I read in insidehoops rumors column that Carlos Arroya will be a free agent. It also stated that Diop would be a free agent also. Patrick O'Bryant I think will be a restricted free agent that we could make a offer to. Maybe there is some others out there that you'll know of that could help our team without any trades involved that would help our team. Jose Calderon is a restricted free agent but he is having problems with being the back up so I don't think he would be a good fit just in case Felton does pan out this year. Jamal MaGloire is a free agent also.

I can't understand why a lot of you guys keep wanting guys with worse numbers than the guys we have Hollins for example. POB and Hollins are both projects except Hollins has more heart and hussle. And Hollins numbers are a little better. WHY try and sign someone who sucks except for fillers. Then you want a vetran who will play for the minium.

what if we signed a center...if we don't get something in the draft...somebody like chris mihm or rasho nesterovic

free agents that i like for our team (all MLE value or less, imo)

not in order of desire, just going down the list...

needs (that we can get for MLE or less): back up pg, combo guard, wing defensive stopper, athletic power forward

tony allen (r) - for those that like westbrook in the draft, allen is a worst case scenario version of westbrook. injury and knucklehead concerns should keep his value low.

chris duhon - of course all the boozing rumors are a major concern.

brandon bass - (r) - probably not a chance in hell dallas lets him get away

eduardo najera - could guard quicker pfs. seems like a LB kinda guy, but also seems to duplicate what we have with dudley. beats the hell out of harrington though.

bobby jones (r) - known as a defensive stopper. nothing more than a 12th man though.

anthony carter - solid veteran backup pg. better than mcinnis. also seems like an LB kinda guy.

walter herrmann (r) - would love to have walter back. and seeing as how vincent pretty much killed his value, could be had for much less than his is worth.

austin croshere - dont laugh. he'll finally get a contract that he is worth (like 2mil per). would give us a pick and pop option with felton, which has been lacking lately.

patrick o bryant - not bad if you can get him for less than 3mil per. he's young w/ upside (more than hollins). could be a decent back up center for the next few years.

carl landry (r) - not much of a chance houston lets him go, but could be that pf we are looking for. maybe worth an early high bid (around MLE) at the beginning of FA to see how serious houston is about matching offers.

quinton ross - a defensive specialist who would play sparringly. not bad for depth though.

josh powell (r) - solid young big man with post moves. agent is apparently from the area and i have a gut feeling that josh would like to be here. not bad for depth.

ronny turiaf (r) - see carl landry. lets give ammo a buddy.

juan carlos navarro (r) - only because i love me some euros that are smart and can shoot.

ryan gomes (r) - a lot like dudley, but would also be a big LB favorite. is capable of guarding pfs most of the time.

craig smith (r) - how many young guys can the t-wolves afford to keep around?

bostjan nachbar - i'd rank him right up there with landry and turiaf as top of my offseason wish list. and he's not restricted.

darrell armstrong - he never looks old to me. let him finish his career in NC. dude ran circles around mcinnis earlier this year.

carlos arroyo - put in him a pick and roll offense and watch him shine... as a backup that is.

keyon dooling - will probably get offered more money than he is worth, but he would solve 3 of our holes (backup pg, combo guard, wing defender).

louis williams (r) - probably would cost way too much to be a backup pg. i would imagine the sixers would match anything MLE or below. but he's young and can ball.

kevin ollie (r) - only as a 15th man at the vet min. One of LBs guys.

damon stoudamire - random addition. i wonder how he would do as felton's primary backup. certainly it beats getting zero minutes in san antonio, right?

good player in the MLE (or less) range that i would not target:

beno udrih - too much to pay for a guy to compete for a starting spot. i'd only do this if we decided to trade ray.

tyronn lue - too many injury problems for my liking.

matt barnes - would probably come at great value, but duplicates too much of what wallace and dudley bring.

mickael pietrus - would probably not be happy being a situation defensive stopper. no way he gets more than 5-10 minutes a game. too much money wrapped up in sgs.

chris mihm - see tyronn lue

desagana diop - will get way too much money for what he brings. i would only consider if okafor left and even then i would be hesitant.

jannero pargo - i'm on the fence with him. too streaky, too much of a gunner. no real playmaking skills.

brian skinner - pretty much a lesser nazr.

kurt thomas - dont bother, he'll be ring hunting.

francisco elson - if we really needed a backup center then sure, go for it. we have bigger needs.

rasho nesterovich - see diop/elson

carlos delfino - only if we can bring back walter and then unleash my "team argentina" trade assult where we trade the rest of our team for nocioni, manu, oberto and scola.

roger mason - if we needed some cheap sg depth i'd be all over this guy. i liked him at virginia and i still like him.

What about Maurice Evans, Corey Maggette or even Jarvis Hayes. These are young guys that have talent and also would fit a combo guard/forward spots. We are already loaded at that spot but I think we could use some athleticism at that spot. Carlos Arroyo would be the perfect backup and seeing that he has played for LB already would be a plus. I don't know whether him and LB got along though seeing that he was sent to the Magic. Carroll is a scorer we need some defensive help at sg. What does the limited salary protection mean. What ever it means if we could get Leon Powe from the Celtics it would be a steal of a deal. He has heart, character and talent and would battle under the boards for rebounds. He could be the next Al Jefferson if allowed playing time. We won't even say anything about BBass he will be tied up in Dallas. There are some moves we could make without giving up draft picks and players to make us better. We don't have a bad team we just need heart and leadership. Out of all the restricted and unrestricted free agents if we could just get

Childress---- a player with size can shoot and defend

Arroyo----- to back up Felts and push him to stay on top of his game

Leon Powe----- a wonderful young man with good CHARACTER and talent

Maggette----- if we don't get Childress

Najera----- a good hustle player

and maybe someone like Magloire, Elson or Primo would round our team out.

We have Swish and Crash at the 2/3, and whoever we bring in as a combo guard would either work so well (teamwise) that he'd push us to move Crash or else he'd be used solely as a backup. In regards to that we have to take into account what the FA salaries are.

I wouldn't want yet another MLE (or worse) backup unless he could supplant one we already have. 4 million would be pushing it IMO, but if they can do multiple things (esp. on both sides of the ball) then it might be worth it.

Guys I would be interested in:

PG: Chris Duhon, Beno Udrih, Earl Boykins, Anthony Carter, Carlos Arroyo
PF: DRAFT, Eduardo Najera, Malik Allen, Leon Powe
C: Ronny Turiaf

Not too much death at any of the major positions other than PG...Rather draft a PF/C

malik allen? he was a one dimensional jumpshooter when he was here a few years back. now he's older and slower. he certainly wont help our pf woes and would, at best, compete with davidson for 12th man honors.

The Bobcats need to pick up Antawn Jamison. He is a solid/experienced PF and has connections to the state of North Carolina and the city of Charlotte (Providence High). Several other teams have a high interest in him like the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat. I think he would be a soild pick-up. What do u guys think?

Welcome to the Board! Glad to have you on with us! We batted that one around a good bit. But the most recent news out is that Washington is making it a priority to resign Jamison and he came out a couple weeks ago and said his preference is the stay. I dont see him leaving Washington.

I'd love to snatch Leon Powe from the Celtics. I think he's a good player, but the Celtics are apparently high on him, so I doubt they let him go. Another nice pickup from Boston for our bench would be Tony Allen...he's a knucklehead sometimes, but he can light it up when given time and he has shown willingness to play backup PG...

How about Shaun Livingston, PG from the clippers? If the clippers don't tender him an offer of at least $5.8 million by June 30th, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He was one of my favorite players coming out of the NBA draft of 04, having the height of 6-7 and comparisons to magic johnson coming out of high school. He suffered 2 terrible injuries (1 against the bobcats) in his career already, but is expected to be fully recovered this month.

However, a problem would be that he would be too good to serve as a backup to Felton once he gets back in playing shape. We could play him at the backup 1 and 2 though as he has great size and athleticism. He would be a high-risk, high-reward pickup.
