Did anyone else see the Elite XC MMA on CBS Saturday? I think Kimbo is completely overrated, and almost lost to a tomato can, James Thompson, after beating another tomoto can, Tank Abbot. I would love to see him get in the ring with somebody like Couture, or Frank Mir. Hell, I think Brock Lesner would beat him too, and he is as much of a project as Kimbo. I think CBS is showing a minor league product compared to WEC or UFC, but overall I am glad MMA is on network TV. Now if we can get UFC to buy the competition like they did with Pride then we will have some great fights.

I have been a fan of MMA since the UFC started and there were no weight classes, when Ken Shamrock and Gracie were headlining. I am also excited to see UFC 86 next month, even though I think Rampage will beat Forrest. Anybody else excited to see MMA on mainstream TV?

Yea Kimbo Slice has A LOT to learn as far as ground game, but standing up he can hang with anyone I think especially if he continues to work hard in the cardio department. I'd pay good money to see Brock/Kimbo but considering Slice has no wrestling background whatsoever I too think Lesnar would murder him. Hell did you see how he let Thompson land unprotected elbows on him for atleast 2 minutes in round 2? (they were weak shots but still some refs would have stopped it). Thomson's cauliflower ear injury was disgusting also the sight of that sh!t almost ruined my weekend lol.

But anyways it was a good weekend for MMA fans WEC put on a steller show and EliteXC's show was good besides a few early referee stoppages the more Mix Martial Arts on TV the better I say.

His cauliflower ear was AWFUL! It was like he just left the deli and the fat that is cut off of roast beef was taped to the side of his head. WEC card was good too, Uriah looked pretty good against Pulver. I like MMA better than boxing because a fighter has to be much more skilled than a boxer. MMA fighters are only as good as the weakest part of their game. The more exposure the better for the sport.

I use to be a huge boxing fan up until I saw Forrest Griffin/Bonnar 1 on the 1st Ultimate Fighter finale I fell in love with the sport after that.

I'm not a big MMA fan, so I don't know much about the sport.

However, I agree that CBS's handling of it and Slice's fight were pretty bad. This blog made a lot of sense, though I don't agree with all of his opinions:

On a side note, my wife was freaking out about Thompson's ear-- gross stuff!
