hi all,

as a UK fan the college game goes a bit unnoticed over here. i have read loads about this years draft and its pretty obvious that like last year that it a clear cut 2 at the top.

just curious to see how you "experts ;)" would compare this years top 2 against last years pairing of Oden and Durant???? are they as good at the time of drafting i mean??

welcome to the board! i by no means consider myself well educated in this subject, but i would say beasley is comparible to durant (similar frame, playstile, though beasley is a more of a PF) while rose can in some ways be like oden in that he can impact right away, but will need a few years to grow to his full potential

other than that there aren't that many similar comparisons between them i can make, as they aren't the same positions

Well first of all, Welcome to Bobcats Planet!

Anyway, I think that this years top 2 are 10 times better than last season's.
Durant is still not big enough to play as a forward in the NBA while Michael Beasley is huge and will most likely be one of the top big men in the league right off the bat.(Because of size and outside shooting touch)

I cannot say much about Oden because he did not play this season.

Also Derrick Rose WILL BE A TOP 5 POINT GUARD IN THE NBA! He has the size, quickness, and court awarness that he needs to be probably where Chris Paul is right now.
The only thing that Rose needs to work on his his shooting touch. It seems a little bit inconsistent to me.

I think last year's 2 had a clear advantage because of Oden. He is the best center prospect to come along sice Shaq, and I think that even after microfracture surgery, he'll have a bigger impact next season than Rose or Beasley.

I almost consider it a draw. The 2 main picks have to the a high caliber PG and high caliber C. Rose this yr and Oden last yr. Even on the two main guys. Then you have a terrific SF in Durant who can be exceptional, and a monster of a PF who can score and rebound. Pretty even there as well. I have to call it a draw.

I think you may be right here Ziggy, which then makes me think that the ROY race for next year should be a hell of a battle. (Since Oden will technically qualify as a rookie.)

cheers guys,

was just curious, seems to be a split decision. i appreciate its hard to quantify players in different positions but i was just thinking of their overall impact to the NBA now and in the future.

i have only been watching the NBA properly for a couple of years so Oden/Durant will always be the first big draft hype i will remember so its nice to see how the new draft compares.

Oden will be rookie of the year if he stays healthy with Beasley being hot on his hills just my guess.

A Rose, Beasley, Oden race for ROY is going to be AWESOME to watch next season. Anyway, I think that last years top 2 of Oden/Durant have a slight edge over Rose/ Beasley. Mainly because of Oden being a beast.

Couldn't disagree more.

The Oden/Durant pairing are about a zillion times better than the Beasley/Rose pairing.

Durant was played at the 2 all year and after a shaky start to the season shooting wise, finished with 20/4/2 on 43% shooting. He is studly.

Oden will be a force just by the nature of his size, mobility, smarts and strength. The only thing that will hold him back will be his questionable body. I was hard on him last year, but after seeing just how bad DeAndre Jordan is, it showed me what an amazing talent Oden really is.

Beasley will be a stud - but not as good defensively as Durant.

Rose is unknown. He's a ways off contributing in the NBA and he is about a zillion years away from where CP3 is today (they are NOTHING alike)
