We had heard that it was likely to happen, but the Observer is now reporting that Bernie Bickerstaff will be leaving the Charlotte Bobcats. They have yet to say if he is going to New York, as previously rumored, somewhere else, or if he intends to take another job in basketball at all.

His coaching sometimes frustrated me, but I would be sad to lose him. He always got the most out of his players and got the franchise off it's feet.

If he does leave I see Larry Brown (in the future) or maybe even Paul Silas having a management role for this team.

Hopefully we'll start to see better draft selections this season.

I appreciate that he got the players to put it all out there for him, but that's about the only thing I can think of as a positive.

Good luck in the future.

Good Luck in the future to Bernie,

I don't think any of us really appreciated the job that he did as a coach until last season when we had to endure the lunatic.

I'd like to see Larry Brown Coach a couple years and then transition into the front office. He knows the game and would be a very competent pereson in the front office. That said, Paul Silas is not a bad option as well.

Can we get Jerry West? After all, if you can shoot for the stars, go for the best.

I dont quiet get what is so great about guys like Donnie Walsh and Jerry West. Howd the grizzlies do? Howd the Pacers do for that matter? Really they had one good season.

Old guy NBA vets are not a god send to a franchise. I would rather see Bill Simmons in the front office

you will keep Bill Simmons as far away from our front office as possible. and thats an order.

I used to like Bill. still think hes a good writer. unfortunately he was a better loser than winner. now hes gotten away from what made him great... and thats a loser.

so do you really want a guy who is a better loser than winner in our front office. i mean we just got rid of Bernie for Gods sake.

Just kidding... Bernie, thank you very much for what you have done up to date with this franchise. It was a thankless job, and you were never gonna succeed with a fledgling franchise... because nobody can win with an expansion team in its first few years. However you got the best out of everyone and made fans proud of the team work ethic. For that we thank you.

thanks for making the players bust their asses off during your tenure as a cats' coach. every first is remembered so you'll not one to be forgotten. thanks again mr bernie.

P.S. your man-love for brevin knight here made you a very very bad coach. just sayin'

I liked Bernie for a few reason, he didn't make the greatest pick, but he definitely didn't hit the worst either. He got the best out of his players the three years he was coach, something that Vincent couldn't manage to do at all. Bernie stuck with his players and the players liked him, something that didn't happen with Vincent...Wish him good luck wherever he goes...

You still have to give him credit for getting Crash in the expansion draft. I wander if he is leaving over some head-butting with MJ? I thought he was a decent coach and exec , and you can't say ammo over gay was all his call since MJ came on board before the 2006 draft. Yes he also had a chance for CP3, but hindsight is 20/20. All in all i thought he did a respectable job building our team, a 6 on a 10 point scale with Isiah as a 1, and West (with LA) as a 10. Now it is solely the MJ show. Happy trails Bernie

You mean for not being stupid and not taking him? Crash was the best thing out there in the X draft and on a rookie payscale to boot.

I also think pretty strongly that Ammo was Bernie's guy...MJ had only been on board a month. Read the after draft workout interviews...Bernie was practically drooling. I don't fault him for not trading up...he did try tho.

He wasn't too bad as GM and made only small mistakes; problem being that small mistakes can really hurt a 2-3 year franchise.

Regaurdless of what any of us think about Bernie good or bad he did a fair job at coaching a expansion team. I say thumbs up to Bernie and good luck to him in what ever he does....
