Miami Heat: Michael Beasley, PF, Kansas St. The Heat have already said they're open to exploring trades, which suggests they aren't terribly interested in Beasley. The southpaw is a double-double machine and would seemingly give them a good complementary player to Dwyane Wade and Shawn Marion. Beasley remains the best bet to make the most fantasy impact as a rookie.
Do you think we could get into 2nd pick?

That's just talk. They are trying to see how much they could possibly get. It would have to be a monster deal for them to give up #2 and Beasley. Can't see anyone paying their price.

Could we trade Wallace or Okafor (even both) with our 9th pick and cash?
EDIT: I found some more info about Miami Heat not wanting their 2nd pick

Lets do it!!!!!
Sorry to say it but... BYE BYE GERALD!! I dont really like giving up the #9 pick (potenially Kevin love) but if it gets us a SUPERS-SUPERSTAR potential player in Beasley, then I can give that up and hrow in something else even.

If we could get Beasley for Crash and #9, yes I would do it. In a New York minute! Play Beasley at the PF, J-Rich at his more suited SF, and I'd start Carroll at SG. With Ray at PG and Okafor at C, we'd have a killer starting 5. With our 2nd rounder, I'd grab the best combo guard available who could spell Ray at PG and Carroll at SG.
Then, I'd make plans for getting Playoff Tickets.

I don't think they'll deal that pick unless it's for a REAL big-time player. No knock against Crash, I love him. But think about this rationally: would you turn away Michael Beasley for a perenially-injured player and a #9 pick that has a chance of being a bust? I think they're just making waves to see if anyone will give up a big-time, big-name player for the number 2 pick...I read on realgm that Pat Riley was referencing what Boston did in the Kevin Garnett deal.
So unless some team offers a superstar, trading the number 2 pick would make the Heat like Kunta Kinte jumping rope....TRIPPIN

Would you think this is better?
PG: Felton/Boykins
SG: Richardson/Carroll
PF: Beasley/Brand? (Sign as Free Agent)
SF: Morrison (He needs to start at least)
C: Okafor

Theres no way they would do it for #9 and Crash, especially in division. It just wouldn't happen. I think the best we can hope for is they screw it up somehow.

sad reality. but whatever, in the same respect, no one is going to trade a really big name player for a draft pick, that doesnt make sense. Crash is as high as I would go, I mean he is a 20ppg 6-8 rebounds and 2 steals guy, hes a beast on d. so I dont think its that bad, especially because he has finally established himself.
But really, prediction: Miami will be picking, and keeping the pick, at #2 in the draft.

alright, this is off topic, but why on earth does morrison NEED to start. He has proved nothing in the league but he is not a good defender.
Yeah, ill give him a chance, off the bench. Id rather Carroll or Dudley, hell Derrick Anderson start over him.
I don't trade a young, proven, border-line All-Star 20ppg game scorer with a very friendly contract AND a pick for a guy that hasn't played a game in the NBA. But I'm not a GM.
I could see it if we thought May or Morrison could step up and play but I can't see it.

Miami keeps the pick. Definitely I think they will, but who knows...Pat Reily is crazy.
I tend to agree with Dunk. I know he gets hurt a lot, but he takes over games, able to score 40 once a month, 20 ppg and all that defense? And he's exciting to watch? I really really like our team with Gerald, I just think we need to add to it. Trades like the one being proposed here kind of freak me out. Devil you know vs. Devil you dont.
It's all talk.
You'll see these sort of reports over the next two weeks come out from the Bulls, the Heat, the Wolves the Sonics etc.
It's all smoke and mirrors.

Do you really think Crash-Matrix would be something that is intriguing to the Heat especially with the lack of a true distributing PG as it stands. Even if it wasn't smoke n' mirrors i don't see it happening.

exactly....crash has done nothing but good for the franchise and people would willingly trade him away for an unproven 19 year old? granted i do think beasley will be a star, nothing is set in stone, we KNOW that crash is consistent in throwing up 18-20 a night and being a defensive presence...we know nothing about hwo beasley will play in the nba
if anything it is okafor i would want to trade considering he is still young, still has potential, hasn't reached his peak, and has proven that he isn't so high up on being here...the heat would love to have him at center with haslem alongside...we could maybe give up
okafor/9/morrison? for their 2nd and maybe a throw in player if there is roster problems
felton
richardson
crash
beasley
mohammed
but in reality i don't see us making a trade, as i think the team we have right now can and will make the playoffs under correct leadership
