MADRID (Olympics) – New Spain coach Aito Garcia Reneses has dropped Sergio Rodriguez and Carlos Cabezas and included 17-year-old Ricky Rubio and veteran Raul Lopez in his squad for the Olympics.
Aito has also made a stunning decision to name Jorge Garbajosa, despite the world champion having hardly played this season with Toronto following a leg operation.
The other eight players from last year’s silver-medal winning squad under former boss Pepu Hernandez – Jose Manuel Calderon, Juan Carlos Navarro, Rudy Fernandez, Alex Mumbru, Carlos Jimenez, Pau Gasol, Felipe Reyes, Marc Gasol and Berni Rodriguez – are named.
This guy is a top prospect to go number 1 overall in next years draft and is compared to Pistol Pete and Steve Nash I want to see what all of the hype is about.

I've said in the thread about him in Draft board that I watched him this year live. And I proudly would like to repeat that I've never seen such a talent and maturity from a boy at 17, even from a player at 30 years old. Besides his shooting mechanics and shaky shooting PCT, he's definitely complete. His defensive instincts stealing abilities are unbelievable. He has long arms and a decent athlete for a European player. He had completed that match with 29 points and 10 assists, his best performance in senior level until now.
I'm sure he will not disappoint you. I'm also curious to see him against Kidd, Paul and Williams etc. And if this is a perfect world, he should be no.1 pick in 2009 draft. But he will not, because of his potential buyout problems and lack of talent evaluation by American scouts.

Didn't think about his match ups against the NBA guards on Team USA if he looks good it should help out his stock tremendously. When I read that he was Nash with better D (any truth to that comparison tamburello?) I was like this kid has to go number 1 overall.
He could be a superstar if he pans out flashy player that fans would LOVE to come see.

ugly jump shot...but i guess he would be using less energy when shooting b/c he barely jumps...he looks like a steve-nash type player too, so that's great

Sorry eaton I have just seen your question.
I can't exactly say he's alike Steve Nash. Because although being with a better D, Rubio is also much much more athletic than Steve Nash than he was ever. Also has very long arms. But he's not a great distributor as Steve Nash is, yet. Also his shooting mechanics does not seem so good and I doubt he'll ever be a great shooter as Steve Nash is.
I think the most exact comparison for him is Jason Kidd. Just like Kidd, Ricky is a breathtaking PG, with great defensive abilities and low shooting pct from outside. But I have to say that his assist average is not as flashy as his steal average. But he'll definitely be among the greats of Europe.

Oh ok thanks I look forward to watching him this summer I'm pretty sure ESPN will air his teams games because of the hype.
