn't it kinda suck that a Super Bowl and an NFC championship in the last 5 years don't get you a little job security? (I'd say No)

I don't know how Dan Connor out of Penn State will fit in, but who knows, maybe he'll be the greatest back-up ever and turn into trade bait, or just keep everyone in that linebacking corps fresh?

The corner/safety out of Iowa, Godfrey, sounds like a nice player. Athletic with speed and technique.

I'm no Mel Kiper Jr but I like the looks of it on paper, and the more I read/hear about it.
