I know May gets a beating on here pretty routinely. I don't want to rain on the parade, but what do we really know about his eating and partying habits?

Does anyone have any knowledge of his sustained habits outside of the occasional run-in?

I know there are lots of internet rumors, but I want to know first hand information, which doesn't include "my brother's friend told me..."

Well as some of you guys know...i am only 14. I go to his Basketball during the summer at Providance Day school here in charlotte. He was always saying how he spends too much time at South Park Mall and a few clubs downtown.

AND I SWARE!!!!......HE WAS EATING KRIPY KREME DONUTS ONE MORNING!
He also got the whole camp Bojangles one day, quiznos one day, and various other things.
He never seemed to play much ball at the camp. He only took pictures with his awesome camera or was eating/drinking.

i just remember being floored at how he looked in the team picture this year. His arms looked huge, not muscular just huge. I know he's got that baby fat look but his chins just seemed bigger too. If anyone can find it and post it that'd be good. I googled it but got stuck on that larry johnson shirt from his rookie pics.

Ammofan, great info. Who gets a bunch of basketball players at a camp heavy food like that? Sean butterscotch may that's who.

for all the shit everyone gives sean may, I really want to see him come back and do well. Some guys arent naturally 5% bodyfat. Obviously, it seems sean's effort to stay in shape is low, but really we dont know. Wow dude ate donuts one time, I ate donuts once last week too. Hes a big dude, but hes not close to obese or anything.

I am willing to be Sean May is in better shape then anyone on this website.

I've got a two friends who say he likes to get his drink on about every weekend at the forum in uptown Charlotte, and talks like a big shot. I agree that his skillset is what we need, but I don't know if he has the drive. I hope he has an amare type comeback from microfracture surgery, but judging by the games I went too this season he doesn't look like he has tried to keep his weight down. I hope he comes back and is the player he was 2 years ago when we were on national tv against orlando, but I don't see it.

I always hear the drinking thing about him sadly.

You don't remember watching healthy McMay? dude was a straight up tease of a beast because when healthy I had no complaints. I think the pick and pop would be a deadly weapon with him and Felts for us but I feel you I want a more versatile/athletic PF that's why I'm praying for Anthony Randolph to be available while we are on the clock.

If Sean May could ever stay healthy, then he'll do well. everytime he has played, he's been pretty good for us, and is a good rebounder and pretty good scorer, so I hope he can come back stronger than ever before...and healthier...

I know all the jokes about krispy cream . But he's exactly what we need healthy. He's great on pick and rolls with Felton and can hit that 15 footer at a high percentage.
If he could start with Felton , Rich , Wallace, Okafor for say 75 games . We win fifty games . His non play hurts us more than Morrison.

On one leg he's better than Dudley and his bbiq. The man plays hard and gives 110% every f***ing game that he's able to play. Having knee surgery kinda makes running a little difficult don't you think.

JM7, I hear what you're saying and I agree that if 100% healthy Sean May is the far superior player... But we can't get him healthy and don't know if he'll ever be completely healthy.

I know he hasn't been healthy, and I think everbody wants him to be healthy. Sorry, I just get pissed at hearing people type about people that are good. He does all sorts of things in the community and is rehabing. No one can say for sure if he'll recover fully, or even at all. I just think that making fun of somebody is not a good way to support him.

I also think that all of the players look at this website and read these post.

I'll try not to sound so mad, I will not reply to threads that I think are just insulting to a player. If that is what Ziggy wants.

Sorry if I pissed anybody off.

I just find it frustrating when he's out at parties and doing all these sort of things, then shows up to practice, etc overweight and out of shape. Your career is more important then a night with the ladies, Sean.

It's awesome that he does community work, just get in shape and get healthy damn it!

If Sean May does happen to browse this site, I doubt if he would get upset. If I had as many commas in my bank account that he likely does, it would take more than some jokes and photoshops to tick me off

However I would love to know if the biscuit ever saw the Sam Vincent photoshop thread.

NBPA: Sean May Q&A

By J.B. Cissell
Inside Carolina
Posted Jun 19, 2008

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The 2005 NCAA National champion and Final Four MVP takes time to chat with Inside Carolina at the NBPA Camp.

How are things going with your knee?

Oh, it's good, feeling great. I've got probably another month or so. I get cleared July 1, but I will probably take another two weeks to give myself a little more time. I've got to get rid of this bone bruise--that's the only thing. The micro-fracture has healed. They said it's better than what they'd expect. I don't see any reason why I won't make a full recovery.

How is your conditioning? You look like you have lost weight since February/March.

Yeah, I've dropped. Right now I'm back at Carolina in Chapel Hill with Jonas Sahration, the strength coach. For some reason, he knows how to get the weight off me. I'm still not where I want to be. I want to get down to 260. Right now, I'm still 275, but I'm down 12-14 pounds from what I was. It's been a long off-season. I haven't even started running yet. Once I start running, I'll get in better shape, better condition. Right now I'm nowhere near basketball shape.

What do you feel your prospects are for the coming season?

Personally, I feel like I'll be fine. My goal was to continue to play where I was when I left. Will that be hard? Sure. It will take me some time, and I'll be a little rusty. But with my game and the way I play--I don't play above the rim. Being able to think the game, I'm pretty sure I'll be fine. Adding Coach Brown to our team and the coaching staff he has brought along, I think it will be great. I'm hoping for nothing but good things this year.

I'm glad he's talking with confidence about getting in shape and coming back from injury. If he wasn't, then he'd be lost to the NBA already.

However, after last season when he didn't even get his knee looked at until the day before training camp started, I can't help but say "I'll believe it when I see it." I really hope he comes back next year and goes apesh!t on other teams, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

so we have to look to inside carolina for our bobcats news? Thank you Bobcats.com and thank you Rick Bonnell! Sean is a big guy, I've always called him baby fat and then I got away from that when he started looking like a player, working hard on his knee, then he just lost 2 seasons and it looks like he won't stop gaining weight. I don't know for sure what he does off the court. I know he's got to be working a little at least, and he is up at Carolina working with that guy and he's down a whopping 15 lbs? I know, I know, he hasn't started running but will he run? When is the last time he ran? 18 months ago? I don't mind a big guy. I blame Sean for the situation he's in, weak knees or whatever, you can work, if you've got that problem don't put on weight it just makes it worse. It's just so damn frustrating. I want him to do well but I don't know if he can/will.

Seriously guys, I'd love to think the players look at the site too, but in reality, they probably don't read what's in the paper about themselves, let alone a message board/fan site.

Sean loves to hit the local bars.Him and my boy are friends along with Beason from the Panthers. David my boy, says Sean is a big guy, He says Sean has a huge frame . He says Sean could lose about twenty five pounds . To get into playing shape. but he don't think he's ever going to look jacked up the way his frame is built.

In his defense (THIS time), Bonnell's been out the past week, under the weather.

But it is sad to see the Fayetteville paper and IC scooping the local rag about bobcats stuff. The Rock Hill paper scoops the Observer about the Panthers a lot too, so its not just the Cats.

Is anyone else even holding out hope that May will be worth anything at this point? I'm looking at him as a write-off.

Just,

yeah I should be better, I dont see why not...

I guess I was wrong, I thought he might be alright, this guy seems to have no drive, and therefore is a loser in the NBA.

According to www.nba.com (http://www.nba.com) they have Elton Brand listed as 6 ft 8 and 254 lbs. While Sean may is 6 ft 9 and 266.

You've got to think that was taken the last time he stepped on the court. and who cares what he's "listed" at. I'm just saying i'd love to see Sean play and play well, but i really don't think he will. He'll never play on back to back nights, he'll probably never play 2 games in a row ever again. We aren't deep enough to have the extra weight on the payroll and the bench and the poor chair he sits in. I really wish we had traded him before last season when he had a little value, before he found out about the knee not being better. Now I think the whole league knows he's never going to be 100% and we'll never get anything for him.

I hate to say it but between May and Morrison the Bobcats have been set back five years. But no one could predict both geting hurt but nither has value now . Both are bust no faught of the Bobcats . If both were healthy [both have talent] we would not be a lotery team this year. Toghter thats seven milion dollars of wasted cap space.

He does have one thing going for him. Several players have come back from micro surgery and played well. May spent a lot of time trying not to get the operation. Now that he has done it he isn't taking longer than anyone else took to recover. This is his contract year.

Where it really gets scary is if May has a career year. Maybe he wins most improved player and goes for like 21 and 15. Then we have to decide what to do about his contract.

This isn't necessarily indicative of Oden working harder in the off season. Some people heel quicker than others and May might not heel as quick. I feel May will be ready by start of training camp. He will have a solid season. He knows his NBA career depends on him being healthy and playing well.
